'BUTT CRACK, WITH A HINT OF DEAD ANIMAL'

Back in the mid-2000s, auto engineers Andrew Masters and Allen Wittman released Liquid Ass — "butt crack, with a hint of dead animal" — as the be-all and end-all of olfactory gags (literally, gags). 

The smell had had been around for a while — Wittman had whipped up the original concotion as a high school prankster. And once Wittman and Masters had released it, it took on a life of its own — including as a tool to train paramedics dealing with disembowelment. On this week's episode of The Leap, the strange story of Liquid Ass:
