What If Air Traffic Meant, Like, Actual Traffic Jams In The Sky?
PHALANGE TO PHALANGE TRAFFIC

If the term "air traffic" referred to actual traffic jams in the sky, the air travel industry would be in a lot of trouble. On the plus side, however, architectural photographer Mike Kelley would likely have a much easier time creating his series of "Airportraits."

To make each image โ€” which are all complex composites of many photos โ€” Kelley hunkers down at an airport and takes a ton of pictures, which he then carefully layers on top of one another using Photoshop, often until the wee hours of the night. You can read more about his process and inspiration over at Mashable.

Kelley is still an architecture photographer by trade, and has an amazing portfolio that proves it. Here's a breathtaking shot from his series on the architecture of Iceland.

Here's another from Kelley's "Architecture Of Iceland" series. (Which might look familiar if you remember this Digg classic from earlier this year.)
