When Rove Calls Obama Arrogant, He Means Uppity
huffingtonpost.com — We've heard that; we've heard the pejorative "arrogant" before. When I say "we" I mean those of us who are "others" in America; people of color. Minorities. Women. We hear the word all the time from a select section of privileged white guys.

- kroses, on 06/27/2008, -15/+7You are absolutely right about this, Mr. Ridley!!! But, we will call Mr. Rove a big fat jerk, and then some, and we will win this election, and that is what Rove is scared to death about!!! What will he do then, with no power base, for the first time in years? I can hardly wait!!! He may even have to go to jail!!!!!!!
- BW2006, on 06/27/2008, -14/+4Or what Kroses said. Yep. Rove is ***** himself.
- dejtemper, on 06/28/2008, -14/+6When I first read what Rove said about Sen. Obama and "leaning against a wall at a country club", I thought he was talking about himself. You know, the guy you don't have to meet to know, leaning against the wall and making comments about all who walk by. Wow. Anyway great article, and we need more people to speak the truth like you do. Thanks
- Stevanoski, on 06/28/2008, -8/+14Never underestimate the influence of a wife who bitch-slaps her husband in public. Early in Obama's campaign, Michelle Obama could not restrain herself from belittling the senator. "I have some difficulty reconciling the two images I have of Barack Obama. There's Barack Obama the phenomenon. Pretty amazing, right? And then there's the Barack Obama that lives with me in my house, and that guy's a little less impressive," she told a fundraiser in February 2007.
"For some reason this guy still can't manage to put the butter up when he makes toast, secure the bread so that it doesn't get stale, and his five-year-old is still better at making the bed than he is." Her handlers have convinced her to be more tactful since then.- alapoet, on 06/28/2008, -1/+2Bitch slapping her husband in public? LOL!
It's called "married banter," Stevanoski... It's the playful give-and-take that couples who love each other engage in all the time.
Imagine that! A relationship based not on *****-blocking power plays, not on some outdated, quaint notion of machismo and control, but on mutual trust and understanding and gentle digs at each other! What will those damn LIBERALS think of next, eh?
You really should relax and check it out sometime.- Stevanoski, on 06/28/2008, -1/+4did not dig you down as your argument is substantive and tone moderate. Have you seen the interviews on the morning MSM shows? She slaps him down frequently, you can actually see the anger on his face occasionally.
But you are right, the butter, calling him smelly, those things are banter.

- Castlekeep, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Oh puh-leeze! Stevanoski - get a grip - oh wait - you probably do that every day which is why you don't recognize Michelle's comment for what it was - playful. It's non-thinking like yours that plays into this BS.

- Zacktopia, on 06/28/2008, -11/+8When so-and-so says such-and-such, the words really mean something completely different - not what was actually said. In a nutshell, there you have the make believe world of the type who inhabit the Obama campaign. We have seen and heard them in other spheres.
A religious culture openly declares its intention to conquer and exterminate all other cultures, all of which it sees as hostile rivals, then makes good on its declarations with numerous murderous attacks. Then the aforementioned master reinterpreters shout "false flag!"
The Obamites are at war with reality. To deliver our government into their hands would be suicide. - tunafizzle, on 06/28/2008, -7/+4At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollup, you *****.
- Castlekeep, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Just so folks know - this was said - in public - to Cindy McCain by her ever-lovin' hubby John "forked tongue" McBushMcFakeMcSameMcLiar
- yellowsnowcone, on 06/28/2008, -8/+4It seems to me that Obama and his supporters are just itching to make race a part of this campaign. They are hoping to play the victim so they can say "Hey! Look at what these bad people are saying about me. They're racist!!"
- Stevanoski, on 06/28/2008, -3/+3Good point, they have their game plan ready if there is ever one instance where an innocent word or phrase can be turned. They saw how Jim Webb won Virginia and learned.
- thal3s, on 06/28/2008, -3/+3Damn right!
With Obama ahead by 16 points in the national polls, that's the perfect time to start playing the victim!
Duuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Hint: He got so far ahead by being a leader and taking strong positions (FISA, Oil, Healthcare).- Stevanoski, on 06/28/2008, -2/+3For three days in a row the Time poll has shown them tied, dur. Yes, his position on FISA agrees with McCain's et.al.
- Stevanoski, on 06/28/2008, -4/+2Glad HuffPo can read minds. How good are the editors at picking out lottery numbers? Only the Left on digg uses the word uppity. Freudian?
