13.3-inch MacBooks on the way?

engadget.com — We've been operating under the assumption that Apple will call their new consumer line of laptops MacBook, as opposed to the pro line of MacBook Pro. Maybe we just spend too much time thinking about Apple's naming schemes, and this probably doesn't change anything.

  • mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I never understood the crazy amount of dupes when Digg spits them back at you with a big warning message while submitting, yet people still proceed. It's an ego thing, I guess.

    And past history shows that spelling, punctuation, or well-written headlines don't mean much (unfortunately). Exclamation marks and "title says it all" should be filtered. Illiterate descriptions and headlines make Digg suck sometimes. And by sometimes, I mean way too often.

  • inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4My powerbook will probably suit me just fine for at least a couple more years, but when I buy a new one down the road, I might aim for TINY instead of BIG. Lugging around my laptop does kind of suck, even though the Apple 17" powerbooks are fairly slim and light.

    I'm so tired of speculation and excitment around something so obvious and inevitable.

    I would think that you don't put "Pro" after something if it isn't a step up from another product. A MacBook. Just my opinion.

  • velo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's right, not that I have checked this particular story, but there should be a small box with links to the original story below the description - at least, if the frickin' URL is identical. There would be very simple ways to circumvent that (like #anchors or ?dead=variables in the URL), but at least you know that the dupe is intentional.

    This was as off-topic as it gets, sorry, but I'd still like it.

    i wonder what they'll call the powermac? the powerbook is now known as the macbook pro, or mcbook pro. i wonder if they'll call it the mcmac? hey, that kinda has a ring to it!

At least submit the original article if you're going to repost. Also goes to show that some people will digg anything that has to do with apple rumors. I'm not saying i don't believe this or it's not what i want, but this was a poor digg.
  • roessnakhan, on 08/28/2008, -1/+2Give me a break. I've used a Windows machine all my life and have used my friend's Powerbook every now and then. Once you know the command to do an equivalent "right-click" you don't even care anymore, it becomes instinctual within a few minutes.

  • ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As a student I am thinking the same think, i would even go for a 12 inch.. but in the "couple years" my living conditions will change, i wont be hauling my laptop to all these classes, but to work and then back - and i can see how the extra screen size would be nicer if im not as mobile.

    I say this looking at my older brothers experience.

    It's great not having to compromise between mobility and power - I have one machine that does one thing well, and another that does another thing well.

    Something tells me, when I grow up, I'm going to own a pickup truck and a little sporty car...

    But they said they wanted to have the word "Mac" in it, and that is why they did powerbook -> macbook pro. They might do Macbook for iBook, but the iMac has mac in it already... so that isnt really evidence either way - it satisfies their current and past naming criteria - plus iMac has brand identity.

    In other news, some analyst out there claims to have the lowdown on the release of the next "iBook" or iPod every week in every month of the year folks. A child's story about their imaginary friend is more reliable than this bunk.

    Anyways, Mac is synonomous with apple so it makes sense to cram the word mac into every apple product they can
