- dantrenner, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1It has come time in this election to realize that ONE candidate cuts across party and religious lines. He is Ron Paul. - BisonHunter, on 12/20/2007, -0/+18Chuck Baldwin was the Vice Presidential candidate for the Constitution Party http://www.constitutionparty.com
- LucianSolaris, on 12/20/2007, -3/+20Not all Christians are nuts. This one went with libertarian-principled Paul, instead of that anti-AIDS, anti-medical cannabis Huckelberr^H^H^H^H^H^Habee.
- almonds646, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1how is being anti-AIDS bad? Should we wish for AIDS? Do you inject yourself with AIDS? Are you pro-AIDS?
I think you may have phrased that in a silly manner.
- almonds646, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1how is being anti-AIDS bad? Should we wish for AIDS? Do you inject yourself with AIDS? Are you pro-AIDS?
- TheTaoOfBill, on 12/20/2007, -3/+26Chuck Baldwin is one of the real Christians out there. The ones that actually practice what they preach. Simply saying you are a Christian like Huckabee does is not enough. Unless you actively try to better yourself in the way Christ wanted you to then you are not a Christian.
Christians don't go out looking for people to kill. Christians find non violent solutions to even the most violent of problems. Christians respect others and do not judge them for the choices they make in life.
Ron Paul is a great Christian and yet he has the good sense to not run as the Christian candidate. Why? Because he respects our freedoms too much to try to force his beliefs on others. And that is how all Christians should be. Lead by example and not by force.- israelanderson, on 12/20/2007, -2/+13I can't believe people are voting down your comment. Logic and reason and truth are like the plague to some people I guess.
- ncairns, on 12/20/2007, -13/+4"Because he respects our freedoms too much to try to force his beliefs on others. "
No, actually. He doesn't.
http://www.thetalentshow.org/2007/08/09/ron-paul-s ...
http://www.traditionalvalues.org/modules.php?sid=2 ...
So, to recap, he's a fundamentalist Christian who doesn't believe in the separation of church and state or evolution and doesn't want THE SUPREME COURT to be able to overrule unconstitutional state policies regarding religion, abortion and sexual orientation.
In other words - he's an *****. A stupid *****.- katie212, on 12/20/2007, -4/+7Namecalling? hmmm...is a last resort when one isnot winning a debate, which by the way...you aren't and won't.
- ncairns, on 12/20/2007, -4/+4Nope - namecalling is mostly something you do when someone deserves to be called a name. I know, though, that the etymology of the term is elusive and beguiling, so you might want to look to George Carlin for confirmation on that.
If, for instance, someone wants to impose their morality on me by attempting to dissolve the longstanding convention of separation of church and state, a good thing to call them would be '*****.'
Likewise, when someone rejects a demonstrable scientific truth such as evolution, you might want to use an adjective implicative of some intellectual deficiency. Stupid, perhaps.
By way of the transitive property, we arrive at the full moniker - stupid *****.
I do hope this has been informative for you, but at any rate your presumption that this is a debate is misguided. Ron Paul does not believe in the separation of church and state. He also does not believe in evolution. Thus, it's not so much a matter of opinion as a logical conclusion that he is stupid and an *****. Besides, Ron Paul doesn't matter to any debate anyway. - card51short, on 12/20/2007, -1/+3"namecalling is mostly something you do when someone deserves to be called a name. "
Oh yeah? well you're a poo poo head !- ncairns, on 12/20/2007, -1/+1See, now that's really just unfounded.
Nowhere have I led you to believe either that I have a head or that it is made of poop.
Try harder next time. Really. - almonds646, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1'Nowhere have I led you to believe either that I have a head'
agreed! at least, anything more than an empty one :)
- ncairns, on 12/20/2007, -1/+1See, now that's really just unfounded.

- TheTaoOfBill, on 12/20/2007, -4/+4Christians have freedoms too ncairns. Just because we are in the majority doesn't mean we should stop celebrating our religion and wishing people Merry Christmas or having Christmas festivals on government property. The constitution stands for freedom or religion not separation of church and state. It stands for no limits on when and where you can celebrate your religion. This ***** that people can't have a simple Christmas tree on public property is getting out of hand. It's a harmless holiday. If you don't celebrate it I don't see why you have to attempt to destroy it for people who do.
- ssn697, on 12/20/2007, -4/+5So I should be able to go to city hall, and have a satanic worship ceremony on city hall's steps then, right?
- TheTaoOfBill, on 12/20/2007, -2/+4Well. As long as you aren't breaking any laws I don't see a problem with that. Though I can't imagine you being able to find a community with enough satanists to hold significant ritual that would require a community center like the city hall. But if you can find enough people more power to you. That's what freedom is all about.
- ssn697, on 12/20/2007, -2/+3So, to summarize, you have no problem using your hard earned dollars to support someone else? Your tax dollars can go for this type of stuff?
But, when it is health care for the poor, why are we using your money? That is your story? - card51short, on 12/20/2007, -2/+4"So, to summarize, you have no problem using your hard earned dollars to support someone else? Your tax dollars can go for this type of stuff?"
Go towards what stuff? What would we be paying for if you were doing satanic rituals? - TheTaoOfBill, on 12/20/2007, -3/+2I have no problem with a city using tax payer money to sponsor community events to bring the city closer together. Tax payer money goes to pay for a lot of city wide community events. I don't support federal government doing the same thing but a local community should be able to celebrate whatever the community feels is worth celebrating.
- almonds646, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1'I don't support federal government doing the same thing but a local community should be able to celebrate whatever the community feels is worth celebrating.'
Theft at any level is wrong, and I'm sure you'd be upset if the satanic rituals mentioned by ssn697 were funded by your tax dollars. Did you know that a significant portion of Christians (I am one) are opposed to celebrating Christmas as it is founded on pagan rituals? Is it moral to coerce them to pay for these public displays? No, it is not.
Is it wrong for somebody to DONATE a Christmas tree or nativity scene? Not at all, and for that to be displayed on public property shouldn't be a problem. But to coerce another into funding it is wrong.
God Bless!
- ncairns, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2The fact that you prop up your broken worldview with similarly broken interpretations of the Constitution, such as that you can assemble wherever you want or can, as you no doubt also believe, say whatever you want, helps to reinforce my assertion that Ron Paul supporters - while maybe having read The US Constitution for Dummies - have absolutely no grasp on legal precedence in specific and intent in general.
- ssn697, on 12/20/2007, -4/+5So I should be able to go to city hall, and have a satanic worship ceremony on city hall's steps then, right?
- TheTaoOfBill, on 12/20/2007, -5/+3We used to have a Christmas tree lighting festival every year at our city hall. It was great fun. Santa came and the kids got to ask for presents. And we all drank hot cocoa and sang carols until they lit a giant 50 foot pine tree and we all cheered. Now we don't do that anymore because of idiots like you who are hell bent on ruining everything nice that comes out of religion and that brings a community together just because you don't want to be a part of it. I respect your choice not to be a part of christianity. Respect my choice to be a part of it and celebrate it with my community.
- ssn697, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6Celebrate it at your house, with your community of friends. I personally have nothing against the pretend Christian holiday of Christmas, but why do you have to force feed it to others, using public property?
Why is it okay to use taxpayer funds when it suits you?- TheTaoOfBill, on 12/20/2007, -6/+1Because it's our right to! We have the right to assemble and celebrate our religion whereever we want to. That's what the constitution says. And if the community wants to get together at the center of the community like the city hall or a school to celebrate that religion that's their right as Americans. No one is forcing you to do anything by putting up a christmas tree.
- ssn697, on 12/20/2007, -1/+5You do not have the right to celebrate on public grounds that I pay for, just as you would be the first in line if I was having a Satanic celebration on the same public property.
I notice you didn't answer THAT question... - ssn697, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5No health care for the poor, because it is illegal for the government to "take" your money, but it is just fine for the government to take my money so you can have a Christmas celebration on the taxpayers dime, using public property I pay for?
If that is your argument, why are you supporting Ron Paul? Never mind for a moment that "Christmas" is a pagan holiday, not a Christian holiday (yeah, you are "celebrating" a pagan holiday. Check the history), Ron Paul says the government shouldn't be using "our" money this way. Yet you see it as a good thing. Don't you even get that? - TheTaoOfBill, on 12/20/2007, -2/+2We're talking two different tax systems here. I'd be fine with a state deciding to have a healthcare program or if there was a satanic community (I doubt there is) I wouldn't mind satanic rituals being done on public ground as long as no laws are broken.
States and local communities have that right.
I don't like this stuff on a federal level but I see nothing wrong with it at a state level.
Just a town over has jewish festivals on occation because most of the community is jewish there. I really don't see a problem with that. I support freedom of religion and I support community taxes going to pay for things that make the community stronger.
- ssn697, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6Celebrate it at your house, with your community of friends. I personally have nothing against the pretend Christian holiday of Christmas, but why do you have to force feed it to others, using public property?

- ncairns, on 12/20/2007, -9/+4Uh oh, I'm a fascist now?
Funny, Ron Paul supporters variously accuse me of being either fascistic or socialistic, which really helps to prove my "Ron Paul supporters have, like, literally you guys, literally I'm not even joking I'm serious here NO idea what either fascism or socialism are, but it sure is funny as ***** watching them try to figure it out by throwing them both against the wall and seeing what sticks" theory.
By the by - over 95% of all Ron Paul stories have been buried as spam. I think you're the ones being 'defeated constantly'. - ssn697, on 12/20/2007, -3/+5Wait a minute. He is a fascist now?!?! Last week, the RonBots called him a commie (apparently the ad hom of the week), and a socialist two weeks ago.
Are you guys just cycling through the "learn how to spell a political ideology" book?
- ncairns, on 12/20/2007, -9/+4Uh oh, I'm a fascist now?
- ncairns, on 12/20/2007, -9/+4Nope - I'm an American living in Australia.
Thanks for playing the "being an American gives me some innate knowledge of the Constitution those ruddy foreigennerrss can't even begin to fathom" game though.
Makes you look like a dumb prick, but the payoff - making you look like a dumb *ethnocentric* prick - is surely redeeming. - ncairns, on 12/20/2007, -9/+3HAHAHAHA, oh wait oh man this is too good:
"I am from New Zealand."

Well, I guess since I'M the REAL, NATIVE American, and you're the Kiwi shepherd, you should probably go ahead and take your cues on the US Constitution from me, my former neighbor-to-the-southeast.

Present tense = dig
Past tense = dug
Now just add another 'g' on the end of either as needed and you'll be all set!
But, truly, well done. Making a complete assclown of yourself inside the first three words of your post is a trying feat, but one to which you've obviously aspired and at which you've arrived.
Good show.
The fact is, as I thought I had already made clear, you have absolutely no idea what fascism is. You also, as I also thought I had made clear, have absolutely no idea what socialism is. Bandying them about in a frail absurdist attempt run at relevance and feigned intellect calls to mind images from The Sorcerer's Apprentice, only instead of mops, you're trying to end a relentless parade of dumb, trying to keep it at bay with a hefty arsenal of misused catchphrases and hollow anachronism like 'jeffersonian' punctuated abruptly and needlessly with pithy misplaced elipses serving chiefly to underscore the veritable symphony of stupid.

And yet that's exactly the way so many of them act towards Christians. Can't see the forest for the trees.
- cashman57, on 12/20/2007, -2/+5I have to laugh at ncairns and his mission of intolerance and misinformation. The fact is Ron Paul is the sole hope for moving America forward. If we elect another idiot we will see a total economic collapse if it does not happen this year. Bear-Stearns lost money for the first time. They blame the subprime credit crunch but it is even deeper than that as terrible banking practices have ler to record losses. Look for a bank bailout plan from the government if someone other than Ron Paul is elected.
Remember the losses from the S&L meltdown? That will look like a drop in the bucket. The other candidates have yet to address the massive inflation and loss of dollar value against other currencies and commodities. They are trying to pretend it isn't a problem. - bono4u, on 12/20/2007, -2/+4For myself it wouldn't be a matter of religion supporting Ron Paul but a matter of reason. I am from Germany and i think he would be good for the people of the USA. As he is not so strongly linked to corporations and could be for that reason a president of the people, not the corporations. I also think it is good to make friends by fair trade agreements with other countries. The only thing i am a bit unsure about is if it is really needed to quit all alliances, which could result in instabilities. The alliances with European countries led to a till then unknown stability, where all Europeans have earned peace and prosperity. I don't want the USA to police the world, that would rather be a job for a strong UN in consent with the USA and all other nations and that only then if there are mass-murders dictatorships. Nevertheless you have made alliances and so you have a responsibility. Since you invaded Iraq there is also a responsibility for this country, but in difference to Europe, the people over there have the feeling it is more like an occupation then to be freed by the friendly hegemon.
I wish the American people all the best and a wise president. - Look4Truth, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Baldwin is awesome. He's one of the few true Christian pastors out there that actually gets it. Too bad most Christians are still sleeping.
