- selfdisplaced, on 02/29/2008, -1/+46"iNdependence for all" (but only if you have a Mac)
- mattgilberg, on 02/29/2008, -6/+36I'm stilled confused with this picture. What exactly does Napoleon humping an iphone have anything to do with independence?
- Z00L, on 02/29/2008, -8/+30In your face Zibri!!!!!
- superbnerd, on 02/29/2008, -0/+13According to wikipedia: Bonaparte then marched on Venice and forced its surrender, ending more than 1,000 years of independence
i suppose the image is a play on the fact that the software frees your phone, while napoleon enslaves countries? napoleon = apple? - 31213121, on 02/29/2008, -2/+15zibri: "this doesn't work on a Windows PC while my commercial ZiPhone does!!!!"
world: "there's also a Windows version of the hack available, which uses a hacked version of your ZiPhone: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=740"
* and btw, you can also just install OSX on your Windows PC: http://osx86.thefreesuite.com/ - Cusoon959, on 02/29/2008, -3/+15Thanks for being awesome! Zibri, go die in a hole please... the iPhone community needs to be more like this.
- TenebrousX, on 02/29/2008, -0/+10First of all, Paul Revere and the other colonists were British, so he would have said "the redcoats are coming"
Secondly, it's absolutely Napoleon: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_Crossing_the ... - FUNKMASTERNICE, on 02/29/2008, -0/+10Anything working for the iPod Touch 1.1.4? :(
- Enderplayer1, on 02/29/2008, -1/+11wow just wow.... I hope this guy is joking.Totally not Paul Revere most definitely Napoleon ( this is why the world hates us)
- adinb, on 02/29/2008, -0/+9*iPhone only. No Soup for iPod Touches!
- tjcarter, on 02/29/2008, -0/+9Yeah but the thing is that ziphone is STOLEN CODE. Zibri ripped off other people and put HIS name on it. And again, there was the jerry incident, where he intentionally and maliciously tried to frame developers for trying to make a fast buck. At the same time, he knew jerry didn't work (but did expose the exploit used. Zibri fanboys now go around saying they're GLAD Zibri burned the iPhone dev team exploit. They're glad he actively works to harm this community? Wait a minute.
There's also the little issue that ziphone can be used to steal an iphone and change its IMEI so that the cell networks can't tell you are using a stolen phone. That's illegal in ... every civilized country. I'd be more concerned about interpol than donations, if I were him. - br0wnstar, on 02/29/2008, -1/+9Still waiting for goddamn iPhones in Canada.
- Alternate, on 02/29/2008, -3/+11Now it would be nice if it could work on windows :/
- Shambla, on 02/29/2008, -0/+7http://www.batguano.com/bgma/david.html
- kajoob, on 02/29/2008, -1/+8Awesome logo.
- sunnyPwns, on 02/29/2008, -0/+6Operator and Planetbeing, you are awesome great guys. Thanks for making something good, just for the sake of it, without being d**ckheads, or money-hungry bozos. How nice to see someone not making grandiose announcements every five minutes, or promising something "if you donate". You rock!!
- daltonvoss99, on 02/29/2008, -5/+11Wow, not-stolen code, too! Go ***** yourself, Zibri!
- likwidfuzion, on 02/29/2008, -0/+6ZiPhone isn't even an operating system. No relevance whatsoever.
- sunnyPwns, on 02/29/2008, -1/+7Ahh... you miss the point. There's a world of difference between someone who used to claim he was good because he refused to take donations (and then turns around to ask for them), and the true good guys who do it for the love of the game. Not to mention, they did it cleanly without ripping off Apple's code/files/etc. If we're gonna behave like adults, let's start with avoiding copyright infringment, shall we? Touché!
- macropneuma, on 02/29/2008, -0/+6He's riding it to wherever he want's to go! Get it! - just light-hearted sillyness.
- kkiran, on 02/29/2008, -4/+9Zibri wants some money but dev team wins this time around!! Use this app at your own risk guys. No OTB 1.1.4 for sure...
- b1llyb0y, on 02/29/2008, -9/+14Zibri -- suck my balls and lick my taint
- Turbojugend27, on 02/29/2008, -5/+10too bad this is a hack job, and doesn't do a real upgrade. oh and it also downgrades the baseband back to 1.1.2. At least Zibri will also have a new baseband that 1.1.4 has, that makes features in Maps better.
***** you guys are idiots, look into what you are yapping about before making stupid comments. - catachip, on 02/29/2008, -0/+5Same reason why some people prefer Porches or BMWs over a KIA piece of *****. Both get you from A to B. But one is aesthetically pleasing and isn't a piece of *****.
- roosterjm2k2, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4It's for scale...
- dbbblondon, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4fair point i didn't know the background - I can see why some people arn't happy about it now thanks. Having said that i was impressed with Ziphone, I had bricked my iPhone and it just kinda worked which was what I needed....1.1.3 working fine now (i'm still on a cloud about it yay!)
- TBoneFever, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4"Why people bother buying iPhones when they are locked down, I dunno."
I bought one because they're ***** cool. But that's just me. My iphone isn't hacked, and I love it. Hack it to make it work properly? WTF are you talking about? - flxfxp, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3Just for being awesome
- ThankTheCheese, on 02/29/2008, -4/+7why are people turning on Zibri all of a sudden? I think he's entitled to ask for a donation.
- keozen, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3I can run Winblows on my mac in a VM session too, so what?
Yeah, they sell you their hardware, they're a hardware manufacturer after all. - DeathJux, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3Wow, I had no idea about any of this... now all the "***** Zibri" comments seem fairly justified. Crazy.
- likwidfuzion, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3If the other phones are so good, why aren't they getting any press? Good marketing can only go so far.
- godofpumpkins, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3the point is that he's entitled to ask for donations for work he's done, not if he steals devteam work and releases it under his name with no credits (and with "***** you devteam", no less)
given that he's making $400 a day off of this in adwords, and making loads in donations, when he previous bashed the devteam for accepting donations, I'd say that he's become a money-whore, who needs to claim this is his own work to keep the income flowing. - adinb, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3Bug fixes. My iPod Touch 1.1.3 has all kinds of weirdness, like constant springboard resets...so I'm all about increased stability...
- virtualball, on 02/29/2008, -2/+5Paraphrasing: "I'm sorry 16 GB iPods are crashing, but I won't revoke the "works with iPod Touch" line! If you send me a 16 GB iPod Touch, I'll try and fix the problem. Try."
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2His bill isn't any higher than anyone else's. The data plan is a flat rate. EDGE isn't the best technology available, but betterth just told you that it works plenty well enough.
- inactive, on 02/29/2008, -2/+4Yeah it is. You know how you can tell? People are buying them.
Your priorities are not my priorities. Pull your head out of your ass. - highPhone, on 02/29/2008, -2/+4iNdependance is good, but not quite as easy as Zibri's Ziphone. I tried both yesterday and only ziphone was able to successfully open up my 1.1.4 iphone here in Canada. I actually used a modified version of ziphone found here at iClarified http://www.iclarified.com/
100% jailbroken, activated, and unlocked, data plan working, and Locate me is good =D
don't trash on Zibri, in the black hat society, all that matters is the end result, not how you get there. Otherwise we wouldn't be hacking these iPhones at all!
/peace - archivist, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2well, it looks majestic, i guess.
- gravytrain73, on 02/29/2008, -1/+3True fact.
- surfing, on 02/29/2008, -1/+3That's not Napoleon, this is:
http://www.aboyd.com/images/npimage22.jpg - pjr12345, on 02/29/2008, -2/+4Unless you're using it almost exclusively on a WiFi network, its browser's advantage is lost to the lousiness that EDGE is.
The real break-through of the IPhone is not technical at all, it is content control. With the IPhone, Apple became the first device manufacturer to wrest control of content from a wireless operator. That is the real hallmark of this device. - betterth, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2Wrong fact.
I use over a hundred megabytes of EDGE traffic a month on my bill. I browse Digg, Reddit, read online stories, read my webcomics, read WoWInsider, Massively, Autoblog -- generally everything I would do online anyway without any real complaints. Sure, I'd love for it to be faster, but it's not a terrible speed.
It's CERTAINLY not a dealbreaker, certainly certainly certainly not. - ThankTheCheese, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2replying to my own comment to refer you to dbbblondon thread above (#c13238867) which answers my question.
- defwheezer, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2teh Blasphemy!
- tlow, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1No. Idiot.
- gravytrain73, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Not Vermont.
- archivist, on 02/29/2008, -2/+3loved the napoleon logo
- dragon76, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1It said it MIGHT work with the touch but it didn't work for me. With "bug fixes" being the reason to update to 1.1.4, I don't see the relevance. When the iPhone updates it also changes the basebands,, so it's a different story between iPhone and Touch.
- dragon76, on 02/29/2008, -4/+5That must really suck to be a Windows user where you buy a piece of hardware and all the cool hacking utilities don't run on your OS. Must really suck.
