- mastercheif, on 10/10/2007, -15/+109Stop complaining. You knew when you bought the device, it cost $600. You bought it anyway. Just because Apple decides to drop the price, you feel entitled to compensation? I don't think it said "If there is a price drop, you will be compensated" on the receipt you got when you bought it. You are entitled to nothing. Next time, wait a little longer.
- Cannon13, on 10/10/2007, -13/+84Apple screwed you?!?! You screwed yourselves. Stop ***** whining and next time don't buy first generation Apple products month after launch.
- madcat033, on 10/10/2007, -7/+71Apple didn't screw ANYONE. They offered you a phone for $600, and you bought it. It was a voluntary exchange.
The fact that they changed the price does not affect you at all. You are no worse off now than you would be had the price stayed the same. Therefore, you are all just pissed off out of spite. Being spiteful is not an admirable quality and will get you nowhere in life.
/truth hurts - ScornForSega, on 10/10/2007, -12/+64If you're willing to spend $600 on a phone, you deserve to get screwed.
- postitnote, on 10/10/2007, -5/+48"So you get NOTHING! You LOSE! Good DAY sir."
- maximusGeek, on 10/10/2007, -4/+36ah.... so everyone should pay $600 because you did? Maybe you should stand in front of the Apple store with a empty cup and a sign that says "I spent $600 for mine.... please help"
- thatguy, on 10/10/2007, -7/+29I expected a price drop, just not this soon and big.
Purchased mine less than a month ago, I feel a bit burned. - incubowski, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23Does anyone else find the people that are saying "I am never buying another apple product again" slightly humorous. I bought a 60GB iPod photo when it was still called the iPod photo. It was $600, the black and white iPod still existed and was only $400. I was in college and I spent my whole signing bonus at the job I was about to start on the thing. A month later all iPods were color and mine now cost only $400. Same deal more or less as what happened with the iPhone. I know people are upset, I was too. I learned to get over it and wait next time. If you really like your apple device and were willing to pay that much for it in the first place then just be happy. If you hate apple and their products then you're not affected, even though I am sure some of you will still complain. I bought a new car recently, it dropped in value $4,000 when I drove it off the lot, it happens (I realize this wasn't a third the total value). Was this a bigger drop in a sooner time frame then people expected? Yeah, but it happens, if you like Apple's stuff then get over it, early adopters spending too much help the stock, help the company make money for R&D to make new products, and for anyone who hasn't bought yet, what a damn good price drop it was. A lot of people hate Apple because it's the company that makes it impossible for you to keep your wallet closed.
- evilpettingzoo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20There is always a price to pay to be an early adopter, you got your $200 out of it when you were showing it off to all your friends and making them cry.
- canewediggit, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20maybe you guys can form a support group with launch day ps3 owners and you can all hug it out and cry on each others' shoulders. and the rest of us can point and laugh.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16Oh my ***** god will there ever be an end to this bitching? All we ***** heard for a month or more was "$600 is too expensive!", now they drop the damn price and people are still bitching. They can't please you so please just stop bitching and don't buy another ting ever again.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12I think John Gruber over at Daring Fireball summed it up perfectly
"...and for those of you who’ve already bought one and are pissed about the price cut, if you didn’t think the iPhone was worth $599, you shouldn’t have bought it. That’s how supply and demand works." - jamesallen74, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12What a bunch of whining babies. Good grief, what do you expect? Prices drop! Would it have KILLED YOU to wait a freakin' month or 2 before you bought the latest and greatest thing? It's not killing me. And guess what, I get to save $200 because I don't NEED the iphone. So....jamesallen74 FTW!!!
Same with HDTVs. I still don't plan on buying one for another 2 years. By then prices will be REALLY good. Get over it people. You jumped the gun too quick. - Easty, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11"This is madness."
THIS... IS CAPITALISM! - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10The only ones that got 'screwed' were the ones who bought a refurb for $500 last week. Which, i'm sure if you're smart, you kept the receipt and can just return it.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Isn't this normal with cell phones?
- DarkStalker, on 10/10/2007, -13/+22You knowingly accepted the ***** in your ass when you decided to go with an Apple product, my friend.
- rodrigo74, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10You should expect a reply from His Jobness any minute now.
- jaguar2010, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11As Arnold says, "STOP WHINING!!!!
- ChrisXof, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12Just like most of you, I am pissed but that's usually the price to pay for being an early adopter... Sucks ass!!
- adam84a, on 10/10/2007, -9/+16Anyone stupid enough to buy a phone for $600 deserves to be screwed.
- lpmiller, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7It doesn't matter how soon from launch they dropped the price. Prices always drop, period. You always have the chance of buying something before a price drop, it's the way the free market works. Yes, it sucks, but it is part of the game. You'd actually be happy if they never dropped the price?
- eradicator, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Jerry: "Excuse me I'd like to return this iPhone."
Teller: "Certainly. May I ask why?"
Jerry: "........For spite..."
Teller: "Spite?"
Jerry: "That's right. I don't care for the company that sold it to me."
Teller: "I don't think you can return an item for spite."
Jerry: "What do you mean?"
Teller: "Well if there was some problem with the iPhone. If it were unsatisfactory in some way, then we could do it for you, but I'm afraid spite doesn't fit into any of our conditions for a refund"
Jerry: "That's ridiculous, I want to return it. What's the difference what the reason is."
Teller: "Let me speak with the manager...excuse me .............Bob!"
(walks over to the manager and whispers)
Teller "........spite....."(Manager walks over)
Bob: "What seems to be the problem?"
Jerry : "Well I want to return this iPhone and she asked me why and I said for spite and now she won't take it back."
Bob: "That's true. You can't return an item based purely on spite."
Jerry:. "Well So fine then ..then I don't want it and then that's why I'm returning it"
Bob: "Well you already said spite so......"
Jerry: "But I changed my mind.."
Bob: "No...you said spite...Too late." - noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11While I agree no one needs to be bitching about this your comment makes it pretty clear you haven't played with an iPhone. It is worth every penny.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Lowering prices is not screwing over customers who bought hte item before the drop.
- krugerlive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6hi,
I am an iphone user. I bought my iphone launch day and have loved it since. Mine works perfectly and does everything i had hoped it would. A lot of people are pissed about the price drop. Initially i was like "WTF" as well. however, a bit of logical thinking goes a long way. From when i bought my iphone up until the price drop announcement, i felt my iphone was awesome. I was already aware that i paid $600 for it, and that was fine by me. Now the iphone is $400, but i still paid $600. Why should i be mad? I was completely happy about my iphone this morning, and i still am now. When i bought the phone, i decided that $600 was a fair price for it, and i still do.
Its that "me me me" mindset that is leading people to claim boycotts on apple products because of a price drop. Personally, i am happy that my friends who wanted an iphone can now more easily afford it. I've already paid my money so i am losing nothing now because of an iphone price drop. So to the people complaining: Grow up! You win some, you lose some. You're not as precious or special as you think you are and if you aren't fine with the $600 you spent on the phone now, maybe you shouldn't have done it in the first place.
(to people who just very recently bought the iphone: Ouch, yeah, that does really suck) - omarciddo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I've played with the iPhone, and it's worth a few pennies, sure, just not *that many* pennies.
- CDRaff, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4He did you can buy ringtones, and songs through the phone...
- sean808080, on 10/10/2007, -18/+2230 days in and 200 bucks less. i am much less of an apple fan right about now.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Why would mac addicts be concerned about an iPhone?
- DarkStalker, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Pennies must be worth a lot less to you than to the rest of us then.
- berfmurret, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9jesus christ you kids are whiny pussies. you paid for it. you were willing to pay for it. it was only a matter of time before apple dropped the price and you knew it. wahh wahh wahhhh.
- samadam, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5He did. You can soon buy ringtones on your computer and you get a wifi itunes store app.
- suprememilo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Remember people the iPhone is a Cellphone, and what cellphone prices aren't crazily volatile? and its not always due to subsidys (sp?). I bought a Cingular 8125 for $350 last august and it was about $100 after a few months, it happens with cellphones, now theres room for the 3g iPhone in 6 months and when flash prices drop a 16gb iPhone, its technology people, no reason to get mad. Be glad you have an iPhone if you already have one, cause yea, you have an iPhone and most of us dont.
- ijustfloat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Pfft. The headline should read: "Disappointed That Brand New Technologies Dropped in Price? Here's a Guide on How to Bitch About it Like the Good Consumers You Are."
- monkeyrun, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5This is a capitalist society.
You don't like the price, don't buy it period. - Avor, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5HOW DARE APPLE DROP THE PRICES OF THEIR PRODUCTS!!!!!
- bacon_skoda, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4maybe for some, a 2 month bragging right was worth $200.
- fxspec06, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4If it's worth every penny, then why are people bitching about $200 here?
And how is it clear that he hasn't played with an iPhone? Maybe he has and can't justify paying $600 for a telephone. Maybe he won't ever buy an iPhone. He didn't say 'iPhone', he said 'phone', as in, don't spend $600 on any phone. - spidoman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3umm, two different groups whining. The groups opposing each other in fact.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Since when has Apple discounted hardware by this much, this soon?! You can't compare the iPhone to any other phone which has the carrier subsidize a portion of the cost.
- hahnemann, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6Hate to say "I told you so" jojojo
- HypocriteDigg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2As with every Apple story, there sure are a lot of dumbass anti-Apple zealots who post in it. How about you do something productive with your time besides posting about how much you hate stuff in forums?
Goddamn, no wonder America is the way it is. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3If you read the internets you'll know when new stuff is coming
- slightlyoffbeat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4And do what....bring the price back up? ALL early adopters should expect this. This is why I'm on the fence about the new Ipod touch. it looks awesome...but probably in 6 months will be cheaper (maybe even more storage).
- PasteEater, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4I couldn't agree more. I bought mine about two weeks after launch.
So, I guess what Apple is telling us is that buying their products at launch is a very bad idea that will cost you a lot of money.
I expected the price to drop. I just expected it to happen next year some time. Imagine if Sony or Microsoft pulled this with their consoles within two and a half months of launch. People would be livid. Apple should not get a pass just because they are Apple. - AvidPreatorian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2shut up
- Boiling_Frog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it."
- Publius Syrius - lazyrussian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Huge LOL @ Early Adopters. I don't feel one ounce of remorse for any of you.
- FunkstarDeLu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah, Steve Jobs would have a Common avatar :-D
