- rogerhenry, on 07/13/2009, -2/+68Tethering hack is the best by far
- W2Dastein, on 07/14/2009, -2/+54That "Z to stop auto-correct" trick is going to add 5 years to my life due to lowered blood pressure. I guess this makes up for my lack of flossing.
- LeechesOfKarma, on 07/13/2009, -1/+34Ahh, the 5th row on the keyboard is so nice.
- chooochooo, on 07/14/2009, -2/+31I want to switch my blackberry for one of these babies.
- ehaugan, on 07/14/2009, -5/+33Plus, you're stuck in Canada.
- snagra, on 07/14/2009, -2/+28I'm surprised that no one has come up with a way yet to get the official video camera app to work on the 3G..
- Twoje, on 07/14/2009, -0/+19I'm surprised that no one has come up with a way yet to get the official voice command app to work on the 3G..
- ShrayMonks, on 07/14/2009, -0/+17Too bad it doesn't work yet on 3.0
- digitalpencil, on 07/14/2009, -0/+16hi, i just thought i'd point out to you that everyone hates pseudo-intellectual, grammar nazi, i don't own a phone or a tv, i read Russian literature, enhance your life *****.
seriously dude, get over yourself and quit pretending. you can't go against the grain by purposefully steering against it and lingering around on the internet on threads about subjects which apparently hold no interest for you doesn't make you subversive, it just makes you a prick. - cjw10, on 07/14/2009, -1/+15Your mad you don't have one.
- nickbr00tality, on 07/14/2009, -0/+14I can copy and paste too!
- volcompimp, on 07/14/2009, -0/+14Lame... Restore firmware to stop app crashes? Has anyone ever heard of CLOSING programs
w/ SBSettings? - Philbert, on 07/14/2009, -1/+14Dugg for not everything on the list requiring jailbreaking. That and the Emoji I now have.
- lunachique, on 07/14/2009, -0/+11Emoji: Because my life wasn't complete before I could send smiling pieces of poop to my friends.
- bixby1, on 07/14/2009, -0/+10Agree, It's like flying business class on a phone.
- Raptor007, on 07/14/2009, -0/+9Cycorder was designed for the lesser cameras of the 2G and 3G, so even if the 3GS app worked, I think Cycorder would still be your best bet.
- fragmit, on 07/14/2009, -1/+10You know why battery life goes down from Blackberry to iPhone? Cause you are using your phone more. I know, crazy!
- glasszach, on 07/14/2009, -0/+9I just want to reiterate 'ponemnk' s question, Has anyone tried the tethering, and are there addition charges from AT&T??
This would be great, I'm tired of bending over once monthly for AT&T to ***** me in the ass for bad service, and astronomical charges, so that their CEO can end up on the top paid CEO list. But I can forgive all that if I can have ***** Tethering! - takua108, on 07/14/2009, -0/+9Can someone explain to me the technical reason for how "Spell Number" works? Also, why is Emoji hidden by default? Is it *not* hidden on Japanese iPhones by default, or something? :\
- blackinthmiddle, on 07/14/2009, -0/+9Well for people like me who've jailbroken their phones from the get go, let's just put it this way: it hasn't been a problem. Technically, you would imagine that they could figure out if you're tethering or not. For example, if you're on their network and streaming an flv file but it's not coming from youtube, it's a fair bet you're tethered.
Now, does AT&T have the inclination (and do they want to waste money) to monitor their network, playing detective? Again, they haven't done it to the jailbroken community yet. - stevieraveon, on 07/14/2009, -1/+9You don't have to have an iphone. Go get a pen and paper and buy a stamp and send it using snail mail.
- hiro, on 07/14/2009, -2/+10Any letter will do, doesn't have to be Z. If you have unlocked, you can turn off the Autocorrect in SBSettings
- crash331, on 07/14/2009, -1/+9Then this program isn't for you.
It bugs the piss out of me, however, so it might be for me. - OneManArmy, on 07/14/2009, -0/+7The push gmail hack is pretty stupid because it requires a Mac running at all times.
- likwidfuzion, on 07/14/2009, -0/+7The video quality and recording performance between Cycorder and the native 3GS recorder is night and day.
- lfroker, on 07/14/2009, -0/+7Cellphones aren't going away. Get used to it.
- minnecrapolis, on 07/14/2009, -0/+7Don't you mean you are back to saf?
- Raptor007, on 07/14/2009, -0/+7I've had auto-correct off from day 1 with my iPhone. Once you get used to typing accurately, you don't need it.
- ponemnk, on 07/14/2009, -0/+7I want to try it but does anyone know if AT&T can detect it and charge you an incredible amount if you do so by seeing other data charges or what not.
- mizuhri, on 07/14/2009, -0/+6Agreed. I got really excited, installed it and now I'm back to sad.
- Zippo, on 07/14/2009, -2/+8Poor Americans, having to hack to tether...
Albeit, we Canadians still lose by not having hulu. - chedabob, on 07/14/2009, -0/+6For now you'll just have to jailbreak and put up with Cycorder. It'd be pretty trivial to make a video recorder with the official SDK, but Apple would never approve it.
- minnecrapolis, on 07/14/2009, -0/+6You don't have to have it jailbroken.
Go to Settings/General/Keyboard and turn it off right there. - FAHQ2, on 07/14/2009, -0/+6Yeah but Americans have unlimited data plans that actually make tethering useful.
Also their cell phone plans in general are much cheaper then what "Robbers" offers us Canadians. - Russell89, on 07/14/2009, -0/+6bruce willis is a ghost !
- jsauter, on 07/14/2009, -0/+5Raptor007,
It's more marketing and product differentiation then actual hardware capabilities. - Raptor007, on 07/14/2009, -0/+5Thanks to the 3.0 update. :¬)
- paulsmith288, on 07/14/2009, -1/+6Was hoping the lock rotate would work in landscape mode. No. Nothing worse when you and the phone disagree about which way is down.
- n4tune8, on 07/14/2009, -1/+6So do I. But my company still claims the iPhone is not secure enough... sigh
- ScrewedThePooch, on 07/14/2009, -1/+6troll ftl
- Cerialthriller, on 07/14/2009, -1/+5i just did over the weekend and its wonderful!
- bobbo12, on 07/14/2009, -0/+4From the ATT Terms of Service:
Furthermore, plans(unless specifically designated for tethering usage) cannot be used for any applications that tether the device (through use of, including without limitation, connection kits, other phone/PDA-to computer accessories, BLUETOOTH® or any other wireless technology) to Personal Computers (including without limitation, laptops), or other equipment for any purpose....Accordingly, AT&T reserves the right to (i) deny, disconnect, modify and/or terminate Service, without notice, to anyone it believes is using the Service in any manner prohibited or whose usage adversely impacts its wireless network or service levels or hinders access to its wireless network...
Tether at your own risk, it is against the rules and they can cancel your service if they catch you - JTMON, on 07/14/2009, -2/+6Yes like idiotic comments about an imaginary inflationary cost of ownership.
- JTMON, on 07/14/2009, -0/+4Proxy servers are your friend canuck!
- scsikiddy, on 07/14/2009, -3/+7Uhhh, a couple of grand?!
By the way, I'll sell you part of the Golden Gate bridge for only a quarter of that. - lunachique, on 07/14/2009, -0/+4I wasn't being sarcastic. It's my favorite app to date.
- scsikiddy, on 07/14/2009, -0/+4Actually, awesome tip. Thanks.
- NomortaL1, on 07/14/2009, -5/+9yea, apple has way too much proprietary crap
