- jerrym123, on 10/04/2008, -2/+2The Republicans are up to their old smear tactics again. The lying bitch and McCain do not know what they will open up with this discredited attack. If they want the gloves to come off than so be it it is time to start spreading the truth to all Americans about McCain involvement with Keating five, Was McCain programed by KGB while a POW?, Vietnam vets against McCain, John McCain cheats on wife while she was injured in car accident, Cindy McCain is/was a drug addict, Palin cheated on husband with husbands business partner, Palin cheats on her taxes, Palin trooper gate, McCain calls evangelical Christians delusional kooks. Google it and start spreading it to everyone you know.
- crombenevolant, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2How is this is a "smear". Obama has repeatedly confirmed his association with Ayers saying the man he knows is a good man. The fact that Ayers was in the weather underground and participated in bombings in which people were killed is not in doubt (Ayers admits and is proud of it). In fact if the FBI had not flubbed his case he would be in prison. Ayers has, within the last 12 months, publicly stated his hatred of the American government and his wish that he had bombed more. Obama has not only worked with this man (which could be out of his control), but been to his house and held joint events with him. Ayers even held a fundraiser for Obama. There is a legitimate relationship here.
So knowing that Ayers is an admitted terrorist, and has a relationship beyond simple acquaintance with Obama; the question is what does this say about Barrack and his judgement? This is the man that could be President. It is important that we ask these questions about him and all candidates. Anyone who is so caught up in fervor for one candidate that they are unwilling to look at anything that might put that candidate in a bad light is really doing their country a disservice by not making the most informed choice they can.- hansmuff, on 10/05/2008, -1/+1Well, you are right in that the relatioinship should be examined and weighed. I totally agree.
What I am struggling with is that every politician out there has questionable relationships, it seems to be the only way to actually climb the ladder.
Can you really say (being truthful here) that there is a candidate who is entirely clean, and otherwise equipped to run for president? I don't know one. McCain has his set of strange associations (K5 and others). Even Hillary and her fundraising efforts were dirty and covered up.
I start to see these temporary, strange associations as the evil neccessary to make it up the political ladder. Not pretty, and not what I like, but it's what I believe.
Much like the flip-flopping on both sides, which is a neccessary evil to distract people and shift focus. It is called lying, they both do it (although recently, McCain really is out of control on that IMO).
It's sad, it's not the right thing, but I don't see it go away.
I don't blindly condone Ayers, not at all. But the weighing of that relationship is not trivial. And what I dislike is how people generally give that no thought, but can only blindly repeat what they heard on AM radio in the morning.
So let's ask the questions and dig for actual facts and information. I'm all for it. If you have some good links on the topic, why not just post them here? I'll read em. - crombenevolant, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1I agree and think we are trying to point to the same path. My issue here is the blind sheep on either side of the aisle. They bleat out what ever they are told to say, and if anyone asks a question they don't like they just start bleating so loud that no one else can talk (I couldn't help but throw a little Animal Farm in there). This is a very serious decision and we should really be looking hard at every candidate and fully vetting every inconsistent thing and then pick who would lead the country the best. Instead sheople look for the D or R and have their mind made up for them...

A man chose her, not a woman
More women support Obama/Biden than McCain/Palin - hansmuff, on 10/05/2008, -0/+0Well, now we know what your view on women is. Clearly, I hope they are all smart enough to stay far away from you.
And the women I know all would, they happen to be intelligent.
Cripes, you give men a bad name.

- JenniferInMO, on 10/05/2008, -2/+1These loose, connections have been used by hatemonger since the primary election and anything other than the distant connections stated above have been fully debunked over and over by several nonpartisan sources. The fact that Palin mentions it now is an indication that she and McCain are desperate and have nothing to offer.
McCain/Palin cannot win on the issues so they turn to theatrics, lies and fearmongering in an attempt to flare latent racial bias. At a time when our country is facing economic meltdown, an energy crisis and still dealing with 2 wars and a trail of foreign policy blunders these two are trying to dredge up racial hatred and divide us further. Their "Country First" slogan is a joke and they are using their base like pawns. These two are disgusting. - hansmuff, on 10/05/2008, -1/+0.. and that's how you spell DESPERATION.
Oh, the promise of a clean campaign. The wheels are falling off the straight lie express and it is a pleasure to see the GOP flailing about. Next: Obama accepts donations from the terrorists who love him! Watch, that's next.
Since the gloves are off, apparently, let's all rejoice in Palin's demise when her criminal acts are uncovered on the 10th. When everybody will see what an unprofessional, hateful woman you really are. No more winky winky then. Say it ain't so, Sarah!
