Alaska isn't exactly part of the mainland US culture, so it's possible they use that hand gesture in a negative way also. It would match her facial expression more than a peace sign, and I am not sure how often her Republican parents go around flashing the peace sign to people. If any of the 5 people in Alaska who read Digg would like to chime in on the reverse peace sign, please do.

A pregnant daughter (or a crazy cover-up), a son who does drugs, a little girl who misbehaves in public - these are definitely not out of the ordinary and nothing to be ashamed of, although it sounds like they could all use a little more parental guidance. But for Christ's sake, just don't act like it's wrong when -other- people do it and forgivable when it's your own family.

      Politicians consistently parade their families around and use them as props for photo ops. Of course, whenever something negative is said about a family member we hear how the media is "dragging family" into the race.

      Don't get me wrong, I totally disapprove of attacking a candidates family, it's just that I realize that the candidates themselves are usually responsible for dragging them into the race in the first place.
