Somebody forgot to tell Hillary Clinton the race is over.
reuters.com — Somebody forgot to tell Hillary Clinton the Democratic presidential race is over and Barack Obama won. Obama has captured more state contests, more votes and more of the pledged convention delegates who will help decide which Democrat faces Republican Sen. John McCain in November's presidential election. Watch out for bear in image preview!

http://www.myconfinedspace.com/2007/11/09/im-kurt- ... - DavidBGie, on 03/28/2008, -4/+2Someone forgot to tell the Democrats that McCain/Romney will win. The Democrats have effectively destroyed their party. Why? Because Obama and Hillary have no difference in policy. Centralization, wealth distribution and socialism. Both have the same old loser beliefs. McCain and Romney are set for a history making slam!

- whatthefu, on 03/28/2008, -8/+17To be fair, most of Digg rose up in fury every time someone said those exact words about Ron Paul.
- AXNJAXN, on 03/28/2008, -11/+10Ron Paul hasn't been telling stories about Bosnia.
- amoirae, on 03/28/2008, -7/+12He just lies about his racist past which is worse.
- cygnus2112, on 03/28/2008, -2/+1To be fair to both Obama and Ron Paul, can you attribute racism and bigotry to them when those words were made by friends and people on their campaigns? Obama's pastor and long-time good friend is not Obama. Paul's old friend and campaign guy, Rockwell, who wrote all that material in the newsletters isn't Paul.
Unfortunately, sometimes we have a friend who is a racist. The important part is not to let it deter or affect our own opinions about people and that it doesn't make us discriminate against others.
- ThndrShk2k, on 03/28/2008, -3/+8And you believe he has reason to lie about something like that?
His history proves that such allegations are false, and he has taken the responsibility and blame for not editing his newsletter more carefully during the years it went out.
Tell me ANY politician that has done even something similar. Seriously, taking the responsibility for a bad judgement call of someone who was part of their team? Most of them would rather throw that person out and say "Good luck asshole" or even when they can not find out who did those deeds, wouldn't take responsibility for the misdeeds.
Stop watching Fox news and use reason, damnit. - Blankcheque, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2Yes, because if he were more selective in editing his newsletter, he would be a closet bigot instead of having it slammed in his face.
That and Ron Paul is off in fantasy land along with all his supporters.- cygnus2112, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2Google the truth. It isn't that tough.
- amoirae, on 03/28/2008, -7/+12He just lies about his racist past which is worse.
- Pilot85, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1I didn't, really.
- topgigmedia, on 03/28/2008, -0/+4Ron Paul didn't have the luxeries that Clinton has had, such as endless press coverage, a former popular president ("Bubba") campaigning for her, etc... etc... I think pointing out that she lost is more of a statement on how bad she choked, not how tragic and unfair her loss was. Ron Paul's situation comes with a bit more of a bitter taste for these reasons mentioned.
- AXNJAXN, on 03/28/2008, -11/+10Ron Paul hasn't been telling stories about Bosnia.
- RepubOperative, on 03/28/2008, -26/+8I don't know which to believe but you Democrats are sure amusing. So which is the dirty ***** lie?
1) Hillary's dangerous trip to Bosnia or 2) Baracka Obama never having attended his ministers hate speeches, which went on and on for twenty years....his minister married him, baptized his children and was a close friend and associate in prayer and family matters for twenty years and the stupid racist church only sold video tapes of, get this THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE HATE SPEECH.
Or are they both liars?- Scalpels, on 03/28/2008, -2/+7They are both politicians.
- Laughsatyou, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3they should be exempt?
- Scalpels, on 03/29/2008, -0/+0No. I'm implying that politicians are professional liars.
- Laughsatyou, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3they should be exempt?
- feanix, on 03/28/2008, -3/+10Um, even if Obama did defend the hate speech (he didn't, he condemned it, he refused to condemn the minister, however), how would that be a lie?
- qwerter, on 03/28/2008, -3/+4Just ignore him. He posts this on every Obama story.
- Laughsatyou, on 03/28/2008, -5/+1I never heard about it until now.
- lgm1213, on 03/28/2008, -2/+4But does he have a point?
- Bemuzed, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2I think you are missing his point. RepubOperative is pointing out that Obama had to at some point have heard a similar speech from his pastor. I being from the same background as Obama, find it surprising that Obama has never heard another speak like that before. This makes me question his judgment. If I had a friend or pastor think this way then I would not associate with them -- period.
- qwerter, on 03/28/2008, -3/+4Just ignore him. He posts this on every Obama story.
- sumdog, on 03/28/2008, -4/+16You ever seen the original speeches in entirety? You may actually find yourself agreeing with some of the thing that pastor says. The speeches have been taken horribly out of context.
- lgm1213, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3No they really haven't read the whole sermon and its still a stance on division
- pushmouse, on 03/28/2008, -1/+7How many times are you going to copy and paste this?
- kxmjb, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3He must be proud of himself, but I don't know why he is.
- elipabst, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2"Or are they both liars?"
Actually I'm going with c) You are.
His "hate speeches" did not go "on and on". In fact it seems pretty clear that someone has gone through his speeches to find incidents when they occurred, because they're able pinpoint the exact dates and Barack was proven not to be there. So really the onus is on you to prove any of the rubbish you posted above, otherwise it's libel.
- Scalpels, on 03/28/2008, -2/+7They are both politicians.
- muffinmonk, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3Somebody forgot to remember that she doesn't want to leave the race. Digg? Don't tell me you don't remember?
- boonesfarm, on 03/28/2008, -5/+6The hourly Obama glamor-posts almost make me yearn for the days of Ron Paul spam.
BTW, Mooki, you had a devastating crossover move back in the day.- ThndrShk2k, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2Well, that could always increase if Ron Paul gets his last ditch effort at the RNC by claiming enough delegates in the party voting.
Lincoln did it before.
- ThndrShk2k, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2Well, that could always increase if Ron Paul gets his last ditch effort at the RNC by claiming enough delegates in the party voting.
- 1longtime, on 03/28/2008, -6/+4Count Michigan and Florida, plz.
- iriswashere, on 03/28/2008, -1/+6It is tough to count Michigan when Obama's name wasn't even on the ballot. And an aside: she only won 60% of the vote in Michigan -- 40% of Dem voters in Michigan turned out to vote "Other" -- just to vote for no one and vote against her. I think the Dem. party will come up with some way of representing Michigan though. But people in that state need to take it up with their local party authorities -- they did this to themselves even though they knew what the consequences would be loooong beforehand. And even if they DID count MI and FLA, Obama would still be well ahead. She would still have a difficult time catching up with the 10 contests left and would have to win every one of them by a landslide.

Old Barack:
Don’t tell me words don’t matter.
‘I have a dream.’ Just words?
‘We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal.’ Just words?
‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself.’ Just words? Just speeches?
New Barack:
'God damn America.' Just words.
'US government created Aids, supplied drugs to our community.' Just words.
'US of KKKA.' Just words.
'What we are doing is the same thing al-Qaeda is doing.' Just words.
'Until now, I was never proud of my country.' Just words from my wife.- zephc, on 03/28/2008, -4/+13"So?" - Dick Cheney
- Vermifax, on 03/28/2008, -5/+14Alright, already. You hate Black people. We get it.
- Laughsatyou, on 03/28/2008, -4/+4so if he is against obama he hates black people? nice logic.
- Vermifax, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1You got it backwards. You see, he hates Black People. Therefore, he's against Obama. See how that works...? Thanks for playing.
- Laughsatyou, on 03/28/2008, -4/+4so if he is against obama he hates black people? nice logic.
- RedHerringHack, on 03/28/2008, -10/+5No he hates hypocrisy. I do too. Vermifax, you are the racist, as you see racism everywhere.
- Vermifax, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1Hey, Red. How's it going. FOX News is hiring. Go check them out.
They also think that EVERY Black American (Sec. Rice & Juan Williams excluded) is a racist, baby-makin', welfare recipient or whatever. FOX would hire you in a second. You could be Hannity's fluffer.

Long story, is with yes, but then the obama was then her with is no. - JoeVet, on 03/28/2008, -1/+1Well let's see. She is an extremely successful woman and a well known name to many throughout the world. You however are a nobody. So I guess the answer is yes, she has a great grasp of reality.
- j0hneb0y81, on 03/28/2008, -20/+114i still dont understand why ANYONE would vote for her..
are they that blind to the fact that she is a deceitful, rude, shady, bitch?- WaxenPith, on 03/28/2008, -38/+4most of all a woman.
- qwerter, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2You're not helping. Misogyny only makes her stronger.
- saleem, on 03/28/2008, -5/+41the answer I get to that from clinton supporters is "that's politics!" or "thats what you need to succeed in DC"
NO. That's not what you need and not the kind of person I want to support. Obama '08.- Lyph5, on 03/28/2008, -11/+6Yeah, she's terrible! Now, support the guy who is EXACTLY THE SAME AS HER.
Your post is full of contradiction and lulz.- JulyZerg, on 03/28/2008, -1/+4Bill?
- nyx210, on 03/28/2008, -4/+11Exactly. If she's doing this ***** now, what in the holy hell will she do when she gets into office?!
- rholland356, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2Hillary is showing the same bullheaded behavior that republicans exhalted in their hero, GW Bush. Eyes down, ears closed, full speed ahead and to hell with what anyone thinks.
Do we REALLY want more of this type of crap in our leadership?- thumperings, on 03/28/2008, -3/+1I'm just hoping she has an all out freak attack crying in some totalyl revealing moment "NO BILL IT WAS MINE MINEEE MINEEEEE i TELL YOU "I DESERVED IT . MINEEEE!!, As she crashes her car into some 7th graders or something by mistake. I could totally see her losing her mind as she is forced back into obscurity. (We can hope) . She is the last personality type that should ever be given power. . She would have totally abused it. I despise her smug fakeness. Al Gore at least made lemonade when he was handed lemons. She on the other hand will wither in the bitterness, and I can't wait to watch, as long as no kids get hurt.
- Bemuzed, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Hillary is intelligent and an intellectual, President George W. Bush is not.
- rholland356, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2Hillary is showing the same bullheaded behavior that republicans exhalted in their hero, GW Bush. Eyes down, ears closed, full speed ahead and to hell with what anyone thinks.
- lex0nyc, on 03/28/2008, -2/+4I'm reminded of the scene in /Contact/ where Jodie Foster says "I always thought the world is what you make it" after the senior scientist screws her over and blames it on the way the world works. Then he died. Go karma. lol
- Lyph5, on 03/28/2008, -11/+6Yeah, she's terrible! Now, support the guy who is EXACTLY THE SAME AS HER.
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 03/28/2008, -6/+6I'm confident that many of today's obama supporters in NY helped vote her into the senate, and she was no less shady then as she is now.
- aliengoods, on 03/28/2008, -4/+10I would agree that Obama supporters helped elect her. But what's your point? Also, she didn't have to go negative to win her first election. She was running against a weak Republican candidate.
- qwerter, on 03/28/2008, -2/+4It's called trading up. Voters are allowed to do that when they see a better option.
- iriswashere, on 03/28/2008, -2/+5Yeah I would have voted for her if Obama weren't in the race, but he is so I'm voting for him. I don't understand the point. For me he is a better option. You pick the best there is. Running against a weak Repub candidate for the Senate, she was the best option there was. In this election, she isn't.
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 03/28/2008, -2/+3my point is within the context of the comment I responded to, "are they that blind to the fact that she is a deceitful, rude, shady, bitch?" she always was, that didn't stop people from voting her into the sentate, so why is people choosing her again, ignoring the same character flaws, that big of a deal now, as digg users have made it
- Bemuzed, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1It is amazing how people can toss around words like shady and whatever else they call the Clinton's. But at the end of the day, they have done more for this country than 99.9% of the people on this service will/want/can ever do. So it is so nice of all of us to have the luxury of sitting in our homes just worrying about our own simple lives while others do the hard work. Grow up diggers. Grow up America.
- Spoomeister, on 03/28/2008, -1/+4Yes.
- leexy, on 03/28/2008, -1/+28You must have missed the part where the American people put Bush twice in the White House.
- youareretarded, on 03/28/2008, -0/+7That's one I'll never understand. I have yet to get a decent answer from anyone as to why they voted for bush twice.
- sakuraz, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2Maybe they didn't?
- L4WL3RS34L, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2Yea, there was definitely something fishy going on, but I guess we'll never find out.
- RedHerringHack, on 03/28/2008, -5/+1So, you wanted the fearmongering gore to win? Yes, fearmongering. The world is going to end because of global warming. It's a money grab. Gore is no better than michael moore.
- druakara, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Fear mongering? 9-11, terrorism, 9-11, terrorism.... war on terror! THAT is fear mongering - that is what Bush has done. At least with Gore we would have been researching alternative fuels, focused on education, and not entering into a 'war' for the sake of oil (It's a money grab as you say.)
-oh, and as far as I'm concerned Gore did win - he may have chosen not to fight for his victory, but he did win, the American people spoke, and the government ignored us (again).
- druakara, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Fear mongering? 9-11, terrorism, 9-11, terrorism.... war on terror! THAT is fear mongering - that is what Bush has done. - chugodigg, on 03/28/2008, -1/+0Rigged.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Fear mongering, lies, and smears can get you further than you might imagine. If you really want to know how Bush won his second term pick up "The Truth (with jokes)" by Al Franken. It's a good read, but I'll warn you it's hard to get through because it's so depressing.
- youareretarded, on 03/28/2008, -0/+7That's one I'll never understand. I have yet to get a decent answer from anyone as to why they voted for bush twice.

- Jus7in, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1The fact that Bush still has a head means that nobody is getting assassinated in the near future, no matter how bad of a president they are. Sad but true.
- dumpyhumpy, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Ummm, no, one of the many ingenious things about this administrations: Off W, and CHEYNEY is pres!!! Even the biggest nuts know that that would be even worse.
- nfkiller, on 03/28/2008, -7/+23Mrs. Clinton, Michigan and Florida went against party wishes and were penalized for it. You want their vote counted at no foul. Do you wish to send the message to the states that they can change their primaries and or caucuses to suit their interests in future contests at no penalty? Primaries then can start 6 years out?
- 1longtime, on 03/28/2008, -6/+5Tossing out millions of votes... awesome idea. I guess you don't live in Michigan or Florida.
- nfkiller, on 03/28/2008, -2/+9how about the voters in those two states who didn't go to the polls because they knew that their vote wasn't going to count? you can't change the rules at halftime because your team is down
- 1longtime, on 03/28/2008, -2/+4Um, re-vote? ...but they already tossed that idea, saying it wasn't "feasible." (Nothing to do with "teams" btw, I think Barack is a great candidate.)
- qwerter, on 03/28/2008, -2/+5How would we count them, then? This is a really tricky issue for everyone involved. Obama's name wasn't even on the Michigan ballot, so republicans and independents who could have voted for a Democratic nominee, but wanted their votes to count, voted in the Republican primary. For Michigan's vote to really count, we would have to either hold both the Democratic AND Republican primary all over again, or go back in time and stop them from breaking DNC rules.
Then there's money. The DNC shouldn't have to pay for it, because they told them not to move their primaries in the first place. The states won't pay for it, because they already paid for it once the first time around, and the taxpayers shouldn't have to be penalized for their government's mistake.
THEN there's the fact that as soon as Hillary started losing, she began talking about how it wasn't fair for Florida and Michigan to not have their votes counted, when she said it didn't matter in the first place. They weren't too keen on the idea when Obama was on a roll in February, either. She positioned herself as "the candidate who wants your vote to count" and painted Obama as the guy who wanted to disenfranchise everyone. Like THAT's not going to sway anyone's vote...
To me, the whole thing seems screwed. It sucks for the people living there that their votes don't count--but what do we do to fix this? How do we make it fair? Do you have any ideas?- rahamm, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2Here is the idea you have a revote, there are already people wanting to pay for it. Stop acting like there is no money just have a revote. DONE FIXED NO LONGER ARE YOU THROWING THE STATES AWAY AND LOSING THE GENERAL ELECTION BECAUSE OF IT!
- 1longtime, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1@Qwerter - Good point, it IS incredibly complicated, but I think the DNC should be able to sort it out with some sort of penalty that WON'T affect the voters (just the states' Dem reps).
I'm still amazed that I was Dugg down on the previous comment. Millions of people are being disenfranchised, doesn't that bother you Diggers?
Cmon, I know most of you are pro-Obama, but get real, peoples' votes should count. RE-VOTE PLZ. - nirav72, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2Simple solution - Give both candidates 50 % of the delegates in FL. In all fairness, ignore Michigan because Obama was not on the ballot. Its in Hillary's best interest to take that as a solution. Because she would never get 100% of the delegates in FL (even if she wins the primary). Also , she would surely loose MI in a new primary.
- Asrrin29, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2I LIVE in Michigan, and I DO NOT want my or any other vote to count from this state, because we were all made CLEARLY aware of the rules at the time and hillary is trying to break them for her own personal gain, and would disenfranchise myself, and potentially thousands of others who did not vote or voted republican because of the rules presented to us.
- nfkiller, on 03/28/2008, -2/+9how about the voters in those two states who didn't go to the polls because they knew that their vote wasn't going to count? you can't change the rules at halftime because your team is down
- rahamm, on 03/28/2008, -2/+3Yes the Republican Governor of Florida went against the Democratic Parties wishes, we should punish them by not counting some 8% of all Democrats because of a Republican decision! DO you know how silly you sound?
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 03/28/2008, -1/+4As a Michigan voter I'm disgusted by Mrs. Clinton's actions. She has not advocated a re-vote. She has advocated for our delegates to count. Big surprise since she CONVENIENTLY was the only major candidate who just so happened to have forgotten to remove herself from our ballot. That's an underhanded move by any measure.
As far as the whole primary thing goes. I side with my state in the opinion that our primary process, and our electoral process as a whole, is broken. Always voting as late as we do has consistently gotten us ignored by candidates.
So shame on the Democratic party for denying Michigan and Florida democrats their right to choose which candidate they want in the fall. And shame on Mrs. Clinton for trying to take advantage of Michigan and Florida voters.
BTW, the Republicans came up with a solution for their primary votes. It doesn't give me a whole lot of faith in the democratic party that they consider punishing millions of people (who had NOTHING to do with the decisions made) over engaging in diplomacy with those within their own party.- rahamm, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1What are you talking about Clinton and her supporters said they would raise the money to have a revote and Obama is the one who said that was not fair. How is a revote not fair Obama?
- qwerter, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Many of his supporters voted Republican instead, since they didn't have the option to vote for him.
- rahamm, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1In the Florida primary where there was actual issues on the primary ballots you are telling me Democrats crossed sides and voted for Republicans AND where Obama was on the ballot is that what you are telling me? A Florida revote is the only option you can not punish a key swing state for a decision made by a Republican governor stop suggesting this please.

Why is that? They're not that far apart really. Billary took my state of TN (so sad). I mean I'm not a supporter. I don't like her for a variety of reasons and issues she stands for. I don't think any of the three candidates are all that great. None of them will stop us from building permanent bases in Iraq or actually finish this war.
I just think Obama is more winnable, more capable and I really hope deep down he'll make an impact. Right now McCain can say all the bat ***** stuff he wants like his little "Bomb Bomb Iran" song and no one cares because all the focus is on the democrats. The longer Billary stays in, the more it will hurt her party.
If this drags out until May, it will only leave four months for campaigning for the democrats.- kingUssop, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2If you look at the delegate counts breakdown, it is impossible for Clinton to win the delegate count from the votes, and likely she can't win the popular vote either. That's why everyone is sick to death of Hillary, she's made a fiction that it's ok to try to pressure the delegates to go with her anyway when she'll lose in both ways.
- eregorn, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2I look forward to reading all of your QQ comments when hillary is the nominee. bet you'll vote for her too
- kingUssop, on 03/28/2008, -1/+1How will she become the nominee? It's really impossible, so your presumption is just not knowing the facts I guess. There's one way and that is bribing super delegates to her side, against the way the vote went. That would make about 100% backlash from Obama voters... she basically has 2 choices: resign, or if she can steal the nomination lose the Presidency.
- eregorn, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1She's not going to lose if she wins. All of the conservatives threw a tantrum when McCain got the nomination but now they are supporting him. All of the liberals will throw a tantrum when Clinton gets the nomination but will end up supporting her.

- iriswashere, on 03/28/2008, -1/+0I agree with you zephyear. Anyone who has watched the Democratic debates has seen how well Obama does, and he is just getting better and better. McCain is practically tottering around the stage and I've seen him disoriented and had to be led off by his wife. Not to mention his shaky hands holding a piece of paper he was reading from! (See his NH victory speech for both.) And of course not to mention the Keating 5, cheating on his disabled first wife, etc., etc. which will all come out. Racism does exist in the US of course, but not as much as the Rush Limbaughs and others who try to divide us would like to have us believe. And the latest polls show that the Rev. Wright association has not hurt Obama and that people are pretty much over that (except the people who were never on his side to begin with and are looking for stuff to bitch about). Obama is almost the Democratic nominee as we speak -- Hillary has almost no chance other than to steal the election, so I have no idea why mogebier would be saying saying otherwise -- must just dislike Obama.

- digbird, on 03/28/2008, -2/+6I don't have any brief for Hillary or Obama. Yet I can't help but think that just like Hillary tried to rewrite the rules about Michigan and Florida, Obama's people are trying to rewrite the rules while the game is still going on.
The fact of the matter is that Democrat party rules specifically provide for the possibility of someone winning not because of pledged delegates but through the super-delegates as well. Also, Democrat Party rules say nothing about the idea that someone has to drop out of the race because he or she is behind in pledged delegates.
All of this complaining about Hillary makes me think of an old board-game called "Life." In it, the person who amasses the most money wins. Almost always this is done the conventional way, by slowly accumulating cash. But the rules of the game specifically allow someone to spin the wheel and if he or she hits the right number, they win. I have no doubt that a lot of people who have played the game the standard way and have accumulated the most money the conventional were upset when they lost at the last moment.
But that's the way that the rules were written. Obama, Hillary, and everyone else knew that going into the contest. You can't change the rules in the middle of the game and expect whoever would lose by them (in this case, HIllary) to smile and say, "good game." Instead, you wind up with someone who feels cheated and doesn't ever play again.
So I don't think it's fair to blame her for trying to win through the rules.- kingUssop, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2Obama is not trying to change anything. He's just suggesting like the rest of the world, "taking" delegates that were voted for the other person is not a morally sound way to handle the contest. Hillary is out of options and down to pure madness.
- macslut, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3Yours is the best post so far. I'm not a Hillary supporter. In fact I really don't like her, but... The rules for the super delegates were put in place a long time ago. I wonder how many people who are saying the super delegates should follow the votes of the people had ever objected to the existence of super delegates prior to this election? I wonder how many of them believe Michigan and Florida should be counted because it's only a technicality that the rules say they shouldn't.
Hillary should stay in the race because she could end up winning based whether or not the super delegates vote as they were intended versus if the super delegates are pressured into voting differently. - ApolloXLII, on 03/28/2008, -1/+1well, the thing is you truly need to understand the game of primary elections and the current state it is in. as we all know, McCain has the GOP all wrapped up and sitting pretty. this is bad for the DNC. while Hillary and Obama are duking it out, McCain is getting ready for the presidential elections. he basically has a head start and he's taking advantage of it completely. by Hillary staying in the race while it looks like she has very little chance of winning, she's dragging the DNC behind. she's basically going about the "i am going to have it or nobody is" route. by her delaying things more and more, it's making the DNC look weaker and weaker and giving McCain plenty of ammunition. also, think of superdelegates like electoral colleges. as we know, superdelegates can pick whichever candidate they want, but they generally represent their district. same with electoral colleges... except electoral colleges are far more important and far less likely to be changed (only happened once in history). so think of it like this... would you like some random person who you dont know who happens to have connections decide that you voted for the wrong candidate? in all honesty, we're not really voting for much more than to mildly persuade our superdelegate to choose the candidate that our majority picked. so indeed, yes... Hillary is slowly letting the air out of the DNC's tires the longer she stays.
- eregorn, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1If I lived in Michigan or Florida I would want my vote to count. Period. I wouldn't want my vote to be meaningless because a small group of party representatives decided to move the primary forward in time.

Congrats on Digg/MSNBC/Huffington post for Sinking Obama's chances by Alienating all the core Clinton supporters.
Keep on trucking.- wipis, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2Well I suppose that means they are reporting the truth even if they don't like it.
And its stupid to say the race is over. It's far from over and Clinton could still win. Even if Obama has a few more delegates at the convention the DNC still allows for wiggle room so she could still win then. Her chances are less then his and shrinking but it's not over. Not to say I support Clinton. I'm just saying it's not over. - defwheezer, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1I think that there is a 20-30% (at least) block of former Dems/Repubs who are now independent and account for this apparent "swing" vote for Hillbilly or Obama. Once there is a clear McCain VS DemX contrast, unless the media really does a concerted "noise"/echo chamber smear campaign against DemX, those "swing" voters will likely support the better/saner candidate- and that candidate will not be Bush III. This is assuming that the voting system is not rigged enough to corrupt the popular vote.
- ApolloXLII, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2you really think Digg has that big of an influence in the election process? if that was the case, then Ron Paul would already be president somehow.

- bryanricker, on 03/28/2008, -1/+6This race is the closest that any democratic primary race has ever been in history. To say that either of them is ahead or that there is a definitive winner is absurd. "If you count the popular vote in FL, and MI Obama is ahead by less than 100k votes. If she wins PA by even a 10% margin(which in mind will be a lot bigger) she will be ahead by 200-300k votes. So will the race then be over for Obama? When she wins WV, KY, and IN will the race then be over. When they finally count FL, and MI will the race then be over for Obama? We can sit here all day and ask ourselves these questions, but the truth is Obama has only won one state that would do us any good in the general election and that is Missouri, and according to the latest polls he down in that state to McCain. My question for everyone then goes; why is everyone so cynical about Hillary Clinton. She clearly is a better leader on the economy, foreign policy, global warming, health care, and the home foreclosure crisis. She is the first candidate that came out with plans for any of these issues facing America. Maybe she's not the most hipe or the coolest in the minds of some of huffingtonposts, msnbc, cnn, or or other liberal media/bloggers/pundits minds, but she is incredibly smart and has been working on behalf of american families for years. She has a PROVEN solid record of getting health care, education, and resources for our veterans since she has been in the senate. She has a PROVEN record of reaching across party lines and working on getting things done in a bi-partisan way. That is what I call uniting, not calling Hillary Clinton a "monster" or "flawed" those are politics as usual the very thing Obama said he doesn't do. This election is way too important for us to think or take a chance on someone who has NO experience and so far what I've seen in the campaign doesn't convince me that he is going to be a uniter, new type of politician, or even has a plan for many of the problems facing us. I hear him talk about the economy, talk about health care, talk about the home foreclosure crisis, but only after Clinton has laid out her plan in detail leading the way for real solutions."- lovemesomehim, on 03/28/2008, -3/+0Cynicism is a defense mechanism with a deep cost. It is an attitude
that fundamentally can be reduced to cowardice in the face of fear.
Though a cynical attitude will superficially protect one from the
outrageous pain and let down of betrayal--by never believing in
anything other than the belief that nothing matters or is worthy of
one's enthusiasm and devotion--it also inevitably leaves one devoid
of any real capacity to believe in anything at all.
Barack Obama's timely and unique genius, and his potentially great
contribution to all beings on this planet, is as the first leader in
a generation capable of inspiring a significant proportion of the
American population to truly believe that America has not yet fallen
into inevitable decline and the great experiment of what America
embodies is not dead. That the evolution of human kind, and a
greater scope of compassion and care than one of merely Nation, Race,
and Ethnicity is possible. That as an example of this emergent
identification with a greater possibility and compassion we--Americans--
can lead the world towards a greater fusion; a synthesis that
transcends--but includes--the original identification of all of the
world's constituents into a greater and cohesive whole.
If we fail; if cynicism and greed and fear continues to reign supreme
in the American heart, so dies the possibility of guiding the world
towards any manner of future worth living. If we fail, our legacy
will be inevitable wars for oil, and water, and food as the planet
responds to our mindless and childish trashing of its surface and
Atmosphere and endeavors to throw us off as a dog would fleas
infesting its coat.
I agree completely that Emotion is essential in any honest,
authentic, campaign. Moreover, it is essential in any human endeavor.
The question is WHAT emotions will we entertain? Will we entertain
fear, loathing, hatred, and depression? Or will we entertain courage,
and love, and devotion? I would submit that if we feature the former
we are doomed; however, if we engage the latter we have an
opportunity to restore our nation, restore our moral capacity to
lead, and restore the planet.
I also agree, that the Cultural Relativists wing of the Democratic
party do us no favors. Though it is a supreme achievement to achieve
a pluralistic world view, the rejection of hierarchy is an
unintelligent contradiction. Cultural Relativists, Extreme Post
Modernists, would have us believe that no world view is better than
any other. Yet, they argue that a world view that holds no world view
better than any other is a better world view! There is Hypocrisy in
everything; however, a better word would be Holarchy as used by Ken
Wilber (http://www.kenwilber.com) example of the Integral
Philosophical Movement. As reprehensible, in a greater context, as
has been the policies and actions arising from George W Bush's world
view, it is a world view that is unarguably higher than that of a
Saddam Hussein, or Fidel Castro, etc. Equivalently,
Hillary Clinton's world view is unarguably superior to GW's; yet, I
will submit with all of the passion that I am capable of, Barack
Obama's world view is--yet again-- enhanced/higher/more evolved/more
transcendent than is Hillary's. And THAT is one of the most important
reasons why I campaign for him. Why my husband and I believe America
will be a much improved America with a leader of this magnitude! This is why
I spend the time writing and speaking to others on behalf of his
candidacy.- rdoger6424, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1holy ***** that needs a rewrite
