- Number17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I would guess that it isn't. Remote Buddy is good, but it's not free. The description said all the apps listed here are free.
- nerditup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4you hold play to make your mac go to sleep... not menu...
- andrewcod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sine the site is down and I can't find a mirror, here's the basic list:
1. iRed Lite - your Apple Remote on steroids (Note, I prefer Remote Buddy - although that one isn't free)
2. iTheater - an open source Front Row alternative
3. iAlertU - good luck stealing my MacBook from the inet cafe
4. Aurora - never get out of bed to hit Snooze again
5. Pandora Boy - Pandora + Apple Remote = bliss
6. Using the Apple Remote in Linux - for the dual-booter in all of us
7. Tip: Pair your Apple Remote w/ your Mac - avoid embarrassment during your Keynote presentation (Menu+Right keys)
8. Tip: Put your Mac to sleep w/ the Apple Remote - one less reason to get out of bed (Play/Pause key)
9. Tip: How to listen to Internet Radio in Front Row - until you-know-who kills inet radio entirely
10. Tip: How to play backup DVD’s (Video_TS) in Front Row - should have been included by default - donediggy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm all for not having to get out of bed to hit snooze, Aurora works exactly as described.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3mira might be able to do it, they enable you to use a bunch of different IR receivers to control a mac with the apple remote..
http://twistedmelon.com/ - spacey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm just as annoyed as the rest of you that the page is failing (perhaps more so, it's my damn site) and I've been in touch w/ the hosting company. It should (should...) be back to normal/able to handle the load now. Cheers,
Ross - kevinskok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@TCEuk Hold down Play not menu.
- StayPuft, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3since the site is down I can't see what is on the list. But I figured I would post my favorite software for your remote (remote buddy):
http://www.iospirit.com/index.php?mode=view&obj_type=infogroup&obj_id=24&o_infogroup_objcode=infogroup-23&sid=3560800G90b0ccbcc1b9b364
Hopefully it is on the list. - ExSlashdotter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@mmillian
Not just for laptops. The iMacs and Minis also have remotes. Try a 24" imac in your bedroom, way better than a tv (plus you can control itunes from afar which is great with an airport express). - TCEuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For some reason i can't get Tip 8 to work :s. I hold the menu button down for different lengths of time and it doesn't make any difference. Is there an option somewhere that needs to be checked to allow me to do this? Any help appreciated :)
- chkmate21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Its a really good list. It helped my Apple Remote reach its full potential. Thank you kind noble sir.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i believe i need a new battery for my remote.
>:O - liamneville, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Unfortunately not. Doesn't look like anything will :(
Does Mira support the Universal iPod Dock as a receiver?
We're sorry to say that the iPod dock with built-in IR (released in 2005) does not support being used as a USB IR receiver. As far as we know, this product connects its IR hardware directly to the iPod's dock connection and does not communicate any information back to the computer. - spacey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Karmak1ng,
It's not his/her blog - if you're going to offer stupid comments, at least make sure they're accurate. - liamneville, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anybody know of a hack to use the Universal iPod Dock plugged into a mac as a IR receiver for frontrow etc?
I have a dock and a remote, but no built in IR receiver - willlow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is the best apple remote program period: http://caseapps.com/sofacontrol.html
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just change the "digg" in this pages URL to "duggmirror" and hit "Go ->" - There was a duggmirror link up a bit, but it didn't work and thus was buried
- jamshid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I love the Apple Remote. After dealing with Windows multimedia keyboards that never seem to control the right application (eg, launching another media player instead of pausing the current one I have playing), I've been very impressed that the Apple Remote just works.
Only thing I would really like is a "commercial skip" button. Has anybody figured out a way to do that, maybe with one of these customization utilities, looking for a certain button combination? - hunkpr, on 12/22/2007, -0/+0Contemporary Chinese Wedding Invitation

Flight Attendant Resume -
http://www.flightattendanttrainingonline.com/resum ... - reconbot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3ugg... I'm only commenting because I can't find a http://www.duggmirror.com link
- julienkoetsch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not on the list, but it should be... yes, it costs $10, but it is so worth it. with it's great interface and customizability, it can replace almost every program on that list and do it better.
- sweric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Some other good tips:
If you hold in menu button (on the remote) during bootup you can choose what start disk to boot from. Just like the options button on the apple keyboard.
The apple remote works with VLC. - adondr, on 11/30/2007, -1/+0Cheapest and the best data recovery service in the world.
