- guyincognito, on 03/14/2008, -1/+24since when can an iphone scan your thumb print?
- julianwan, on 03/14/2008, -7/+27At this point in the iPhone's development, I think it would be much more helpful to know what future apps we WON'T be getting.
- rockstar1o9, on 03/14/2008, -0/+19Wait for 3G support
- Ranvier, on 03/14/2008, -1/+20People tagging? I'd rather not have people just taking pictures of me, tagging them and adding them to a database.
- kenvsryu, on 03/14/2008, -1/+19copy and paste please.
- dizilbdog, on 03/14/2008, -3/+17How about a Remote Control option so I can control my T.V my Fios DVR and my macbook pro all while sitting on my ass..
- DidntYouHear, on 03/14/2008, -8/+19Just jot that note down in your iPho.... Oh.
- polyGone, on 03/14/2008, -0/+8Well, technically this is for just about any computing device. A future iPhone app would take advantage of the multi-touch and tilt sensor.....This article just seems to throw iPhone into his quasi-cool fantasies.
- Darph.Bobo, on 03/14/2008, -4/+12I'll take that bet and you already look and sound stupid.
- flap, on 03/14/2008, -1/+8I think they mistook the iphone for a futuristic GPS device.
- Burritoking924, on 03/14/2008, -0/+6I think he meant copy and paste functionality on the iPhone.
- Fergi, on 03/14/2008, -1/+7How could they leave Monkey Ball off of this list?!?!!?1(one)
- Daniel591992, on 03/14/2008, -0/+5SlingPlayer anyone?
- RedS0x, on 03/14/2008, -1/+6I think it would be much easier to snap a picture than to open Safari (or use the WebClip,) type in the title, find what you want/tap it, and add it to your cart.
Better yet though, a bar code reader like Delicious Library!
http://www.delicious-monster.com/ - mkpaa, on 03/14/2008, -0/+5I wonder why the article mentions iPhone. Those applications are for mobile phones in general. (Reminder, Nokia and Sony-Ericsson still make better phones than Apple) :)
Article doesn't mention real-time "synchronization" of your data. It shouldn't take long until all your calendars (not just google calendars) will be automatically synchronized. Also applications for Yahoo Fire eagle -like products will be huge (like the physical social networks). - TimmyDax, on 03/14/2008, -3/+7This was *****. The article was blatantly written about a geo-tagging social networking amazon-fueling Device of Some Sort, not the iPhone at all. Seriously, L00K wherever it refers to the iPhone (or rather just iPhone) specifically, or a the end? This article was written quite well, and I'm sure many of these things will come to pass (probably not on an apple product first though, by any means), though some of these are huge privacy concerns. This article was hacked apart and had iPhones and horrible english stitched into it by a blind monkey. And then had a link-baiting title stamped on, for good measure, not about the SDK, or even the iPhone. Buried as Inaccurate.
No-one's really mentioned that they made a pseudo-IB for web-apps in dashcode, is pretty cool, plus full-screen mode, should increase value of web-apps. Not all apps need to be local. - holyreality, on 03/14/2008, -0/+4kind of a misleading title. and I think most of those concepts don't have a whole lot of practical application.
- 0260, on 03/14/2008, -0/+4i was expecting something like TI calculator emulator, file browser with ftp and infrared remote control. things that you would find on my phone.
- sketcher67, on 03/14/2008, -0/+4I work in the Medical Records field and we have a hard enough time making records digital so don't expect this anytime soon.
- filemeaway, on 03/14/2008, -3/+7Think before you make ignorant comments. Most everyday products you use were not invented in response to demand. Research ftw, friend.
- tracydanger, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3Now imagine if Delicious Library makes an app for the iPhone that works with the desktop app. #11 on this list made me think of this. ("take a picture of a book in the store and have it immediately appear in your Amazon shopping cart.") - if you could use the camera to scan bar codes and catalog your existing stuff or scan it to bring you to the Amazon page where you can buy it. That would be easier to program than taking a picture of the book cover and that would be awesome.
- EtherGnat, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3Many Windows Mobile phones have an IR port and there are some killer universal remote apps out there. It's awesome to be able to control TVs in places like waiting rooms and when the home remote gets misplaced.
- JoshChris, on 03/14/2008, -15/+18*mental note* I've gotta get myself an iPhone sometime soon.
- lougoose, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3The site isn't down yet, and isn't even going slow....
- threemagic, on 03/14/2008, -3/+6"12 Future Apps For Your iPhone"
Hmm that's a heck of a prediction. My iphone? What do you know that I don't? - taxali, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3If anybody starts tagging my body i'm chucking their iPhone
- jarjarbinx, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2Right now, you can control a Mac or a PC using the Touchpad app on a jailbroken phone using VNC networking. I'm sure an official version will be available.
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -3/+5A nice mixture of BS, stuff Microsoft is already working on, and fantasy.
- threemagic, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2@tomwoo2: I've thought that. His pretend foreign attempt at English comes off a little 1930's TV version of native american speak.
How! Me go town. Me go where bad guys are, Kemosabi. - underburn, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2You wouldnt need IR if its connected to your network.
- vwerf, on 03/14/2008, -5/+7How can anyone say that all those are useless. #10 Digital Medical records on your iPhone is perhaps the best Idea i've heard yet. Just make it secure through a thumb print scan (which the iPhone already does) and you have secure medical records for the Doctors to review.
If you get rushed to the hospital for any reason the Dr. instantly knows what you are allergic to and what medications you take even if your out cold and can't talk. It's the kind of revolution in medicine that is long overdue. - nlaskin, on 03/14/2008, -3/+5There are going to be so many apps, I can't wait to see what kind of things people come up with!
- biggoron318, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2All I want is some friggin' MMS....
- souljaboytellem, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2I don't know, I can think of several situations where I will need the Red Light..
- RedS0x, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2WOW.
- bitspace, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2HIPAA to the rescue, right? That's about as much of a thorn in the side of IT in the medical industry as SOX is in the finance industry.
- patpi, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2you won't get A LOT of good apps, just read this http://digg.com/apple/The_Problem_With_The_Iphone_ ...
- deadbaby, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2I'm sure there will be a lot of interesting apps but there's going to be a flood of these insipid social networking apps too and that's kinda sad since it will make people think I care where they are and what they're doing 24x7. (for the record, I do not)
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2Well, a few months ago we were told we wouldn't be getting proper downloadable software for the iPhone.
- DBNKR, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2So did I. And divX-support. Torrent.
- sketcher67, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2ha! someone took it too literal
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2How about Themes, Wireless printing, True internet radio (sirius or xm), Flash, The ability to save files, and pics from the web browser, etc
- EtherGnat, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2I've thought about that for years. Even a low powered phone should be able to recognize a photo of a barcode automatically and launch a web app for online prices, reviews, and even local prices when combined with GPS.
- HolyChimp, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Most of these apps seem to rely heavily on the pseudo-GPS, which doesn't work nearly as well here in the UK. "You're somewhere in Manchester!" Most of the time it just tell's me it has no clue though. Here's hoping for GPS in the iPhone 2!
- robszol, on 03/14/2008, -0/+12. People Tagging - Welcome to the future stalking service
- kenvsryu, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Cover flow with controls.
- bitspace, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Depending upon where you live, your government might already do this.
- rinocom, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Everyone knows what the iPhone really needs is Enterprise features, encryption, and remote whipe. There are already a load of "early adopters" in the business sector, and all else are holding for these few things. You give outlook sync, encrypted stores, and remote whipe and folks will be flooding over to the iPhone (in the business sector, that is).
- jpicune, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Um, can I have my digg back?
- ireland88, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1A gps that gets internet, that would be good enough for most travel needs.
