- marabout40, on 08/12/2008, -8/+49We know you're "taint[ed]" John. That's why come November 4, the majority of voters will reject you as a tainted politician. I hope all your years of being "influenced" and being "bought" by lobbyists serves you well.
- HaJaneG, on 08/12/2008, -2/+9LOL...yeah that's what we'd like to hope....not all voters are as smart as you and I would like to think.
- Brownds, on 08/12/2008, -2/+3You said it. I read some disturbing poll data in the last month that among registered voters Obama did not lead by much and among Likely voters McCain actually leads Obama. You would think after 8 years of this bull ***** the majority of people would realize we need a change in government. I am only voting for Obama because he is the lesser of 2 evils, after the FISA vote he lost what little thunder he had from me. But McCain seems too much a status quo guy to me.
- marabout40, on 08/12/2008, -0/+3Brownds, enjoy: http://www.pollster.com/
Don't like that one? Try this one: http://fivethirtyeight.com - HaJaneG, on 08/12/2008, -1/+1Yeah I was really disturbed about FISA too! I think that's when I started to truly question the credibility of his positions. Did you hear about his stance on pursuing prosecution against the Bush administration if he was to come into office? He was open for investigation, but nothing more...any thoughts?
- puppyfox, on 08/12/2008, -0/+3I would hope that people would critically use such information, but whenever I'm exposed to "average" people, they vote for someone or another because they already decided what party/personality to vote for, and are just using selective facts (true or false, that's why negative ads "work") to convince themselves. When people use completely flawed arguments to decide something, it's appalling whether I agree with the conclusion or not.
- HaJaneG, on 08/12/2008, -2/+0If Obama is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't do you think he should start going full force with the negative attack ads?
- roddack, on 08/12/2008, -4/+2Please both Canadiates are bought and paid1 for and will both just make the government larger and larger
quit trying to pretend that Obama is the messiah and McCain is the anti-christ
They are both corrupt who will drive us further along the road to hell with their "good" intentions
.- Lyk4n, on 08/12/2008, -1/+2First: What is this hell you speak of?
Second: Not everyone in America hates large government..
- Lyk4n, on 08/12/2008, -1/+2First: What is this hell you speak of?

- barbiesnow, on 08/12/2008, -5/+27It's about time that the Keating Five Scandal was presented to the American public! John was in the middle of it, yet pleaded that he "unknowingly" took part in a corrupt scheme...ha ....and now his adopted son Andrew, now a banker (resigned recently from a Bank in NV)..Isn''t Cindy in the know on all of these illegitimate money laundering, false mortgage terms, hidden bank accounts, surely Miss Buffalo Chip who was savvy enough to get a prenuptial agreement and keep their accounts separate...gave him a bit of insider knowledge...
- JohnnyMarr, on 08/12/2008, -8/+21John McCain is a swine.
- FamousAnus, on 08/12/2008, -1/+4Thank you for that constructive criticism. You just converted me. Where do I sign up?
- zenithmbr, on 08/12/2008, -8/+2wtf, is something wrong with youtube, or is just me?
- yojiffyskippy, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Both.
- Skywise, on 08/12/2008, -18/+8How much money DID Obama take from Exxon?
- Brownds, on 08/12/2008, -4/+1As much as he was offered.
- steelersfan7roe, on 08/12/2008, -1/+6None. The company cannot legally give to a candidate.
- Skywise, on 08/12/2008, -1/+1Well then why does Obama lie and say McCain took money from Exxon then?
- bbqsalad, on 08/12/2008, -11/+4He is gunna win.
- somethinspecial, on 08/12/2008, -6/+20If you're not in bed with DC lobbyists, then obviously you're not experienced enough to be president!
- digg50, on 08/12/2008, -10/+7best things ist McCain can be beaten using his own words.
- rationalbeats, on 08/12/2008, -7/+20The John McCain campaign is the most unorganized and immature campaign I have ever witnessed.
- malman4, on 08/12/2008, -4/+4Haven't been around long, huh?
- Brownds, on 08/12/2008, -2/+4Where were you in 2000 & 2004?
- FamousAnus, on 08/12/2008, -7/+1When you look at it through the lenses of Jedreport, Huffington Post, and ThinkProgress - honestly....what in the hell did you think you would see?
- Hoffpa, on 08/12/2008, -16/+7To bad Obama does not have 18 years of experience to look into.
- n3demonic, on 08/12/2008, -1/+2I'll play devil's advocate and say, you're right. It is too bad that Obama doesn't have 18 years of experience for us to look at.
For those who don't get it, it doesn't mean it'd be a bad 18 years of experience....
- n3demonic, on 08/12/2008, -1/+2I'll play devil's advocate and say, you're right. It is too bad that Obama doesn't have 18 years of experience for us to look at.
- chrissku, on 08/12/2008, -2/+8Let's not forget this story either....
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/21/us/politics/21mc ... - lonesomewolf, on 08/12/2008, -6/+1We have a tainted system all together. I don't think you can play at the level of the presidential candidates and not be seriously tainted unfortunately and I have yet to see a proposal on how to fix our broken political system.
- DeathToAmerica, on 08/12/2008, -10/+1Lobbyists run the Country. John McCain is the man for the job, If obama wins he will not be able to get things done with lobbyists and neo-conz ***** blocking him the whole time. I say again John McCaine is the man for the job.
- FamousAnus, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Oh please....lets stop being drama queens for a minute and be real. Lobbyists might have a bit too much influence in things (I actually agree on that) - but they aren't running the country.
I love the bit about Obama too...so even if he gets elected and fails...it's all the "neo-conz" fault? You've essentially created your own little world in which you can't possibly be wrong. I'd argue with you, but there's no point in it.
Eh...with that user name, you're likely a troll anyways.

- tcbishop12, on 08/12/2008, -4/+9McCain who had received quid pro quo favors from Charles Keating for many years, in 1988 agreed to join several senators, eventually known as the Keating Five, for two private meetings with regulators to urge them to ease up on Lincoln Savings.
“Why didn’t I fully grasp the unusual appearance of such a meeting?” Mr. McCain later lamented in his memoir.
When Lincoln went bankrupt in 1989 — one of the biggest collapses of the savings and loan crisis, costing taxpayers $3.4 billion — the Keating Five became infamous. The scandal sent Mr. Keating to prison and ended the careers of three senators, who were rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee in 1991 for intervening and obstructing justice.
Mr. McCain, who had been a less aggressive advocate for Mr. Keating than the others, was reprimanded for “poor judgment” ...and was re-elected the next year.
Some people involved think Mr. McCain got off too lightly. William Black, one of the banking regulators the senator met with, argued that wealthy socialite Cindy McCain’s investment with Mr. Keating created an obvious conflict of interest for her husband. McCain should not be able to “put this behind him,” Mr. Black said. “He has no integrity. - chrissku, on 08/12/2008, -8/+3John McCain looks like he wears about a size 5 shoe.
- vexingmodstwo, on 08/12/2008, -14/+8Oh look! More fap material for the Obama circle-jerk committee.
- Lyk4n, on 08/12/2008, -2/+1Wanna be in the middle? We'd like you to be.. ;)
- grobinson, on 08/12/2008, -2/+13John McCain is ready to lead?
He sure is ready to lead our country into the hands of the lobbyists. - spookyttws, on 08/12/2008, -2/+10He's old. In 1990 he looked (physically) like some one who could be president. Now he looks like the Father of the guy we saw in 1990.
- GoneGreen, on 08/12/2008, -0/+5the skeleton has skeletons in his closet.
- twoifbysea, on 08/12/2008, -12/+5Dear Kevin Rose,
Please reprogram the Digg architecture to purge any articles that mention 'Obama is the best, Hooray!!' or 'McCain is Mr. Evil'. This should eliminate 90% of the trash articles that make it on the front page of Digg.
(Sorry all you people living in your parents basement).
Thanks!!

- AndrewMoyer, on 08/12/2008, -2/+9I wonder how much Diebold is contributing to his campaign... oh wait, that's right, the entire election.
- uselessexpert, on 08/12/2008, -2/+9As long as lobbyist are allowed to mingle with the politicians there will always be a conflict of interest.
I have a very good friend who is a lobbyist for one of the top pharma firms, and from his stories, lobbyist are paid VERY WELL to make sure the politicians are happy and kept happy.
We need to remove the lobbyist from Washington in order to have a more balanced government.
Because the way it is now, the government is run by big corporation. - iDiggYa, on 08/12/2008, -3/+2I thought there was a ninja behind E.J. Dionne in the thumbnail. Then I remembered that you can't see ninjas.
- daskro, on 08/12/2008, -6/+3Not surprisingly, most diggers have no real conception of what a lobbyist is or does in the scope of our political system apart from "they serve evil corporations," and "they're 'special interests.'" The fact is lobbyists (of all kinds, including NGO, single-issue, worker, & corporate) serve a necessary function in our government to keep our representatives informed about the economic and social issues that effect their constituents.
- vexingmodstwo, on 08/12/2008, -2/+2It's like they're completely ignorant to the fact that there are Abortion Lobbyists, Environmental Lobbyists, etc whose executives make a pretty hefty paycheck for what they do. Some of them get paid sums that would lead one to believe they're not really non-profit organizations.
But that's okay because there's no profit involved... such good little commies, those leftists.

- ResevorDG, on 08/12/2008, -1/+5This goes to show the honesty of this guy. Everyone knows that every senator and congressman has talked to lobbyist. The fact that McCain and recognize that simply talking to one can be an influence, means that he understands a bit about the reality of communication, and he is not trying to hide behind some lie that he has never had his mind changed by a lobbyist.
BTW a lobbyist is good thing if they are working for you. If any one here belongs to AOPA, EAA, NEA, a teachers union, any union (factory workers this means you), the NRA, PETA, Green Peace, The Boy Scouts, Planed Parenthood, any Right To LIfe org, a right to die org, or anything like that at all, guess what!!!!
YOUE EMPLOY LOBBYISTS. If you care about your cause or organization than you should hope yours is talking to McCain AND Obama.- vexingmodstwo, on 08/12/2008, -3/+2No dude... Obama and the Democrats never talk to lobbyists. They just know about every issue inherently because they're that good. They know all. They are experts in everything.
How dare you suggest any different.

- cowleyad, on 08/12/2008, -6/+0Funny how bad the memories are for Obama fans. Have they forgotten Obama's scandals and associates as well?
- NathanHaleFTW, on 08/12/2008, -4/+2Why is everything on Digg about McCain negative?
Is there anyone out there who is actually in 100% support for him?- IdigObama, on 08/12/2008, -0/+3Sure! Everyone that supports Bush supports McSame.
- crackberri, on 08/12/2008, -8/+0They attempted to generate a positive clip on the Messiah but realized the Holy One does not have any accomplishments……….
- any1particular, on 08/12/2008, -0/+5It blows my mind how anyone can possibly even consider a vote for the war mongering, lying, and slllooooww thinking Republicans?
One only need look at what the 'conservative' mood of the last 8+ years has done to our great country.
Republicans and their political rhetoric point out that they represent lean MEAN government. But what about a bloated military? The (very expensive) Industrial Military Complex is not government?
Unfortunately many Americans have been brain washed by the (malicious) right wing radio hosts.
For example they attach stigma to Socialism. And yet the countries with the highest standard of living are socialist.
Did you know that the # 1 cause of bankruptcy in the United States is unanticipated medical bills?
Predatory lending is another good example of the 'right' gone wrong. If the mortgage industry had been regulated we wouldn't be in the housing mess we're in now. Thank you Republicans!
And the weak dollar? Yes. again we can blame the conservatives. America has become more a debt 'junkie' - - than ever before with total debt of $53 Trillion - - and the highest debt ratio in history. Thank you Conservatives!
And the high price of oil? Unregulated futures market (a few getting very rich-very Republican) a week dollar and a federal government with out vision. Thank you again Republicans!
I too am going to campaign vigorously for President Oboma.
God help us all if John McBush gets into office.
