- eldridgea, on 07/31/2008, -8/+126Reason why Wi-Fi syncing will never happen: they're trying to sell MobileMe.
- locojones, on 08/01/2008, -8/+125You'll get what Steve Jobs tells you that you need, and you'll like it!
- Trax91, on 07/31/2008, -34/+119Copy and Paste should be at the goddamn top of the list.

- macaddct1984, on 07/31/2008, -11/+71No, it really shouldn't.
I'd much rather have a functioning, more stable iPhone before they start adding new features. (even if it should have been in a while ago) - markusv3000, on 08/01/2008, -0/+51I agree with everything on this list. This phone is great. But it still has alot of problems.
- zephc, on 08/01/2008, -4/+54***** SMS and ***** MMS. Apple smartphone market share needs to force all phones to use something that is NOT a money-milking scheme by design, like, say e-mail or IM. The more SMS/MMS is supported, the longer it will take to die.
That said, I agree with most of the list. - kotatsu, on 08/01/2008, -2/+45I'd like to be able to download new podcasts automatically over 3G or Wi-Fi, instead of having to sync from iTunes.
And an obvious one - turn by turn GPS. - kjcdude, on 08/01/2008, -2/+36It's really annoying that the horizontal keyboard isn't available in every app
- michaelyurechko, on 08/01/2008, -0/+31I want a less crash-prone and lagging iPhone before Apple starts adding more ***** to the device. Keyboard lag really bugs me and I think that should be one of the first things addressed, as well the constant crashing.
- inactive, on 08/01/2008, -3/+33I can understand why no copy & paste. It's an interface versus multi-touch problem. The wrong implementation could really screw things up.
I don't understand why no video recording however. Apple has video recording software in Photo Booth for all the iSight cameras that come embedded with iMacs and Macbooks. So I wonder what the hold up is there. It might be a storage thing, but I doubt it. - harryterry, on 08/01/2008, -10/+36how about some picture messaging love....
- iericg, on 08/01/2008, -1/+26I like the idea of only using 3G for Safari & Maps. I turned off Wifi & Bluetooth and notice a huge difference in battery life.
Here are a few more...
* Side viewing in for the Email App. I know I could zoom in but I would prefer to just tilt phone like it's done in Safari.
* The iTunes Store App. could use more browsing options. Browsing through all the 1000+ Apps is a little time consuming.
* Ability to demo the Apps before purchasing them would be nice.
* The ability to upload images in Safari. - frooch, on 07/31/2008, -0/+25How would they implement that with a software update?
- monkeymad2, on 08/01/2008, -0/+23How's about, you click on the SMS to get more information, time sent / if it's been received ect and forwarding options and stuff...
- LiquidLeopard, on 08/01/2008, -2/+24Landscape SMS....anyone??
- minnymoo, on 08/01/2008, -14/+3312. flash
- magicmarc, on 08/01/2008, -0/+18dude... your iphone is broken...
- andersonwill, on 08/01/2008, -0/+17the proximity sensor is still there my friend
- joshualamgroup, on 08/01/2008, -1/+18Congratulations. you know how to copy+paste from Gizmodo. Too bad you can't do that on an iPhone.
- soupdawg30, on 08/01/2008, -0/+16Better GPS would be nice.
- 9bpm9, on 08/01/2008, -2/+17Now that I have my iPhone, I actually care about these articles now.
- inactive, on 08/01/2008, -7/+22MMS
- eldridgea, on 07/31/2008, -2/+17Settings -> General -> Auto-Lock -> Never
- judicar, on 08/01/2008, -0/+15The proximity sensor only shutsdown input when you are either on a call or in the voicemail screen, its right above the ear piece, if that isn't happening then its broken.
- Keloran, on 08/01/2008, -1/+16whilst your at it with SMS, forwarding would be useful too
- bezshai, on 08/01/2008, -0/+14My iPhone does exactly what you mention. 3G coverage is very spotty in my hometown, and so when 3G has low signal, my phone auto-switches to EDGE.
- creativlogic, on 08/01/2008, -1/+14
I was wondering why on the "best iPod ever" I can't...
Rename a Playlist (I have a full keyboard afterall... it's not a clickwheel iPod...)
Delete a song from a Playlist or the Library (I can delete emails... and videos... why not songs...)
Move a song from a one Playlist to another (I can move emails to another folder with no problem)
or
Why Can't I...
Make a new folder in Mail.
Tell safari to NOT open a new window when I click one of my favorite icons on my Home Screen.
Tell SMS not to show text previews without turning on the password lock.
Change my SMS notification tone to any ringtone I want.
Move my photos around to different albums without my computer.
Create/rename/delete albums for my photos.
Create/rename/delete calendars.
Move events around to different calendars
Still love the phone but just a few things that annoy me... - ziggotron, on 08/01/2008, -0/+12A search function for the iPod/Music app would be great.
- darienphoenix, on 08/01/2008, -0/+11Widescreen email, make the software stable, get rid of annoying lag, and fix the 3G reception issues. Those are the three most important to me.
In terms of apps, I can't believe Apple even tested a few before release. Some didn't even run at release - the least they could do is see if the damn apps will run before approving the developer. It seems like Apple merely looked at the description for half the apps in the store. - drewpost, on 08/01/2008, -0/+11While i partially agree, I have found several times when it would be handy. I live in the the UK and when you dial another number in the UK it begins with a 0 ie 0207..... but if you dial it from another country it starts with a +44. I have found on a lot of websites where the number is listed as +44 0 2027...... when I click on the number it won't dial properly because you are meant to take off the first 0. If I could copy and paste the number in and delete the 0 that would be so much easier that going back and forth between apps and trying to type the number in.
Another time was when I was sent a FedEx tracking number in an email and had to put it into the tracking site and again had to hop back and forth which took a lot longer than it would have with a simple copy and paste.
These are just a couple of examples but I know there are a lot more out there. - ryancalderoni, on 08/01/2008, -0/+11Getting the performance back would be nice, everything is slightly slower in version 2. Obviously none of my friends who just adopted the iPhone 3G as their first iPhone have noticed this but I sure have! I wish I could have downgraded back to the previous version and have the speed back rather than have apps and everything be slower than before.
- Dr3w, on 08/01/2008, -3/+14Multimedia Messages please. I still don't like how my parents can send me pics from their three year old phone, and the iPhone tells me to log on to a goddamn website to view it...
- Galaxylander, on 08/01/2008, -0/+11Uh... it's... still there...
I think yours is broken or something... - Keloran, on 08/01/2008, -0/+11yeah mine auto-switches to
it goes 3G [3G]
3G to weak switch to Edge [E]
Edge to weak switch to GPRS [@]
GPRS to weak, use cell-data []
bah im in a tunnel no data allowed - Galaxylander, on 08/01/2008, -1/+11Uh... everything? It's basically doing the same thing [minus the schnazzy interface] when you have a WiFi signal..
- CrushThemTorg, on 08/01/2008, -0/+10Wireless podcast update would probably be the greatest thing ever. I'd wind up launching iTunes once every six months if that happened.
- cbergstrom, on 08/01/2008, -2/+12Besides the things mentioned, I would love for an EDGE failover for the 3G option. At home, 3G doesn't work well nor does it work at the office, so I always have to have 3G disabled. I'd love an option for "If 3G has low signal strength, try Edge" rather than having to manually swap whenever I'm not at home or work and want faster internet speeds.
- kyrios23, on 08/01/2008, -1/+11H.264
- rkettner, on 08/01/2008, -1/+10Here is my suggestion for how they do it...
When using the magnifying glass to select your spot in the text... placing a second finger (or thumb) on the screen should allow you to select text (like click+hold with mouse on computer). Then, when you release both, a context menu pops up with all available options (cut, copy, paste, look-up, etc). Does anybody know of any potential drawbacks regarding this? - lordtyros, on 07/31/2008, -1/+10Dark Magicks
- DocHoliday22, on 08/01/2008, -4/+13Number one on that list should be: Apple listen to your customers!
We've had so many lists but they rarely ever get any real implementation.... - vitriolage, on 08/01/2008, -0/+8Just hold your finger on the photo and you have the option to save it.
- Niz1, on 08/01/2008, -0/+8your Nokia does hold down the hash key.
- VulcanXP, on 08/01/2008, -3/+10I want my ***** dvorak layout! It's complete nonsense that variable language keyboards is a main selling feature of the iPhone, but they still haven't spent the 30 minutes it would take to add alternate keyboard layouts!
- joshualamgroup, on 08/01/2008, -0/+7Because of the full web browser - you can visit your favourite website and it will appear like your computer. SO why not Copy+paste, like you can on your computer as well?
- dheaddy, on 08/01/2008, -0/+7On my old Nokia 6600 and current n95, you hold down the little pencil button (used for changing languages in texting) and use left and right to highlight the word. The right and left soft keys then act as copy and paste.
I use it once in a blue moon but it's still there. - bassfanatik, on 08/01/2008, -2/+9How about MMS? Am I the only one who hates going to that crappy website to look at an MMS message?
