Patrick, Obama campaigns share language of hope - Boston Globe April 2007
boston.com — From APRIL 2007 -- Of all the things Deval Patrick's Republican opponent threw at him in last year's governor's race, one charge that stuck in his craw was that his speeches were more fluff than substance -- that they were, in Patrick's telling, "just words." So he devised an artful response. Notice the date... read the article... be informed.

- kroses, on 02/19/2008, -1/+5No desperate last minute shenanigans by Clinton or her minions, will save her!!! Obama's the winner, for now and for always!!!
- curtislwalker, on 02/19/2008, -1/+5The MSM once again ran with a CLINTON press release, hook, line and sinker? Whatever happened to doing research before you run to print? The entire news media needs to wake up and understand we know what they are up to and don't be surprised if they show up, or better yet, the sponsors of their horrible attempt to make news, will wind up on a boycott list somewhere. There is power in the grassroots! A lesson they may learn soon!

Evidently the only ones who thought it was news were the ratings-hungry networks who have bought into the misconception that time they spend tearing somebody else down somehow builds the spender up at the same time. - HipsterSarah, on 02/19/2008, -1/+5So, I wonder if the media is going to start scrutinizing Hillary's speeches, oh wait, no probably not, they don't even fact check the info. she says in her policy speeches, nor do they bother researching Obama's stance on the issues, even though it is on his website.
- reaper527, on 02/19/2008, -2/+1i don't know why anyone would affiliate themself with mr. "Together We Can" (Together We Can What? deval campaigned on change, but didn't say what he wanted to change. apparently "Together We Can Raise Taxes")
- NoDrama, on 02/20/2008, -0/+2Actually, together we can get bills passed, despite naysayers.
I'll mostly summarize to save time and space. During the first (8) eight years of his elected service Barack Obama sponsored over 820 bills, including:
233 regarding healthcare reform,
125 on poverty and public assistance,
112 crime fighting bills,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.
His first year in the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included:
The Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law),
The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, (became law),
The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,
The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, (became law),
The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, (In committee), and many more.
I'm not suggesting others can't be a damn fine President. And like those financial prospectus warnings, past performance doesn't necessarily predict future outcomes - but I'm more impressed with the productive, often bi-partisan Obama "lack" of substance, myself.- reaper527, on 02/21/2008, -0/+1i wasn't commenting about baracks accomplishments, i was saying deval ran on a "together we can" slogan, and hasn't done *****. my point was that i don't see why barack would want to affiliate himself with deval.
to comment on barack though, he is a bit to liberal for my personal liking, however so are hillary and mccain. i'll end up voting for whoever i decide to be the lesser of two evils on election day.
