GREAT JOB

Weird YouTube is by no means a new phenomenon, but what keeps many of the most creative channels relatively unknown is that they're either so strange as to cause discomfort in most viewers — like How To Basic (probably the most famous of the bunch), CompansArchives and Alan Tutorial — or they're so adept at lampooning a specific genre — Henry's Kitchen, Miranda Sings, or How To Draw (With Detail) for example — that it's not immediately obvious to most viewers that they're parodies. (FYI, all of the above channels are worth your time, though your mileage may vary and some are NSFW.)

But once in a while something like Cut Dat Commentary comes along with a concept both bizarre and simple. After a few seconds any layman will realize by subscribing they'll be subjected twice weekly to a whispery narrator commentate on a man trying to cut various foods with a spoon, and yet it's grounded close enough to reality that you could probably send this to your mom. That's all there is, and the gag works.

Below are a few of our favorite selections.
