- bradspry, on 05/14/2008, -6/+160Steaming sports? I'm not into that...
- leontes, on 05/14/2008, -5/+102It's utterly genius how Apple is able to generate this kind of buzz by just shutting the ***** up. In some ways Apple reminds me of that utterly popular kid who barely grunts and stares off into the distance when talking to women, while they all madly, unreseverably
- BlueStarr, on 05/14/2008, -15/+87*****. I'm not clicking *****. Everyone has the skinny on Apple rumors now. The majority do it only for page hits. Sorry but I'm not buying this isht.
- llsethj, on 05/14/2008, -2/+47The Cleveland Steamers are my fav
- MJDub, on 05/14/2008, -1/+38...while they all madly, "unreseverably" don't finish their thoughts.
- GTanaka, on 05/14/2008, -1/+24American telecoms suck nuts. That's the biggest deal.
- GregFD3S, on 05/14/2008, -3/+27Thats to be expected on a 3G network.
- Dylson, on 05/14/2008, -6/+27*****. Nice dude.
- jeriqo, on 05/14/2008, -5/+271 word : implementation.
I've never seen anyone using videoconferencing.. I guess I will when Apple makes its own version. - inactive, on 05/14/2008, -3/+23He died
- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -14/+36I don't get the big deal about all of these features. I love a lot of apple products (using a mac right now) but streaming live tv, gps, 3G, video conferencing .etc have been pretty common among phones for years now. At least where i live it is common. My phone is almost 2 years old now and it has 3G, video conferencing, 2 cameras (one is 3.2 megapixels), can stream live tv .etc and its not an expensive phone. What's the big deal?
- djadamjay, on 05/14/2008, -1/+19it even makes jullianne fries!!
- wellyuk, on 05/14/2008, -2/+18just wave it at them and you won't have to say a thing.
- sotose, on 05/14/2008, -1/+15Steve Jobs calls this "a keynote".
- RyeBrye, on 05/14/2008, -2/+15I just hope it can be boot neutered and jailbroken and let free!
- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -1/+13GPS has nothing to do with network speed, which was the meaning for my comment.
- DaviDaviDaviD, on 05/14/2008, -0/+12Here in the UK, streaming live video (sports etc) is not out of the norm. I would not be suprised if this would be for the EU iPhone.
- hove, on 05/14/2008, -0/+11Tried that, got arrested.
- evan3168, on 05/14/2008, -10/+23but when will it tell me what to say to girls
- redfan, on 05/14/2008, -0/+12Honestly, if Nokia's phone really is better than the iPhone, then that's on their marketing department and supply chain folks. You might make the best phone in the world and offer it for a great price, but if you forget to tell anyone about it, then so what?
- Angostura, on 05/14/2008, -0/+11BREAKING: The new model incorporates a tiny vacuum cleaner for personal grooming.
- kingsal, on 05/14/2008, -0/+11don't be surprised if Apple introduces an entirely separate non-iPhone mobile device at WWDC next month (they seem to be doing a good job keeping everyone speculating about iPhone 2.0... keeping us distracted from the real story)
also, streaming TV is big deal if Apple wants to enter the Japanese mobile phone market - sockpuppets, on 05/14/2008, -2/+13Which of these buttons calls your parents to come take your drum set away?
- DomZy, on 05/14/2008, -1/+11It probably will, you can stream TV onto your phone in the UK on most networks, and I am pretty sure you can in other countries too. America is just behind the times.
- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -0/+9I thought that might be a comment that didn't need sarcasm tags. Guess I was wrong.
- mentor972, on 05/14/2008, -0/+9..while they all madly, unreseverably WHAT? I must know!!! For the LOVE OF GOD!!!!!
- ericdigg, on 05/14/2008, -1/+11OK, enough overhype. I am perfectly happy if just 3G, GPS and better support for bluetooth stereo headset are provided.
- fugazied, on 05/14/2008, -3/+12The big deal is that apple will do it better than the other companies. So you will tele-conference on the touchscreen with 4-5 friends with a few clicks.
- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -1/+9If there are streaming sports on the other hand, i'm excited.
- mrhahn, on 05/14/2008, -0/+9That was down to an error on their system, they resolved it a little while back -- http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/3510-o2-clarifi ...
- jhop, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10Let us know when you get that SIM card from Verizon...
- okaroleo, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10This platform is important for some of us. I had 2 "3G" phones over past 3 years but none used full potential of 3g simply because the phones were too slow to have good quality of experience. Iphone is the other side of that coin where phone feels fast, responsive but connection is dragging it down.
After my 3G experience i can tell you honestly i will take Iphone with Edge over any other 3G phone at the moment and i tested quite a few .
Its just that simple. - inactive, on 05/14/2008, -3/+11Really? Every 3G phone has GPS?
- Spamcan, on 05/14/2008, -0/+8I drain the battery dry every work day just from web browsing so I'd bet streaming TV would suck the life out of the thing pretty damn quick. Battery life aside I still have my fingers crossed for slingbox support once the SDK comes out, but any kind of streaming video is completely pointless unless they fix the speaker volume in the 3G iPhone. The current model is doesn't even come across as an audible whisper over any level of background noise and the recessed headphone port makes it impossible to plug in cheap iPod speakers.
- Lemon, on 05/14/2008, -2/+11Very old technique. Hilter used to work rallies into a frenzy by standing in front of the podium and remaining silent for minutes at a time. NOT that I'm comparing Apple to the Third Reich....
- acex23, on 05/14/2008, -0/+7i think you mean "iWant"
- Zyphron, on 05/14/2008, -2/+10In other rumors, the newest iPhone will also make you breakfast, give you a massage, and cuddle after.
- calroot, on 05/14/2008, -2/+9I tested out Qualcomm's MediaFLO service to watch streaming video and its amazing. If this is incorporated into iPhone, Apple will surely be dominate the 3G handheld device arena.
- piwy, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6Uh no, standard means somewhere there's a written down rule book about certain stuff (say a 3G phone) should always have.
Average just means it's a popular addition in the market. - inactive, on 05/14/2008, -5/+113G capability won't mean ***** on AT&T's network. Their coverage is demonstrably *****, so it doesn't matter what data rate the phone can handle.
- cgruber, on 05/14/2008, -1/+7***** no
- jhop, on 05/14/2008, -1/+7It seems that many people are conflating MediaFLO TV and 3G data. They are completely unrelated. MediaFLO (Advanced TV by ATT's name) is a "Forward Link Only" transmission that does not use the 3G radio. See: http://blog.orchardremote.com/?p=86
- timusca, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6S is hardly a bomb... more like a firecracker.
- SteveMax, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6This is one of the most unexpected applications of Godwin's Law ever.
- chevyorange, on 05/14/2008, -3/+9but what? Apple has proven that first to market isn't always the key. Its implementation.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6I think you got the right word.
Other than a few high-tech geeks with blogs -- I don't see ANYBODY running video.
I've been tracking some of the chips they are putting in this iPhone, and it looks like the LEAST it will do is 386k up and down -- that is the magic number for the base in quality streaming video-conferencing. The chips are capable of more.
It should also have the most capable graphics of any hand-held, surpassing every other gaming platform.
It all depends on the cell networks supporting HDSPA and faster bandwidth -- maybe always on connections.
This is a game changer here. You don't need any other internet connection and most of your computer based entertainment will stay on this phone -- if it has enough storage. You can at least download movies. - inactive, on 05/14/2008, -5/+11Apple doesn't do it. It's the no-lifer unpaid shills out there braying to anyone who'll listen. They've been doing it since elementary school, and they aren't about to stop now.
- jmreid, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6I think this might have something to do with needing a cross platform program to manage iPods, iPhones, etc. I'd love to see the Mac get native iPod support in the Finder, but that would require double the work on Apple's side for a Windows equivalent. With iTunes they have that platform already up and running.
Not ideal, but it works. Hell, I'm not sure what you're talking about. iTunes hasn't ever let me down with syncing contact, calendars, media, etc etc to my iPod or iPhone. - comradeTJH, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5Weeeehaaaaa... iPhone finally in Switzerland? Hell is already beginning to freeze over.
- JonesJohnson, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5You're utterly uttering the word "utterly" way to mother-uttering much.
K kinda stretched that last one. Utterly! -
