Media coverage? Don't make me laugh. - LeadOffMan, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3there are no reporters available to report it, they're on nobama World Tour '08
- mnocket, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1Isn't it typical that the MSM refuses to even investigate this report? I mean how hard could it be to interview the hotel employees who were involved in the incident? If it isn't true, they could report that despite considerable efforts they were unable to find any employees who were aware of the incident. I guess they kind of know that if they bothered to investigate they would find that the story is in fact true and they don't want to report it. I'm afraid the days of journalists following a story wherever it leads are long gone. Today the MSM just chooses to ignore stories if they don't support their ideology.

- drachemorder, on 07/22/2008, -5/+11True. But they publish practically any rumor they get as they get it, so at best it gives us something that could be investigated by more reliable journalists. They're wrong more often than they're right.
- michl2077, on 07/22/2008, -5/+13It's hard to find reliable journalists these days...might as well take my chances with the Enquirer.
- SheilaNoya, on 07/23/2008, -3/+2osko2052 - Don't forget that the National Enquirer has also been sued a gazillion times for printing sensational headlines that were 100% false. - bobfrancis, on 07/23/2008, -9/+4"If this is true" Which you will all soon learn that it is not.
- rjwusa, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6"...If this is true, John Edwards is scum for cheating on his wife while she battles cancer.."
Correction; Cheating on one's husband or wife makes one a scum. Period.
- siszam, on 07/22/2008, -14/+4I don't care anything about this. As long as he is a responsible father (if the child is his) and his wife has dealt with it (because after all, it's her business, not ours) it's between the people involved.
What I do care about is his heart for the poor and needy. If he can help the poor and help all Americans get health care then he should be our next vice president. And anyone who supports our current mass murdering president over Edwards is just a hypocrite. The people who support Bush and war are the ones who could most benefit from having universal mental health service.- nihil, on 07/23/2008, -5/+10Right, who cares if he's cheating on his wife as she battles CANCER!!
It shouldn't surprise me that Democrats who could overlook Bill Clinton's numerous sexual assaults can easily turn a blind eye to Edwards philandering.
More evidence that the Democrat party has no moral foundation.

poor Elizabeth, but him, couldnt happen to a nicer guy, phony - PACDIGG, on 07/23/2008, -4/+15Why am I not surprised that this article is getting such "ho-hum" reviews?
I'm sure the same people were jumping all over Larry Craig when that pervert was caught in the airport mens room.
But no, this is John Edwards the wonder boy. It can't "POSSIBLY" be true of Johnny! He's way too pretty and his hair looks so perfect (blech)
Sheesh, give me a break. Do you really think a married man with young children visits a woman in a hotel room until 2:30 am and sneaks around using back stairways because everything is on the up and up? Come on, wake up.
If nothings going on, he makes an appt. and she visits his office....duh. But there is something going on and it's yet another case of a slimey politician getting acught with his hand in the cookie jar.
The fact that at the very same time his own wife is going through what I heard on the radio today is stage 4 bone cancer makes me want to puke. I don't care if you're blue or red, or if the candidate is blue or red. Conduct like this should be called out for the slimey-ness that it is.
Be honest with yourself and add John E. to the long list of dirtbags...you'll sleep better.- actorboy, on 07/23/2008, -5/+2Craig has consistently stood with right-wing anti-homosexual groups to enact laws infringing upon the rights of gay people. He backed legislation he didn't believe in strictly to further his political career. It's a question of hypocrisy, not affairs.
- AustinMandi, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1No, it's still hypocrisy. You can't act like a good ol' boy from the South when the cameras are rolling and then turn around and be a typical scummy dirtbag politician when they are not.
Maybe it's just me but not being able to keep it in your pants while your wife of over 30 years is basically dying is lower than low. If he loves his mistress the respectable thing to do would be divorce his wife and make a new life with the other woman. That won't happen because broken families do not sit well with the groups he panders to and God forbid he should do something that could endanger his political career. Even if it's the morally correct thing to do. - Charlotte_Web, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2...and Edwards has a wife battling cancer that he's allegedly cheating on.
- AustinMandi, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1No, it's still hypocrisy. You can't act like a good ol' boy from the South when the cameras are rolling and then turn around and be a typical scummy dirtbag politician when they are not.

- Stevanoski, on 07/23/2008, -9/+3Wait a minute, Obama may not meet the high standards Edwards has set for himself so he may not choose to be O's VP.
- Ruler4you, on 07/23/2008, -3/+8America is getting a real taste for scum.
- uselessexpert, on 07/23/2008, -3/+7SEX....SEX...SEX....that's all this is about.
As long is someone famous and in the public eye, tabloids like the National Enquirer don't give a ***** who it is and who they are hurting.
They just want the story to sell their crappy publication
I feel bad for his wife, though!
To find out that your husband is cheating on you while you are battling cancer, or even just the rumor of the affair showing up on the internet and the National Enquirer must be shameful and embarrassing.. - LovelyFlower, on 07/23/2008, -6/+0Here are the only 3 pictures of her.

- actorboy, on 07/23/2008, -12/+5True or not true, it has nothing to with how he legislates. Now, people enacting laws against homosexuality while sneaking off to blow guys in the bathroom, that's a different story. Buried for who gives a *****.
- MacBigot, on 07/23/2008, -2/+8If you'll put your interests above what's best for your wife, you'll sure put them above what's best for your constituents. Moreover, just such and incident sidelined Gary Hart permanently.
You may not like that it matters, but you'd be a fool to think the Obama camp isn't weighing this story as it considers who stays on the short list for Obama's VP.- actorboy, on 07/23/2008, -3/+1If I have to choose between strong on personal life and strong on policy, I'll vote strong on policy.
I know you conservatives think people are supposed to be sears-catalog perfect, but that's not a reality. People are imperfect. I choose the imperfections that don't affect me. A politician ***** around doesn't affect the price of milk.
Besides, MacBigot, a person who "enjoys debating theology & politics," Jesus forgives and accepts philanderers -- who are you to set your standards higher than Jesus'? - jerger23, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3"I know you conservatives think people are supposed to be sears-catalog perfect, but that's not a reality. People are imperfect."
That's the philosophy that makes excuses for everyone who goes out murders their wife or solicits favors in a bathroom stall.
You want to throw Larry Craig in the stockade for his activities, fine. I don't give a hoot about his preferences/orientation, but he broke his marital vows and is a hypocrite and he's wrong for those reasons. And I don't care if he's a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent, Conservative, Liberal, or Moderate; you cannot attack his actions as you did above and defend another by saying humans are imperfect and shouldn't be held accountable for their actions. - MacBigot, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2@actorboy
You mean the same Jesus that told those "without sin" to stone a woman caught in adultery to death? That Jesus? If so, my standards are certainly not higher than His.
Of course, in bringing up forgiveness, you're talking about how Jesus treated the penitent, so that really doesn't apply to John Edwards at this point.
- actorboy, on 07/23/2008, -3/+1If I have to choose between strong on personal life and strong on policy, I'll vote strong on policy.
- jerger23, on 07/23/2008, -3/+2Above constituents, disloyalty to your wife indicates you'll put your own interests above those of the United States. If this is true, I will be condemning John Edwards alongside Larry Craig.
- actorboy, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2Then I guess you also consider Benjamin Franklin disloyal to America. Are you going to throw Thomas Jefferson in there as a traitor too?
- jerger23, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2I recall the allegations implicating both historical figures, though I don't recall any proof behind the claims.
If they were guilty of infidelity with their wives, then I would condemn those acts as well.
That being said, they are dead and not in a position to influence the laws or other policy makers of the nation as it stands today. Also, I did not call them traitors, I simply stated that infidelity at home demonstrates a propensity for a lack of fidelity in other areas, which includes the political arena and national security. But thank you for the straw man. - actorboy, on 07/23/2008, -2/+1"That being said, they are dead and not in a position to influence the laws or other policy makers of the nation as it stands today."
True, the constitution has had little influence on laws and policy makers as of late. - jerger23, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2Nice redirect, too bad it has nothing to do with the argument at hand.
- MacBigot, on 07/23/2008, -2/+8If you'll put your interests above what's best for your wife, you'll sure put them above what's best for your constituents. Moreover, just such and incident sidelined Gary Hart permanently.

- PolishLogic, on 07/23/2008, -1/+7Well Drudge thought enough of it to put the article on his site.
- Cuchanu, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2whether it's true or not I have no idea I'm just saying that in order to get truth out of the national enquirer you have to be very lucky.
- PolishLogic, on 07/23/2008, -1/+7Well Drudge thought enough of it to put the article on his site.
- datastorageguy, on 07/23/2008, -1/+15Can you imagine if this were ANY Republican politician? Nevermind a former candidate for president.....
It would be all over CNN, MSNBC, Reuters, AP, NY/LA Times front page, and every liberal blog in the country.
The hypocrisy is STUNNING.- actorboy, on 07/23/2008, -5/+3I think the difference lies in that it is the Republicans who tend to overly tout their Christian-right cred. It is the Republicans who are so quick to argue the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman. They are the ones who decided morality should be legislated, while the rest of us held firm the fact that the constitutionally mandated separation of church and state is the true road to inclusion and equality. It is the Republicans chosen platform of Christian morality that brings their own moral choices under the microscope. Holding your Bible in one hand while unzipping your pants with the other is true hypocrisy.
- nneader007, on 07/23/2008, -3/+3BREAKING NEWS:
Edwards love child turns out to be "Bat" boy. - SydBloom, on 07/23/2008, -2/+9Let's see if the liberal stalinist democrat moonbats are as tough on this sleezey little pretty pony as they were on Gingrich who did not sneak around on his wife...
- SydBloom, on 07/23/2008, -2/+8Let's also remember that National Enquirer was Clinton's back door publisher directly connected to the Clinton machine through their mutual attorney. Democrats had no problem with this slimebag publication then. Dan Rather quoted it several times from his bench in fact.
- knumbknuts, on 07/23/2008, -1/+15Sure, diggers mock the National Enquirer, but if had been a link on the Huffington Post to the same story, it'd be on the Front Page already.
Edward's career is toast. He was thin enough as a 1 term senator with two failed pres. bids. VP was his only career option. Or, maybe Governor of that state he's from. - Rich711, on 07/23/2008, -2/+11I wonder if all the liberals would be trying to down play the National Enquirer if it was Mitt Romney coming out of the hotel room at 3am of a woman he had already been romantically linked to.
- jerger23, on 07/23/2008, -3/+2Though I'm not a fan of John Edwards, I'm reserving judgement on this issue until it's reported somewhere with much more cred than the Enquirer.
- goodrich37, on 07/24/2008, -1/+7Why is anyone surprised to learn Edwards is a scumbag? He made his forture pillageing America's physicians thru deceipt and unethical lawsuits. This man deserves to have his pretty boy image trashed across the front page of every paper for his personal destruction of our healthcare system!
Thanks again National Enquirer. It's is amazing that our national media has become so corrupt and biased that we must turn to the tabloids to investigate politicians of the Democrat persuasion. - MadKennyP, on 07/24/2008, -5/+2If having an extramarital affair disqualifies one from being a VP nominee, what does that say for John McCain? McCain was having an affair with his current wife, Cindy, while still married to his former wife and mother of his children, Carol.
- MadKennyP, on 07/24/2008, -3/+2In a nutshell.
goodrich37 thinks McCain is a "scumbag."

- dandan111, on 07/28/2008, -0/+1Vice Presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards was caught visiting his mistress and secret love child at 2:40 this morning in a Los Angeles hotel by the NATIONAL ENQUIRER.
The married ex-senator from North Carolina - whose wife Elizabeth continues to battle cancer -- met with his mistress, blonde divorcée Rielle Hunter, at the Beverly Hilton on Monday night, July 21 - and the NATIONAL ENQUIRER was there! He didn't leave until early the next morning.
Rielle had driven to Los Angeles from Santa Barbara with a male friend for the rendezvous with Edwards. The former senator attended a press event Monday afternoon with L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on the topic of how to combat homelessness.
