- PhattyPhattMatt, on 11/12/2008, -1/+15you have to buy a case of iPhones at costco to get the $149 price.
1 case = 27 iPhones - gubbie, on 11/12/2008, -2/+8I love costco
Who doesn't love the all samples out on the weekends... come on. - Zybergod, on 11/12/2008, -2/+8That's it. That convinces me to get a Costco membership. iPhone deals and coffins. What more could you ask for?
- cdawzrd, on 11/12/2008, -2/+7What's this? Now we have frontpage articles with multiple news blurbs, at least one of them (Google video chat) already on the frontpage?
- cdigioia, on 11/12/2008, -1/+6Aw...I was hoping it would just be single iphones in over sized blister packs for no ***** reason at all.
- lmcintyre, on 11/12/2008, -1/+4So one of the most secretive companies in the world gave out pricing information to walmart employees?
- epadafunk, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2most people can't get gas for 1.90 a gallon, stop being a bitch and think about people other than yourself.
- jboitnott, on 11/12/2008, -3/+5This might finally get me to drop price concerns and purchase a Blackberry -- because they may drop their price too.
- gabe37, on 11/12/2008, -1/+3Deja vu almost.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2from 600 initially to 149? I wonder how much it really costs to make that phone.
- mrsteveman1, on 11/12/2008, -1/+3I don't think most users are comparing the 2.
And the people who are comparing the 2, are well aware the touch lacks a 2 year contract with the $50+ monthly fees. - JDRay, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Google's touted new "AV Chat" link produces a 404 error. Not very Googlish of them.
http://unifex.net/Google404.png - blergle, on 11/12/2008, -1/+2Well you have to ask what the point is of selling low res movies at a price more expensive than you could buy the Blu-Ray and get HD with all the extra features, especially when it's effectively costing them nothing to distribute as opposed to the physical product.
Buying a movie on iTunes as it stands is a total and utter rip off. - PilotHead, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1obviously not you, cancel your membership, good bye 90 return policy, good bye early termination fee waiver. you saved $30 bucks and threw away a lot more.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+2I wish people would get it in their head that their time costs money. You'll see someone that makes minimum wage, spend hundreds each month on a car just so he doesn't have to waste time waiting for the bus, only to spend 1/2 hour driving to costco, 45 mins wandering around inside and waiting in those stupid lines, then drive another 1/2 hour back all to save $15.
- adamk0310, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1How can something be "more confirmed"?
- chkdg8, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1I saw this coming:
"What sources if any Chowdhry uses to support the claim haven't been revealed, casting some doubt on the authority of the report. However, his research note comes on the heels of AppleInsider's news that Orange France will run a promo lowering its price to 99 euros in a promo that will end in January." - mousky, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1Not $600 ;)
- PilotHead, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1It sounds like bull, I actually work for Costco cell phone sales, they would never let us sale it under our sales (free activation and free car charger, carry case, wired headset)
- HiddenCanuck, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1Hmmm, i assume there's a contract till 2028?
I'm running the G1 iphone jailbroken from someone who upgraded. Probably the only guy you know who runs an iphone on $10 a month :) - Zippo, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1AV chat compatibility with Gmail would be killer. I wish Adium would support AV chat :(
AIM and Gmail also need to support 4-on-4 video chat, so iChat can take advantage of that.
AV is really crippled on the Mac. iChat is amazing, but no one uses it. In Canada, everyone uses MSN... and there's no AV support for MSN on the Mac. For me, I use Adium for regular chat... and Skype for AV. - jmajcan, on 11/12/2008, -2/+2This will go great with my $800 Macbook.
- iamsmooth, on 11/12/2008, -2/+2I hope Canadian Costco will get the iPhone :D
- frogman54, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1I'm just going to stop by and try the iPhone free samples. Not sure where they'll jab the toothpick though.
- senixon, on 11/12/2008, -2/+2I love how people get excited about rumors. Not to mention it's only $50 price drop, it's nice but nothing to get excited about... how much does it cost to fill up your car? Don't know about you but it's about $50 these days and... that's once a week. Not being negative, I think it's hell of a value, but just nothing to get exsited about... go buy one today for $199, you wont regret it.
- Protoss, on 11/12/2008, -2/+2$50 to fill up at ~$1.90/gallon? I have a 20 gallon tank and it costs $35.
- DickyT83, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1It's not the price of the iPhone that's an issue here, it's the damn ETF's that are forcing people to stay with their current carrier.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1How on earth would a shop monkey like you know this??
Even people in Apple stores don't get to know anything advance - jmarkgraf, on 11/12/2008, -2/+2Costco Rocks!
- mousky, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1From Costco.com:
"Membership: We will refund your membership fee in full at any time if you are dissatisfied."
Who is the smart one? - hypermite, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1let's hope we would be able to return the iphone with no questions.
- sdizzle, on 11/12/2008, -0/+0We've had it since launch day in Canada. Costco in Canada has Wireless Etc booths that are run by the same company that runs Wireless Wave and TBooth which just happens to be the only company outside of Rogers/Fido stores that carries the iPhone.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -2/+2but it's such a good deal, I'll probably buy a case.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -0/+0I'll confirm what sdizzle said. I've never stopped in for the details but it seems they're a reseller for both Rogers and Bell. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Telus and Bell switch over to GSM.
- winmywii, on 11/12/2008, -2/+1It should be free
- mrsteveman1, on 11/12/2008, -2/+1What does it have to drop to get excited about it? Half?
- Barackalypse, on 11/12/2008, -3/+2Please stop quoting the up front price of items that require lengthy service plans that far exceed the initial purchase price. With the amount AT&T is charging monthy for service, they should be paying you to TAKE the damn iPhone.
- Barackalypse, on 11/12/2008, -2/+1Which is an even worse problem with the iPhone, since its permanently stuck to AT&T.
- PilotHead, on 11/12/2008, -2/+1um, you do realize that Costco membership is $50 to join, so:
$149 + $50= $199
vs
Apple/Online/AT&T Store $179 + $0 (membership)= $179
You sure are a smart shopper....... - leif77, on 11/12/2008, -4/+2I work at walmart and were going to start carrying iphones and when we do they'll be for 150 with contract...
- mrsteveman1, on 11/12/2008, -3/+1They can't be used together though =(
- dizzy113, on 11/12/2008, -6/+1I doubt it will drop to $149. Even though at&t is covering a lot of the cost, people still see it as apple selling it and then they will get pissed when the iPod touch is so much more.
- marshallpeck, on 11/12/2008, -12/+1I hate costco
mostly for the membership fee/ sorry attitude
DIE APPLE INSIDER!
