A BRACING SPLASH OF CHARITY

โ€‹It's unlikely that Pete Frates could have predicted how massively the ice bucket challenge would take off when he posted this video. But in the two weeks and change since, celebrities of every sort โ€” from tech industry moguls to pro wrestlers โ€” have taken to dumping freezing cold water on their heads for a good cause. Here are our favorites so far:

Chris Pratt attempted to get drunk first:

Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein challenged the entire city of Portland (which may be against the rules):

Chris Evans 1-uped just about everyone:

Emily Blunt and Jeremy Clarkson both got pranked into it:

The Cast of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" got wet, but Andy Samberg got the worst of it:

Tom Hiddleston took it like a champ:

James McAvoy nominated some Scottish politicians:

Anne Hathaway threw in a little Italian:

Robert Downey Jr. was relaxing in a pool:

Emma Stone made a few puns:

50 Cent was feeling charitable:

"Weird" Al challenged the pope, because why not:

It ain't easy being green, or freezing cold:

Charlie Sheen's strangeness is only bested by his contribution:

Lindsay Lohan went on The Tonight Show to get dowsed:

Russell Crowe may have been drunk:

We suspect Kate Mara regretted it immediately:

We're not sure what's happening in George Takei's video:

Nathan Fillion tried to hold it together:

Robert Pattinson is just getting pelted with stuff:

Verne Troyer found a clever workaround during California's drought:

Jack Black's son piles on (for a good cause):

Amy Schumer made it gross:

Vin Diesel made it look easy:

Mark Zuckerberg stayed casual:

And Bill Gates kept it classy:

His wife Melinda even got involved:

Naturally, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Tim Cook, Sergey Brin and Larry Page had to join in on the fun:

As did Disney CEO Bob Iger:

Athletes got wet for ALS too, like Christiano Ronaldo:

Dikembe Mutombo's reaction is priceless:

Hockey player Paul Bissonnette got glacier water dumped on him from a helicopter. Now that's dedication:

The New York Giants. A few of them anyway:

Someone get Usain Bolt a blanket:

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy did it together:

Quite a few current and former wrestlers did the challenge, like The Rock, CM Punk, Triple H and Dave Batista:

Even WWE CEO Vince McMahon did it. In a suit, no less:

And of course, musicians, politicians and everyone in between got caught up in the trend, like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie:

And Toronto Mayor/human meme Rob Ford:

Even though it was "unpresidential", George W. Bush did it too

Justin Timberlake, Macklemore, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Eddie Vedder, Drake, Taylor Swift, Niall Horan of One Direction, The Foo Fighters and Les Claypool all got soaked:

g

And finally a number of TV personalities partook, like Conan:

Martha Stewart, who might have forgotten to add water:

The cast of The Tonight Show, and Rob Riggle:

The Today Show's Matt Lauer managed not to ruin his lavaliere mic:

Ryan Seacrest's new bucket-on-hat look is working for him:

For sheer loudness, no one can top Oprah's ice bucket challenge video:

Jimmy Kimmel bravely stuffed his clothes with ice, and then asked to be taken to a hospital

The king of creepy himself, Stephen King, got drenched too, and challenged John Grisham!

You don't need to be a celebrity to donate to a good cause. If you're feeling charitable and don't want to wear cold, wet clothes all day, you can give money to fight ALS here
