The US Government Fighting President Ron Paul Popularity
supcake.com — Ron Paul is definitely emerging as the top republican candidate, the momentum is still clearly behind him. Rocketing to the top of TV news discussion in the past week after months atop the internet discussion, Ron Paul is a serious candidate with a real shot at winning. So, what will stop this juggernaut?

However, he misses a very important point. One I think he should seriously consider.
IF Paul gains the White House it would mean that the People are on to the crap big government has been doing to us. It would mean millions of people have awoken to the loss of their liberty and are looking for the return of their freedoms.
With the millions of voters who put Paul in the White House either side of the aisle would be hard pressed to buck the will of the People without serious repercussions from back home.
Paul would get his way much more than you seem to realize.- GawtMilk, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3I don't think there are millions of Paul supporters. Are there? Proof please...
- ButterBuddha, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5You're one dumb *****
- carpespasm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5man's got over 23,000 supporters on facebook, 50,000 on myspace, and 27,000 on youtube. how many more people support him that wouldn't bother to take the time to add him on their social news/networking site, or just don't have an account to add him to?
- ryanisnotsuper, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Not many.
- GawtMilk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm sure many of those people are registered on all three. Plus, even if you count that each supporter is unique, that's 100,000. I doubt that only one in ten of his supporters registered.
- GawtMilk, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3I don't think there are millions of Paul supporters. Are there? Proof please...
- brad3378, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Time for an informal survey.
What do you think would happen when the first TV network breaks the Ron Paul silence?
Will they win the loyalty of Ron Paul followers?
Which TV network do you think will be the first to become "Ron Paul friendly"?- Pssdoff, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I'll put my money on MSNBC. Tucker voted for RP in '88.
- garryw, on 10/10/2007, -7/+21. nothing
2. for sure
3. Al Jazeera - brettrix, on 10/10/2007, -5/+01. My Aunt will believe me that Ron Paul will be the next president
2. for sure
3. Al Jazeera
- TheNeptune, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4MSNBC will be the first Ron Paul breaker, no one will care until CNN - and it'll be fodder for Fox's "anti-liberal media" coverage.
- carpespasm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1which is odd, since by definition paul is as as conservative as they get. and a republican to boot.
- garryw, on 10/10/2007, -11/+4He has no support so he is stuck in 3rd tier.
http://www.thecelebritycafe.com/features/11632.html
Nice bluff though.- Xuvious, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3You really like people who are easily paid off don't you? Are you a lobbyist?
- stealthc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2@garryw:
So the wealthiest guy in the race says winning is all about having money. Should I be surprised?
Screw Romney and his polygamy cult. America doesn't need more neocon trash like him. - brettrix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2HAHAHHA it will be awesome when Ron Paul shows up with $20 million October 16th!!! I am going to have an FEC filing party. I just spent 4 hours making about 180 4x6 foot RON PAUL signs - going to a Gun show tomorrow, a right to life convention sunday and chalking ASU monday morning... this is a FUN REVOLUTION - noone gets shot!!!
- HowieHardcore, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13I disagree with this author and I've thought about this very thing: conservative, change seeking President with a liberal big government Congress. You have to take to heart the statement Ron Paul makes when he says that he doesn't want to run your life when he becomes President and that he wants to restore the Office of the President to its Constitutional place. That place is very narrowly defined in the Constitution. The other guys at the debate are running for CEO of America and Commander in Chief of all citizens. Ron Paul realizes that the role of President doesn't include the majority of things that it has become under our dictatorial presidents. So it doesn't matter that there is a liberal Congress. The first thing he does is call the troops home, which he is Constitutionally empowered to do. then President Paul submits a Federal budget to Congress which will be drastically lower than previous administrations and it Will include big cuts in government programs like the NEA, CIA, IRS, etc. He then sits back and gets out his veto pen and says "no" to the unConstitutional and pork-barrel spending bills Congress will undoubtedly send his way. Further he instructs his Attorney General not to enforce the unlawful points in the PATRIOT Act and in the meantime he encourages Congress, through use of the bully-pulpit to reform Social Security and he informs the American people that it's time to repeal the 16th Amendment, which has come to mean something it wasn't intended to. If Congress fails to pass a repeal then he takes his case directly to the American people and we do a Article V on their asses. Not too difficult. The most difficult thing will probably be getting rid of the Federal Reserve and fiat money. Andrew Jackson had a hell of time when he did but he did succeed. And after eight of the Paul doctrine the U.S. will be a much better place, a place where we'll actually have hope that we can be debt free, rejoice in our inalienable liberties and not be sucked dry by a tyrannical money hungry federal government. Oh yeah and the world will be a better place too because we won't be meddling in their affairs. They actually like us again and maybe come and visit and spend some money here. What a thought!
- doctorweird, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1What a Pipe Dream - To bad it's not going to happen.
- Bartboy919, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2I hope Ron Paul becomes president. This YTMND pretty much sums up how I feel about Ron Paul. http://ronpoll.ytmnd.com/
- Elderon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I know it's a bit early to really decide on things like who to pick for VP and I'm not sure what this guy is doing now since this link is a little old, but DAMN! Ron Paul + Clark would be freaking unbelievable.... Wonder what he is doing now?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XN2ttwSju0&mode=related&search=
fyi he is a ret general. his official title was supreme commander of nato
I notice something interesting though watching military people and that is generals do not like war. They seem to really care for their troops unlike most politicians these days who only want to throw our soldiers into the meat grinder.
ps: id like to see Hannity pull his ***** with this guy. He'd probably have hannity crying like a girl- TheNeptune, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Clark was popular in the south too. He was the only democrat besides Kerry to win a state primary. Well - his state was Oklahoma, so it's not saying much - except he'd be easy for the south to get behind.
- mediablitz, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0There is a vested interest for much of the media to promote Ron Paul. The left leaning media will see promoting Paul as a chance to create a third candidate. If Paul can pull even 3% of the vote away from the Republican base, this puts the Democratic nominee in the White House.
If the MSM catches on to this fact, and can find a way to promote Paul enough to get him running as a third party candidate, they will push him out into the public eye.- VIrus9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Dr. Paul has run as a third party candidate before and he's well aware that if he does so again, he has absolutely no shot of winning the White House. If he doesn't take the GOP nomination, I predict that he will return to Texas to retake his seat in the House of Representatives.
- ryanisnotsuper, on 10/10/2007, -9/+2Emerging as the top republican candidate? Wow, you guys are delusional.
- brettrix, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9My name is Brett. You can easily find me at any of the Phoenix or East Valler RON PAUL meetups in Arizona.
We just made 180 RON PAUL signs on vinyl (billboard material) they range from 2X4 feet big to 5 X 8 foot signs - they will be plastered all over AZ/PHX tomorrow and the next day and the next day and the next day.
We are smart - we put them up where the traffic jams are, where the malls are, where the people are.... you know the people from the 'WE THE PEOPLE' sect... Is that illegal..
Do you part- make sure you are registered correctly so you can vote in the primary.
it's our revolution.. and we dont need any guns for this one. Help us save America now!!!! I can vouch for about 25 people at tonights meetup... someone from the "national campaign" was even at the meetup... he was helping build signs. pretty cool if you ask me.
ebay and ron paul??? you saw it here first! check the ronpaul2008 website next week to find out more.
I think Romney wanted $20 million to be a top tier candidate... what if Ron Paul raises $20 million... will Romney make it $40 million? I will have to find more friends who will contribute, that's all.
At tonights meetup, we all chipped in $70 to buy the paint.. it was the easiest $70 raised. Not even at a bachelor party have i seen people throwing $5s and $10s into the pot more willingly... it was awesome
THIS IS AWESOME- it5five, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Hey, I live in Phoenix too.
I'll be sure to call in all of your illegally posted signs and have them taken down, especially since they are posted in dangerous places where people shouldn't take their attention off the road. Thanks for the heads up.- carpespasm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2gee, what about all the billboard that are several orders of magnitude and lit up at night that are meant for nothing but taking your attention off the road?
- Corrosionx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Billboards are more subliminal than liminal. People don't need to stop and read them, the image is burned in their subconscious.
- Juroujin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1so its you guys that have been putting up the RP signs i've seen around ASU
- it5five, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Hey, I live in Phoenix too.
- onetimer, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3Don't top candidates score better than 2-3% in scientific polls? You know, the ones that have been very accurate in the last 50 years?
- fezzen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Not at this stage in the race. In fact the opposite has very often been true.
The fact that a douchebag like Giuliani is still considered a "front-runner" is proof enough of this. It's all about name recognition right now. - jeffiek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"Carter was little known and barely registered one percent in the national polls as the campaign got underway in late 1975. "
http://www.etalkinghead.com/archives/mitt-romneys-carter-strategy-2007-08-22.html - mediablitz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3At this point in the race, Bill Clinton was given zero chance of winning even the Democratic nomination. The polls backed up that assertion. Do you deny he was elected president?
- Corrosionx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The only difference is Bill was pro-establishment, so he became a media darling.
- Corrosionx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Oh yeah like top-candidate Fred Thompson who got 4 people to show off at his campaign kicker?
Yeah, polls are accurate! /sarcasm
As long as "scientific polls" are done on landlines they are obsolete.
- fezzen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Not at this stage in the race. In fact the opposite has very often been true.
- SaudiMuslim, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Pessmistic, but looks - sadly - true. Decades and centuries from now, when the US is just another version of the USSR with a capitalist facade, the day will come when your offspring will curse you for not lynching Bush, Cheney and their cronies in the streets and spitting on their corpses.
- waynetheman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"He doesn’t seem the type to veto all the spending."
You would think the author would be more aware of Ron Paul's record. - FemaFunCamp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0they cant win unless they nuke
- lex0nyc, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2Buried for RP08 propaganda. This isn't news.
- gajillion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think Digg is doing a bang-up job of stopping Ron Paul in his tracks. I'm not voting for anyone whose base is a bunch of deluded paranoids who will accept this kind of drivel at face value.
- Radanator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You're right, RP's hair doesn't look as nice as Mitt Romney.
- Corrosionx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1RP is a much more consciencious spender. Anyways I'm sure he could find a volunteer to do his hair for free.
- Radanator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You're right, RP's hair doesn't look as nice as Mitt Romney.
- TheNeptune, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I really was disappointed how quickly this got removed from the front page - it was only there a whole 5 minutes.
- DavidGX, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Buried for mentioning "rp".
- mentor972, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Who is President Ron Paul?
- ktorbeck, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1First he is not the President and he never will be. Get real people at the Ron Paul campaign people know your behind the stupid stories like this. Your not going to win!!! Americans don't want someone who is going to take there marching orders from Bin Landen.
If you really want Bin Landen's endorsement why don't you ask. I am sure that would look great on a yard sign.- Corrosionx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Bush takes his marching orders from Bin Laden. Bin Laden says "I hate your freedom", Bush says "I will legislate away your freedom"
- c5kirk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I like RP and would definitely vote for him... unfortunately I think that back in the real world he has about as much of a chance to win the Presidency as I do... and I'm not running.
