THESE COLORS DO RUN

Take a quick glance at the girl in the upper right of this photo — her shirt is green, right? Well, no:

 

By overlaying colored grids on the black-and-white image, our brains are tricked into seeing color where there's only shades of gray. Here's the "green" shirt, up close:

 

Here's another illustration of the effect:

 

The effect is more convincing for some colors and less-so for others (reds, skin tones). It appears to be a similar effect to the Munker illusion, where circles take on a different color depending on the stripes that overlay them:
