Why Do American Taxpayers Subsidize South Korea's Defense?
lewrockwell.com — John McCain, when discussing our presence in Iraq, has been known to point to our continued presence Japan or Korea as "evidence" that "no one questions those military presences". Well Johnny, I for one (among many), do not want to continue to police the world, occupy nations and pay out of pocket for others defense. This article says more.

Bring the brave servicemen and servicewomen home and lets rebuild the U.S.A into what it should be, a wonderfully diverse nation that should be the chief peacemaker not warmaker in the world that all other countries want to emulate! - Fangsinmybeard, on 07/24/2008, -1/+5Second the previous comment.

Americans do not have to pay taxes. Only U.S. Citizens do. And even then it is only if you are conducting 'business and trade" WITHIN the U.S., ( not the geographic outline of the united states of America), the jurisdiction of the corporation of the United States, (district of columbia and the u.s. territories, this also DOES NOT include the Republics of the usA.
Why Americans pay taxes is because they dont know that it is voluntary.

- rocket777, on 07/24/2008, -2/+1Now wait just a minute. If you were a serviceman in Seoul I think you'd much rather buy the e-tee-wan juicy girls their drinks than go fight in some useless war where you might even get hurt. At least the girls appreciate us being there. Or so it seemed to me.
I was sent there to protect our interests in the 90's with all expenses paid, plus a very nice per-diem of over $100 per day (and that was when a dollar was still worth something and 25 of them got you a "short time" with a lady or 20 drinks for the girls).
John McCain is right, we should stay there for another 100 years. You wouldn't want to put all the bars out of business. And did you know, that in S. Korea, all the bartenders are young women. No problem with glass ceilings over there!
Yes indeedy. We are there to protect our interests. And mine were tweaked each and every night until my per diem ran out.
