Tomorrow there is going to be a protest at a funeral.
intolerantfaith.blogspot.com — In that simple offensive sentence, many of you will probably know who is to blame, as always, Fred Phelps. This time he has chosen to interfere in the presidential election by disrupting the funeral of the mother-in-law of VP Candidate Joe Biden. She never participated in politics, or even shared the same blood as Joe. Help Stop These Evil People.

- jperson, on 10/07/2008, -0/+32Unbelievable. Fred Phelps is human waste.
- wherearemymeds, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4that's ranking him too high.
- bonitatortuga, on 10/07/2008, -1/+27yeah, that piece of ***** was going to protest my brother-in-law's funeral when he died on active duty, but the response to it was so overwhelming that they never showed up...i'm all for free speech, but the limit comes when you interfere with another's...
- paintgrl, on 10/07/2008, -0/+22I think my skin just crawled. What makes people so full of hate. I can not imagine being that angry to the point of insanity. Shame on them. I hope people go to block them.
- chaosium, on 10/07/2008, -1/+3Hate is control and attention, negative or not.
- jrndigg, on 10/07/2008, -0/+17Wow...how low will they go :(
- AmeriPatriot, on 10/07/2008, -0/+20They can try, but it'll only show how NUTS the extremist evangelical base is and who they staunchly support, in this case McCain.
The independents are smart enough to see that.
It's sad that the funeral may possibly have these nutballs stirring garbage, but again, they're just a bunch crazies. - chaosium, on 10/07/2008, -2/+11Just ignore them. Press coverage gives them power/money.
- col381, on 10/07/2008, -0/+8No - we can't ignore them because that is exactly what has been happending in America for the last two hundred years, preachers have been able to say anything they want on the basis that they are 'men of god'.
It is our duty to stand up to these phycopaths, to call them out that their behaviour is unacceptable and that being a 'man of god' should not give you the right to impose your corrupted insane morals on everyone else. What I ask is - where are the protests against Fred Phelps???- wherearemymeds, on 10/07/2008, -1/+5I agree that scum like this cannot be ignored. It needs to be exposed and judged for what it is, and then shut down.
- honeybrass, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2What? just ignore the sensationalist press? Would be easy if they didn't pervade our existence.
- col381, on 10/07/2008, -0/+8No - we can't ignore them because that is exactly what has been happending in America for the last two hundred years, preachers have been able to say anything they want on the basis that they are 'men of god'.
- JenniferInMO, on 10/07/2008, -0/+13I can understand how this man's severe mental illness is controlling his words and behavior, but I just don't get how anyone could find anything he says justifiable, much less actually agree, or ACT on it. What is wrong with people? When have so many people become so furious? It serves no purpose but to divide.
- LaceKing, on 10/07/2008, -0/+10SICK
- pimphofoo, on 10/07/2008, -1/+11The interesting thing is how simplistic and superstitious these beliefs come across as when people like this believe in them. I mean there are religious scholars and devout people with high education but there also a lot of people that just seem to miss the point of their religion entirely.
- MediaWeasel, on 10/07/2008, -0/+6Sick. Just sick.
- wherearemymeds, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4what a foul piece of hate filled garbage.
- Gabberwok, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2God Hates Fred Phelps.
- insomniac8400, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2What are people like this going to do when Obama wins?
- chaseonfire, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Hopefully when Obama gets elected these assholes will start to have to pay taxes and there title of "religion" stripped from them. This group is hateful, irrational and does truly disgusting things in the name of god...
- brainboy77, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1***** 'em all up
- fakekevinrose, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1I'm suprised no one has shot them yet.
- sk11, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1They are no different from the most ***** up of islamic extremist clerics in the middle east. They say the same things, they act like complete *****, in a bid to spread hate and fear. It's like they're engaged in some depraved competition to find the worlds most vile person. I thereby nominate Fred Phelps for the worlds biggest ***** award, congratulations Fred.
- mediatedthought, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1He hasn't won just yet, lets see who else is nominated, and make sure the judges don't fix the voting machines.
- honeybrass, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Firefox spontaneously crashed while I was viewing this article (usually doesn't do that). I think I was sent a message.
- JoeParanoid, on 10/08/2008, -1/+1I am totally opposed to bringing any poltician's private life into the public sphere. It's no wonder we can't get better candidates. Who'd want to subject their family to this?
