It's only the first night of the Republican National Convention, and we might already have the weirdest story of the week: did Donald Trump's wife Melania plagiarize a portion of her headlining speech from Michelle Obama's 2008 speech? 

TV/radio host (and interior designer) Jarrett Hill was the first to notice the similarities:

And the LA Times cut together video of the relevant portions from Obama and Trump's speeches:

 

In this sort of situation, we'd usually say that the speech writer was in big trouble, but according to Melania Trump that speechwriter was… Melania Trump:

 

The Trump campaign denied the plagiarism accusations and blamed… Hillary Clinton. Meanwhile the RNC's chief strategist claimed that Melania's speech might have been inspired by none other than "My Little Pony":
