- Erythroxylum, on 07/08/2008, -2/+21Unless this national security force is comprised entirely of black, man-hating, vegetarian lesbians, whose boots are made of hemp (not leather because 'MeeT iZ teH mUrderZ11!!LOL') and whose machinery runs off solar power and wind energy, and who resolve conflicts with debate which starts out civil and then degrades into them screeching at the enemy until he wishes he could just die to get away from them, then this probably isn't going to sit well with Obama's base. I mean these people tend to regard armed forces as evil, baby-killing fascists. Especially the American ones. In fact, pretty much only the American ones. And her allies. The rest are misunderstood, brave, noble, handsome, fresh-smelling freedom fighters or something who're just innocent fisherman until they're forced to take up arms because they're being picked on by the aforementioned baby-killing fascists.
And I boubt even Obama is going to be able to find 2.9 million black, man-hating, vegetarian lesbians. Even He has His limits.
And another thing - I've encountered far lefties (only online thankfully) who whinge about defense spending being 1/5 of the US budget; that it's far too high. They didn't even have a problem with the German Nazi military until Germany invaded Russia. It's just the military of free democratic countries that they despise.
