      In Mcain's defense - he looked at existing data showing that gender = vote with 100% accuracy for men thus far. So naturally he assumed it would hold true for women too.

      He also noted that white people voted among racial lines for the president 100% of the time, while surprisingly, black people also voted for white people 100% of the time, a statistic he's banking on pretty heavily for this election. It's his ace in the hole!

      And again, Women's rights goes beyond just abortion. It shouldn't be a litmus test for feminism because at its heart its a moral, not ideological issue.

      Love or hate either party or their candidates, I find it infuriating how people can comment with posh confidence that they "knew it", when they obviously didn't read the article or are willing to completely ignore everything they know about statistics and sampling when it suits their view.

      Digg is supposed to be a place where techy, and somewhat smarter, yes often geeky or nerdy can hang out and see through the garbage put out there by the MSM. Well Sir, that day has come to an end. Digg has become about as mature as a My Little Pony themed page on MySpace.

If the VP were important, Bush/Quayle and Clinton/Gore would have been a lost cause. Quayle went into hiding after his VP stint and Gore couldn't even win his home state in the 2000 Presidential race. Says a lot for the quality of VP choices all the way around. Definitely says people don't view the VP as very important on the ticket. And I love how everyone assumes McCain picked her to somehow grab all the Hillary voters. Anyone who wanted to vote for McCain after Hillary got dissed by Obama is still voting McCain. McCain was doing three things with Palin: 1) Energize the Republican base. She has accomplished that. 2) Target a large block of independent and undecided voters. The results of that will be seen on November 4th. 3) Reinforce his maverick stance as one for change. He has done that.

        Ultimately, he is showing he is about changing Washington. On "Meet The Press" this morning, McCain stated he would appoint the brightest and best to his cabinet, irrespective of party affiliation. He said he would also ask those who are truly rich to serve for $1 a year. I agree whole heartedly to that as the grid lock in Washington is not going to be broken unless our elected officials start reaching across the aisle.

        Polling sources are saying it appears weekend polling results being released tomorrow are going to show McCain has pulled ahead of Obama by 6 or 7 points, on his convention bounce.
