- bixby1, on 11/13/2009, -2/+67The romantic in me likes to think some Frat guys made the steal of a lifetime.
- borez, on 11/14/2009, -2/+49I'd rather see the whale mural.
- thelock65, on 11/14/2009, -6/+39so.... planet self-storage sells whales?
- ghostrc, on 11/13/2009, -0/+29"This weekend, Planet Storage on Traveler Street removed its iPod Touch sign and revealed to drivers on Interstate 93 the ocean-inspired public art."
http://www.bostonherald.com/business/general/view. ... - d1ckinabox, on 11/14/2009, -1/+26This has to be one of the most misleading titles I've read in a long time...
- JHole04, on 11/14/2009, -3/+17That whale mural is beautiful, why cover it with an advertisement?
- Super6, on 11/14/2009, -0/+10To make money
- undervalued, on 11/14/2009, -0/+9Research!
- mp3dog, on 11/14/2009, -4/+12This is so stupid. It would be SO EASY to comply with the state's requirement of actually selling the product advertised on the building. The property owner could get a couple of iPods, mark them up at a ridiculous price so that nobody would actually buy them, and place them in a display case for sale at the front desk. Problem solved.
- amitait, on 11/14/2009, -3/+10iTook it
- Tyler324, on 11/14/2009, -0/+7Covering murals with giant advertisements... I think we are going the wrong direction here. Whats next, wallpapering trees? "This giant sequoia has been brought to you by Carl's Jr."
- JakeBC, on 11/14/2009, -0/+7So would that be an iPod of whales?
- Perk, on 11/14/2009, -0/+6The Whales are a Wyland mural:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyland
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Whaling_Walls - TylerDuhrdan, on 11/14/2009, -1/+7Maybe Boston took it down because they thought it was another terrorism advert.
- Heiliger, on 11/14/2009, -0/+5If it was MIT, a giant LED Tetris game would be playing overtop of the whales, and there would be a fire truck on top of the scaffolding.
- Almightymole, on 11/14/2009, -0/+4No, but they sell sell whale sized storage however.
- mahDigga, on 11/14/2009, -2/+6Blame MIT.
- MrZaiko, on 11/14/2009, -1/+4How many Smoots long is this billboard? hehehe
- Fragrag, on 11/14/2009, -1/+4It's rather tacky though
- smihalik, on 11/14/2009, -1/+4You obviously do not own a business. There are tons and tons of laws like this everywhere. Signs can only be of a certain size, Can't flash, can only be displayed on certain parts of the building, on certain outside walls etc etc. These laws are designed to protect the look of the city. They don't want the city to look like an advertising company threw up all over the place.
- AROZ, on 11/14/2009, -1/+4Tacky or not, to cover it up with ads seems misguided from a community standpoint.
- jaamzw, on 11/14/2009, -2/+4now they ....nevermind, joenaguib beat me
- rossisdead, on 11/14/2009, -2/+4Buried for you.
- raza7370, on 11/14/2009, -3/+5The owner of the business should be able to put whatever the hell he wants on the wall of his building.
- Fhwqhgads, on 11/14/2009, -0/+2as long as he sells it.
- Fhwqhgads, on 11/14/2009, -1/+3>>>They don't want the city to look like an advertising company threw up all over the place.
Yeah, the TV and Internet are bad enough. At least I can block it on the Internet. - joelcass, on 11/14/2009, -0/+2I was at an ATM last week when it all freaky & rebooted - the boot screen was for OS2/WARP - now that was funny to me.
- datagod, on 11/14/2009, -0/+2I left it in my 17,400foot other pair of pants.
- LETHARGICpirate, on 11/14/2009, -1/+2There is a whale mural like that right across the street from Comerica Park in Detroit. Ever since Detroit hosted the All-Star game in 2006 a giant Verizon ad has covered it. Every time I go there I wish I could still see the mural.
- g3r4, on 11/15/2009, -0/+1And I should be able to keep 4 rusting Ford trucks (all of them from 1970-1985) that don't run on my front lawn. And my neighbor should be able to put up a 25ft iron fence, and build a guard tower with a functioning spotlight. Alas, we live in an unfair world.
- yacks, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1and the whales don't pay him for having their ad on the building.
- joelcass, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1went* ^
now I'M rebooted...... - jonahan52, on 11/17/2009, -1/+1Too bad the store doesn't sell dildo's ...
- JoeNaguib, on 11/14/2009, -3/+3So I guess now they have to sell whales?
- muffcakes, on 11/14/2009, -5/+5So are they selling whales? Otherwise I don;t know if they can display that.
- marklar69, on 11/15/2009, -1/+1Sweet I was looking for a place to buy a whale.
- sierrabravo, on 11/15/2009, -1/+1Admiral, there be whales here!
- smihalik, on 11/14/2009, -1/+1exactly
- georgefw, on 11/14/2009, -2/+1banksy?
- ScientistBlah, on 11/14/2009, -7/+5It's kinda ***** that he has to sell the product he's advertising on his wall. The owner of the business should be able to put whatever the hell he wants on the wall of his building(with some obvious exceptions).
- MrZaiko, on 11/14/2009, -6/+4http://digg.com/apple/AppleInsider_Apple_s_illegal ... =(
- twotoedsleuth, on 11/14/2009, -7/+3God doesn't keep track of his iPod very well.
- jayp900, on 11/14/2009, -6/+1aw man..i loved seeing that banner when driving by it on the highway
- mercuryfenix, on 11/14/2009, -9/+4It would be awesome if one could find a big ass Windows ad and replace it with a big ass blue screen of death :P
- casspa, on 11/13/2009, -12/+2Microsoft trickery afoot?
- Ziriux, on 11/13/2009, -15/+5Holly crap! Well at least it's a nice looking ad.
- KimballO, on 11/13/2009, -18/+3How do you lose 13,000 square feet of awesomeness.
