- tcbishop12, on 07/12/2008, -5/+12Title and description are a bit misleading. You mean "IF BARACK Obama doesn't win November's presidential election in the United States, "you can kiss the Democratic Party goodbye", the actor and director Robert Redford told an audience in Dublin last night."
I would agree with Mr. Redford. If, with all the enthusiasm, new voter registration, desire for change, and a once-in-our-lifetimes quality of candidate such as Barack Obama is, the Democratic party cannot capture the White House from a tired old party that has alienated 2/3rds of the American populace and a decrepit, senile, self-contradicting, operating without a moral compass GOP nominee like McCain whose only claim to the nomination was that he was the least offensive of the field and the last man standing -- then Lord Almighty, God help us all.- drachemorder, on 07/12/2008, -1/+6You lost me at the words "quality of candidate".
- Nannybell, on 07/13/2008, -1/+4Yes, please, tell us about his *quality.* What exactly is it? How does it manifest itself?
- avengingturnip, on 07/13/2008, -1/+3So what you are saying is that if Barack wins we don't have to pray, "Lord Almighty, God help us all". I don't believe you.
- Sweetzie1, on 07/12/2008, -3/+7Amen.
- KJeffV, on 07/12/2008, -5/+13Inasmuch as Rob't Redford—who is a terrific actor—has little-to-no pol acumen & a history of being politically wrong on almost everything, it's a shame that, f/once, he isn't correct. No such "luck."
- Erythroxylum, on 07/12/2008, -3/+12I'm sure the Irish are beyond themselves with grief.
- Navigator7, on 07/12/2008, -5/+13Redford said: "I think we need new voices, new blood. We need to get a whole group out, get a new group in."
Obama's foreign policy should be equal to Redford's desires.
Beheadings and Sharia law. - richdoll, on 07/12/2008, -8/+1all be it that whole world can see something about the united states that refuse to see
the rose colored glasses need to off .. we need a change so bad and not john mccain who will take us into a third world war and we will suffer even greater if he's elected. the world would not be the same. because you can kiss your all rights goodbye under him. - these3remain, on 07/12/2008, -2/+6Another example of why celebs ought to stick with what they do best - acting and/or reading someone else's crafted script; the same is true of "rock-stars" - shut-up and sing/act. Every time one of them opens their mouths regarding political opinion, it is enough to make ya wanna hurl at the depth of ignorance displayed. Robert Redford remains just as ignorant as most Obamination supporters. I'm sure his heart is bleeding at the prospect of drilling in Alaska. We need to drill our own oil and simultaneously develop energy alternatives, no question about it. But what most bleeding heart environmentalists fail to grasp about our dependence upon foreign oil is it is not just a matter of changing our automobile habits. There is not a single part of our military that can run on "alternative energy sources" which is why developing our own oil resources is important - that is how the whole oil thing relates to national security. I suspect that Obamination supporters think that every crisis can be averted through negotiations and sanctions. But that is not the case in a world where countries have become increasingly industrialized with fewer resources to spread among more nations. Since man is inherently selfish, negotiations and sanctions will ultimately always fail - and the one who "wins" or retains power are those who can leverage their military/industrial complex - not those who excel in verbiage and diplomacy unless backed up by the latter.
- Nannybell, on 07/13/2008, -2/+3Wow, all the more reason to make sure McCain is elected !! Everyone, vote McCain !!! If he wins, the Democrat Party is done for. Yippeee !!! Who knew it would be so easy???
