Poor Students Sacrificing Christmas cash for Ron Paul
jeffreyharmon.net — Back in September I donated to a politician for the first time in my life. I am a BYU student. I am poor. I am trying to help build a company. A few weeks ago my 1991 VW ’s engine blew up. I can’t afford a new car so I am moving about on foot. BUT tomorrow I am going to dump what ever extra money I can into the Ron Paul campaign in my support.

- marketguerilla, on 12/16/2007, -7/+17tomorrow is going to be a HUGE day. If you don't believe me, read this article, you will be donating yourself after reading it.
- Midoc, on 12/16/2007, -2/+5I read the article, wasn't really moved by the story of a poor person who donates all of their extra money to a politician. If anything he should be saving it.
- jeffreyharmon, on 12/16/2007, -1/+3Alright, here I am. I am the guy who wrote the post. I am NOT putting myself on the street. I DO save. I just decided this was as important as most things on my budget. It is a major sacrifice for me, but I have a job and I can afford it. It just means I have to sacrifice some other good things for something better—Freedom!
- Midoc, on 12/18/2007, -1/+1Christ, now I really hope you get put out on the street. And starve to death. And get eaten by rats. Seriously, you honestly think that you are sacrificing for freedom by donating to someone? ***** dude, if you're going to throw your money into a pot and hope for something good to come out, get some friends together and start a soup kitchen, or go buy new clothes to donate to the homeless. Free them from wondering where their next meal or jacket will come from. I certainly know that their lives could only get worse under Ron Paul.
- ringelman5, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Enough demeaning and hateful rhetoric, Midoc.
Why not explain WHY your assertion that life could only get worse is true. Without all the bull hockey, please.

- Spectre74, on 12/16/2007, -6/+10The fact he can inspire this type of action in people should be powerful enough to convince others to hear him out completely instead of categorizing him as dangerous, manipulative, or the leader of a "cult" following. A political "cult" sounds pretty goofy anyway.
- KMye, on 12/16/2007, -4/+6Most of his following is too young or politically ignorant to remember LaRouche. You guys are nothing new...
- Spectre74, on 12/17/2007, -0/+2Im older than you, perhaps ignorant.
- ringelman5, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1If you were born after 1950-1960 you probably have zero idea how much your thought processes have been molded to comply with all the Newthink / Newspeak in the print and electronic media.
Having been born on the trailing edge of the 1930's depression, I am witness to the changes that began even with the "Baby Boomers" and before. For your enlightenment:

Perhaps having investigated some, your sanctimonious attitude may be mitigated.
- ssn697, on 12/16/2007, -2/+8Oh, I heard him out all right. Went to his campaign website first. Since there was nothing but short blurbs with no substance there, I went on to his "library". That is where I found his church as the ruler, anti 14th amendment (yeah, follow the Constitution my ass), failure of a Gold Standard, name calling, John Birch society supporting, closet racist views.
It was really easy to eliminate him, along with Hillary and Huckabee, very quickly. I am old enough to have seen this before . The only difference is the Internet being involved this time, so it is easier to recruit the naive...- Spectre74, on 12/17/2007, -1/+2Okay. To each his own. I don't like ALOT of things about him either. I'm not sure that has anything to do with why they are voting for him though. I dont think they are naive, just trying to blow up everything with him as the warhead.
- ringelman5, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Scroll up.
- KMye, on 12/16/2007, -4/+6Most of his following is too young or politically ignorant to remember LaRouche. You guys are nothing new...
- reeder, on 12/16/2007, -5/+9I asked my girlfriend to donate instead of getting me a present. Not the same thing, but every bit helps. We have to end this nightmare of Republican Monsters and Democratic cowards. Somehow our political parties became collective manifestations of the worst aspects of humanity.
- Midoc, on 12/16/2007, -4/+7Are you serious? I certainly hope that you are intelligent enough to get her a real present, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you donated in her name for her present. Hopefully you'll be too busy crying over her dumping your stupid ass to notice that he didn't get the nomination. And then you can go to the Ron Paul support group that will certainly start up when that happens and write creative poetry about how donating money to his campaign was like your relationship, when you come down to it, you gave it your all and got nothing back. Years later they will find you offering to work in exchange for an old man to follow around like he ***** gold.
- KMye, on 12/16/2007, -2/+4Ditto Midoc; please tell us you didn't donate to his campaign in her name for her present, despite badly wanting to...
- ringelman5, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Since Midoc and KMye seem to be too absorbed in geriphobia to be able to think clearly, I would suggest ignoring their egocentric mindset and following your political conscience.
The memory of having supported a man of principle, Ron Paul, will endure long after some temporary bauble has long been lost, worn out or hocked.
And if you're fortunate enough to have found someone who understands that, then you're far ahead of the shallow bastards trying to dissuade you.
- bamapachyderm, on 12/16/2007, -15/+10I decided my family doesn't need to eat for the next month, plus we're sacrificing Christmas altogether! It's all worth it for the Reverend Doctor Saint L. Ron Paul Hubbard! Praise Dr. Paul! He will save us all! Amen!
- antipaul, on 12/16/2007, -4/+6And the lordith said 'Let there be a geriatric who saves them all! His Depends be filled to the brim and he shall talk of aliens, but he will run this economy like a slick wet seal!" I'm a scripture person, so I couldnt help but quote.. Paul 6:66
- Spectre74, on 12/16/2007, -3/+1Not the nicest thing to say, but funny...
- ringelman5, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Youth, as it is said, is wasted on the young.
Soon you will perhaps have reached the point where you realize that you are no longer young enough to know all there is to know.........
Ron Paul never said he was "here to save us all", that's your own feeble attempt at satire. He in fact makes it clear that his successful election would be only a beginning and that continued support and help would be necessary in returning this once great nation to its former stature and strength.
It is necessary only to look at the value (purchasing power) of today's dollar relative to that of 1913 to see that we have a looooooong way to go.

- spaceman84, on 12/16/2007, -3/+6Working full time I make less than $20k after taxes and this will be the second time I donate to Ron Paul this year. If I can afford it, so can everyone else.
- antipaul, on 12/16/2007, -4/+6Man you're really gonna be bummed when you have nothing to show for it. But maybe you can be all like "Well, maaaan, we tried but the MEDIA maaaaan, they were the REAL PROBLEM. It was a good run but maybe next year!" Something like that?
- Spectre74, on 12/16/2007, -7/+2You obviously smoke way too much weed.
- Spectre74, on 12/17/2007, -0/+2Sarcasm sucks on the intrernet. All of you burn in hell.
- KMye, on 12/16/2007, -3/+4***** the media; it was Bilderberg and the NWO!
- Spectre74, on 12/16/2007, -7/+2You obviously smoke way too much weed.
- chaosium, on 12/17/2007, -1/+1Ron Paul's abolishing of a Minimum Wage would push you further into poverty. You're not a captain of industry and never will be under Libertarian rule.
- ringelman5, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1I wondered where all the trolls were.
You guys just gravitate to anything Ron Paul or 9/11 oriented.
And obviously are more than willing to overlook that the "push" you mention is occurring rapidly right now at this moment under the Demopublicans and Republikrats. HOw hard is it to look at your 401k or IRA acct and figure out that when you take into account the actual value of the dollar you've been taking it up the wazoo?
As more and more jobs are exported, and more and more illegal immigration occurs to dilute the labor force and undercut the wage scale, the effect will only bemagnified.
FYI, Ron Paul espouses far more of the basic priciples that the Republican party have collectively abandoned in their pursuit of globalist agendas.

thats funny, you just described me in a nutshell... BYU students for Ron Paul! - reed311, on 12/16/2007, -3/+7Well, I take back everything I've said. It looks like Ron Paul was right. Poor people are poor because of their stupid choices.
- Braxo, on 12/16/2007, -3/+4I donated the first time ever to any candidate. I'm a Democrat from New York (and laws say I had to switch party months ago to vote in our Primary unfortunately). But I'm a college student who didn't go drinking this weekend after finals and instead donated the drinking money to Ron Paul's campaign today.
- matt850, on 12/16/2007, -5/+3Hmm..do I want to give more unnecessary money to Ron Paul or do I want to continue to try to survive on low funds? Oh well even though I might have to declare bankruptcy, at least Ron Paul has some extra money that still won't help him win.
- ringelman5, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Your sarcasm is exceeded only by your negativity.
