Top Pro-Abortion Group NARAL Backs Barack Obama
lifenews.com — Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- One of the leading pro-abortion groups issued its endorsement on Wednesday for Barack Obama, apparently believing he will represent the Democratic Party against John McCain. NARAL has supported Hillary Clinton throughout her career but Obama appears more likely to win the nomination.

- SheilaNoya, on 05/14/2008, -6/+8Buried for confusing Pro-Choice with Pro-Abortion.
- sertelt, on 05/14/2008, -2/+6When Obama opposes a ban on even the partial-birth abortion procedure, when he repeatedly votes to force taxpayers to fund abortions, when he stops a bill taking care of babies who survive botched abortions, and when he opposes parental involvement on abortions for 13 year-olds, then, YES, Obama is PRO-abortion. When he actually bothers to do something tangible to oppose abortions you can call him whatever you want.
- flip2trip, on 05/15/2008, -3/+3Buried for thinking Pro-Choice isn't Pro-Abortion--do abortion clinics try to counsel people into NOT having abortions--do they do everything in their power to stop the abortion from happening? No, of course not, there's no money in it.
- rightwingattila, on 05/14/2008, -4/+8Pro-Choice (Pro-DEATH) IS pro-abortion.
- prolifemama, on 05/14/2008, -4/+6There is no difference between pro-choice and pro-abortion. Camille Paglia, a staunch advocate of abortion, states that the word 'pro-choice' is a cowardly euphemism. That's because the word choice really means abortion.
What American could ever object to a person having the freedom to choose, unless that choice involves harming another human being? Ah, but abortion DOES harm another human being, actually two, because women are irreparably damaged when they allow their children to be killed inside them.
Donning the reasonable-sounding label of pro-choice doesn't change what you support - killing unborn human beings inside their mothers' wombs, for any reason, at any time during pregnancy, with little or no legal restrictions, including parental and informed consent.
Most people who claim this label are hands-off regarding the reason for any abortion, unwilling to draw a distinction between an abortion done on a fetus who is less than perfect, and the unborn child of a career college woman who just doesn't want to be a mom right now.
So let's review. If you're in favor of abortions happening, remaining legal, being permitted for any reason, then you are for abortion; hence, you are pro-abortion. Therefore, pro-choice people are in favor of abortion remaining legal, and continuing to be committed.
No getting around it, folks. If this is your stance, then you are pro-abortion. Why object to the moniker? It's as clear as they come, leaving no one in any doubt as to what you support.
Except perhaps - uncomfortably - yourselves. - xenex11, on 05/14/2008, -5/+5WRONG! The fact is that the anti-abortion crowd wants to eliminate the CHOICE to have an abortion, whereas the pro-choice crowd wants to maintain the ability of people to choose. SheilaNoya is correct. Pro-abortion would mean they are in favor of every pregnant woman having an abortion.
- rightwingattila, on 05/14/2008, -3/+3And the CHOICE of the unborn child? CHOICE is just another word for MURDER!
- prolifemama, on 05/15/2008, -2/+3If every pregnant woman in every country in the world wanted to abort her child, pro-aborts, including SheilaNoya, would stand by and let it happen.
Pro-lifers know that abortion isn't the only, and certainly not the best, option for any pregnant woman, regardless of her circumstances, and that includes the rare pregnancy-threatened maternal life. An abortion takes at the minimum 15 minutes; an emergency c-section - 7.
Pro-lifers recognize the rights of both mother and child. A pregnant woman has a right to have her circumstances looked at and a life-affirming solution offered her, not just the death of her unborn son or daughter. If a woman feels that allowing an abortionist to kill her baby is her only solution, then we as her fellow human beings, have failed her and her child. Abortion hurts women. We deserve better. - prolifemama, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3Far from taking away choice from women in crisis pregnancies, in the U.S., prolifers have been offering real choices to women in crisis pregnancies since the 1960s. Proaborts only sanction one choice - abortion. How can they support any other - no money in it.
Prolifers want both mother and baby to remain intact, while the problem that gave the pregnancy crisis status is addressed directly and practical solutions found. After all, a woman who's been raped has still been raped, even after her baby's been killed. A single mother with three other children struggling with her job and bills still has those same bills after the abortion's completed and her baby's body is shoved down a disposal. The abortion doesn't solve anything, doesn't help her with her real problems, and dumps a whole set of new problems on her, that she'll have to live with the rest of her life.
- Christianptriot, on 05/14/2008, -3/+4In the overwhelming majority of cases, abortion is simply one irresponsible ting a woman does to her body to cover up another irresponsible thing she has done - by getting pregnant in the first place. There are SO many effective forms of birth control on the market that abortion should be reserved for those rare cases when the life of the mother is truly jeopardized by carrying a pregnancy to term.
- rooforlife, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1According to the Guttmacher Institute 54% of abortions the women were on contraceptives the month they got pregnant.
Each State report on abortion says this on the first page:
"The very small group of American women who are at risk of
experiencing an unintended pregnancy but are not using contraceptivesaccount for almost half of all abortions—46% in 2000. Many of these women did not think they would get pregnant or had concerns about contraceptive methods. The remainder of abortions occur among the much larger group of women who were using contraceptives in the month they became pregnant. Many of these women report difficulty
using contraceptives consistently."

What I find total disgusting is how much taxpayers pay for abortion!!!!! Just found this report since I have been trying to find out how much we pay for abortions.
This report says we paid:
"The state and federal governments spent $89 million
to fund 177,000 abortion procedures for low-income
women in FY 2006. The federal government contributed
to the cost of only 191 procedures. Virtually all
publicly funded abortion procedures occurred in the 17
states that have nonrestrictive abortion policies."page6,
Table 3.9. Reported public expenditures for abortions (in 000s of dollars) & # of publicly funded abortions, by funding source, according to state and state funding policy, FY 2006) page 27, http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/2008/01/28/or38.pdf
I cant even imagine what we pay now. If someone wants an abortion THEY should pay for it. We shouldnt have to pay for the murder of the preborn. None of the reasons people list is our responsiblity.

- flip2trip, on 05/15/2008, -1/+6All the so-called pro-choicers should be made to watch at least 10 abortions with the advanced sonogram camera running--then I want them to tell me how they can justify this atrocity.
- rightwingattila, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2This atrocity? Or do you mean MURDER???
- prolifemama, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2They can first view Silent Scream (and spare us please, all the false claims of its having been 'doctored', if that weren't so ironic ...) which is an ultrasound film of a suction abortion, then Eclipse of Reason, a fiberoptic camera color video of a 4-month old baby boy in utero being aborted.
Alas, with some hardcore proaborts, I fear that even seeing an abortion in person wouldn't convince them. For example, Ellen Goodman watched Eclipse of Reason, and said "Once again, the wrong victim takes center stage, while the woman lies on the table and mercifully, bleeds." - rightwingattila, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1Anyone who wants to MURDER an unborn child is sickening to me. What the HELL is wrong with you? Please, I want an answer...
- laotzuistruth, on 05/15/2008, -2/+0Everyone that is so anti-choice should adopt some children. IF you want people to have them, why don't you step up and take em.
- prolifemama, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1We do, dear. Are you willing as well?
