Rasmussen: Obama's "Centrism" working as polling moves
dailykos.com — Rasmussen has new poll data out today which answers a big question here of late: Why is Obama moving to the center? His centrist policies on display the last two weeks are not new policies but rather the moderate side of the candidate in full display. And today, Rasmussen shows that this message is actually breaking through.

"You won't see Obama's massive lead amongst Moderate reported much because it cuts across every media Meme available; and the fact that Obama nearly doubles his get amongst Conservatives vs. McCain's get amonst Liberals is also significant. If that number holds/expands, Obama wins in November. And that's the danger of appearing increasingly liberal. Moderation, as evidenced by the poll shifts, is likely the best way to hold this advantage." - SheilaNoya, on 07/08/2008, -1/+10If we ever expect to unite this country again, then we need to have a president who is willing to represent all of us, not just 1/3 of us. Bush tried being a president of only the far right wingers and it has been HORRIBLE for this nation.
Obama is still a progressive, but that doesn't mean he should completely ignore the moderates and conservatives. We'll never get anything done if we can't find some common ground.- thirdcoastborn, on 07/08/2008, -2/+6finally someone with some sense.
- AgainstObama, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Obama is not a "centrist" or a "moderate". He can run to the center all he wants, but he's still a far-left liberal.
- AtHomeBoy2000, on 07/08/2008, -1/+6The GOP likes to push that he is supposedly the most liberal senator in the history of all history. But it's just not true, or at the least, he is more in line with the American public. If you look at polls, Obama is more in line with mainstream America than McCain is. Universal health Care, Green Energy, the Iraq War.... polls show Obama is in line with most Americans. i guess that makes Americans very liberal.... or maybe Obama is far more centrist than people thought he was.
- dBass, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3Sen. Obama is far from the "most liberal senator" as the repugs claim. Nevertheless, it's a line of attack expected. Glad to see Obama promulgate his long held centrist positions to counter the repug *****. And he consistently does it quickly. This is key; a major departure from Kerry in '04.
