- Rusty626, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1I grew up in the UU church of which Viola Liuzzo was connected. This is a horrifying memory for anyone who participated in the civil rights movement of the sixites. We cannot allow McCain to get away with claiming, as his surrogates do, that he's not responsible for the behavior of crowds at his or Palin's rallies. Of course, they're responsible!
- sal97527, on 10/13/2008, -0/+0Thank you for your comments, it i much appreciated. Were you a member of the UU downtown Detroit?
- stephenfox, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Outstanding article, should be sent all over the battelground states into every little racist nook and cranny, to help root out the cancer of racism!
- stephenfox, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Great article. I too encourage readers to forward it to states where it might make a real difference in this coming foregone conclusion of an election!!!
- StanleyKrute, on 10/14/2008, -0/+0I was 14 years old in 1965 when this terrible crime occurred. I was the kind of kid who read Newsweek and watched all the TV news broadcasts. I remember that time well, and this particular terrible murder.
My prayers and love go out to Sally for writing this; it must have been very difficult. When Barack is inaugurated in January, I'll be bawling my heart out, and people like her Mom will be one of the reasons.
Since they profess to be Christians, I recommend that Sen. McCain and (especially, since she revels in the attacks) Gov. Palin do a bit of prayer and reflection. They might start with the 9th Commandment: Thou shalt not bear false witness upon thy neighbor. Then they might want to spend some time re-reading the story of Jesus, and how the Romans whipped up hatred against Him.
