- BishkekBuddy, on 10/07/2008, -13/+141I'm beginning to understand just why she has turned into a completely insane, rabid dog - she's totally freaked at the thought of having to go home to face the citizens of Alaska now that her pathetic lies and misdeeds are being uncovered by the national spotlight.....
- poprocksandsoda, on 10/08/2008, -29/+4Keep telling yourself that. Your words indicate someone who may have fallen into a deep schizotypal state. Take a quick look at the wording you've used:
From your post:
"completely insane, rabid dog" ... "totally freaked" ... "pathetic lies and misdeeds" ...
I'm not sure how the elected Governor of a State, who is now a candidate for the second most powerful post in the world ... who has neither been convicted or proven by any tangible evidence, could possibly be the related to your words. You may be projecting yourself onto this figure of authority as a way to compensate for your lack of work, intelligence, small penis ... the reasons just go on forever.
Either way, you're an idiot and you make no sense. Only the pro-pot, brainless masses of the extreme Left here on Digg could possibly agree with your asinine assessment of Palin.
Please move to a small island off the Coast of Uruguay (there are several islands there you'd find worthy). This country would be better with you living as close to the South Pole as possible.- Andrwmorph, on 10/08/2008, -0/+13You betcha!
/wink - poprocksandsoda, on 10/08/2008, -14/+1My favorite catch phrase is Obama saying "I agree with Senator McCain ...". I've heard this so much my head is getting dizzy
- bodisatvah, on 10/08/2008, -0/+8You can agree with someone on the importance of an issue but disagree on how to address it. That is how Obama always says "I agree with Senator McCain."
Die quickly, please. - bman1984, on 10/08/2008, -0/+9No no no bodisatvah, you are doing it wrong. You have to fundamentally disagree with your opponent on every aspect, no matter what.
Sarcasm aside, anybody who thinks that this woman is fit to lead Alaska, much less America is nothing short of insane. - djholybolt, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3wow... I never thought that to this day there was someone as dumb as you, poprocksandsoda. But you proved me wrong. To even think of defending that woman you would have to be. You are truely the most ignorant ***** known to man.
- winwardsoul, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1to djholybolt
you sir are dense. first of all, isn't Obama supposed to disagree with McCain. isn't that the "change we can believe in" defending someone who is not guilty is not stupid. it's the way our courts are supposed to work. remeber the whole "innocent until proven guilty" that our country was founded on. just because the comunnist news network and the rest of the obama-mania media accuse her of something doesn't make it truth.
stop believeing everything you hear and dig for some facts. pick up a copy of "the Obama Nation" or even "the Audacity of Deceit" and if for no other reason than to actually understand what is really being said about Obama.
but than again, i can't be believed because i am a idiot as well right. i am conservative and we are what's wrong with this country. we caused the recession instead of the democratic congress. we voted for bush and now are trying to cram 4 more years of bush down your throat. - poprocksandsoda, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1djholybolt, get your head out of the glory hole long enough to learn something about reality before you start picking on people like myself. If you're stupid enough to believe the propoganda from the left then you certainly are almost beyong hope. What I suggest you do is examine a piece of simple rhetoric from the Left. In the last debate Obama did two things you should be aware of:
1. He talked about the Peace Corp.
Why?
Because older voters will remember Kennedy doing the same thing in his debate against Nixon.
http://fp.okstate.edu/vestal/InternationalStudy/Pe ...
It's a way to appeal to people by casting the light of JFK on himself. The irony is, JFK is the President who gave the CIA approval to put together a kill list including doctors, teachers, politicians, etc. in Iraq ... fund the killing of them ... which eventually led to the rise of Saddam.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_F._Kennedy#Iraq
2. Obama criticized Bush for after 9/11 telling people to shop.
Why? To make it seem like Bush likes to spend.
The reality ... commerce is critical to the economic well-being of any nation. It's the very essence of stability. The very thing Obama wants to incite ... he's criticizing because it's convienent. - djholybolt, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1lol @ poprocksandsoda and his cronie winwardsoul.
Guess what. I am not voting Obama you retards, he has hands deep in his pockets too. I'm writing RP on my ticket and don't give a ***** what anyone says because he's who i feel represents my views on the government.
You asshats get wrapped up in the people who are chosen by the massively stupid. There's a couple million people out there that actually have their heads out of their asses to find someone who represents what this nation is supposed to be. It's a shame that it's just that couple million and not the whole nation.

So if the huffingtonpost articles about the Palin 'baby swap' were all bogus, and the huffingtonpost articles about Palin's 'affair' were all bogus .... then why in the world would ANY huffingtonpost articles end up on digg's front page?

She's sleeping around with the "first dude" of the AIG- she's at the very least a sympathizer (check out the videos). They don't really like us Americans down here in the lower 48, very much. Furthermore, she's popular eith the republican base - preaching to the choir in other words. However, some important members of the base don't approve of her, and a few have even deserted! In addition, McCain's guilt by association is so thick- it needs it's own directory.
- MadKennyP, on 10/08/2008, -1/+1She is quite a marvel in the manner in which she dodges and hides from reporters. Marvelous!
- greenvortex, on 10/08/2008, -2/+7It was quite a marvel that she spent $50,000 in city funds to redecorate the Wasilla mayor's office, without getting the town council's approval.
- handy7390, on 10/08/2008, -9/+1Is she and I the only Americans working from home? And NaturalHealer....Why do you think that is that she won't go on the Today Show? I am sure since you hater her, it must be for negative reasons.
- rjejr, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5It's not that's she's getting paid for working at home dumb@ss, it's that she's getting paid for working at home while also collecting a per diem which is typically reserved for traveling expenses - so she's getting paid for traveling to her home.
- lazerus9, on 10/08/2008, -8/+2Gee!...I wonder whom Ariana Huffington is voting for?
- vidkid, on 10/08/2008, -2/+1Wow, the IRS even screws the government. More evidence that the tax law is way too complicated and should be restructured.
- Wryly, on 10/08/2008, -0/+7Her filing cabinet must be overflowing with folders marked: Maverick.
- MuddyBulldog, on 10/08/2008, -0/+12I saw something on TV yesterday that made reference to Palin and her husband having made $160K last year (or something like that). I think it was a reference to how she understands "real Americans" because she's one of them but I wasn't paying full attention. I did however say out loud, to no one in particular, "yeah, but does that include her per diem?"
Guess someone heard me. - pvaras, on 10/08/2008, -12/+1Ok.. I get it: The Huff Post and Digg hate Sarah Palin. Now, don't get me wrong. I am not a fan of hers, and I think that she is just as shady as the rest of the politions out there, and completely unqualified to be so close to the top spot.
But, really? every day there are multiple posts from Huffington on Digg about how terrible she is. I understand.- buddyfarr, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3well if she would stop doing ***** that makes a new report every god damn day then it would not be on the news every god damn day. If this ***** is true then it should be on the news every god damn day until everyone understands that she is a tard and should not be voted for. If it is not true then the reporter should be shot and that should be on the news.....then we move on. :)
- pvaras, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Fair enough. I guess I won't be happy until the election year is over and we can concentrate on more important things. You know, like top ten lists, Microsoft/Yahoo rumors, and Cracked articles :-)

- bjs3171, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3It's ok, there's always 4 years from now, for McCain to win. Though, I'm not sure he'd be a much better debater at 96 years old.
Btw, it's "do", not "does". Do they teach grammar in Iowa? - David1752, on 10/08/2008, -0/+0'Friend' would be a stretch in this case.

- axpdocbrown, on 10/08/2008, -3/+5Not to sound like an ass but like...no one here has heard of Telecommuting? Working from your home office? Saving gas so you don't have to drive to work? There are whole sections of this country now that telecommute every Friday just to save money.
So the woman worked from home some days...so what? She wasn't at home hitting the bong watching the Matrix...she was doing work.
I mean the $60 a day can go towards a lot of expenses that would otherwise be covered working out of an office. Shoot i have some contractors that work for me that we pay $100 bucks per diem a day for expenses on top of what they make W-2.
Now...her not declairing that information on her tax return is a totally different issue...- buddyfarr, on 10/08/2008, -4/+3uh per diem is used for travelling away from your home, not for staying in it. sorry give the money back please. NEXT.
- axpdocbrown, on 10/08/2008, -3/+4Dude you don't know what the hell your talking about. It's for WORK EXPENSES.
For example, i have an employee who does graphic design. He gets $40 per diem on top of an hourly rate. The per diem is for expenses he incurs for leasing a specific design program we need him to use for our format, for expensing a high volume of telephone calls he needs to make nationally and internationally...And he works from home.
Thanks for the wise ass response, but try actually knowing a thing or two before opening your mouth.
- axpdocbrown, on 10/08/2008, -3/+4Dude you don't know what the hell your talking about. It's for WORK EXPENSES.
- cquinnd, on 10/08/2008, -1/+4Most people don't get paid extra for Telecommuting. The whole idea is that the money and time saved from not having to drive to work is considered the benefit.
Telecommuting can work well if your job depends on your being on the phone or working thru a computer for a large part of the day, but a Mayor/Govenors job deals predominantly with meeting other people in face to face contexts.
If this were the case, why doesn't the McCain campaign point out that Palin is obviously more tech-savvy than Obama in this regard? And why has she never made mention of the practice to other Govenors (or in the campaign) as a method of fiscal efficiency? - jimrin, on 10/08/2008, -1/+3While you may feel $60 per day is reasonable, remember that you have to multiply by 4.5 to also add in the amount she charged for her AND her family...
- axpdocbrown, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Well wait, now your confusing two different things. The per Diem payments had nothing to do with her kids. (that being that $60 a day)
She however expensed Travel and other expenses relative to her kids according to this article (which lets face it, the Huffington Post isn't always...accurate). And logically speaking, those family expenses probably had nothing to do with being a "business expense." If this is true frankly i can't imagine in a million years what purpose having her kids around her at work would have, and certianly i don't know why the tax payers would be resonsible for that.
So if there is legitimacy to this article...she owes someone some money. But not for the Per Diem stuff, more for the expenses by the sounds of it. - jimrin, on 10/08/2008, -1/+4You are correct in that the articles refer to her family's expenses as "travel expenses". Considering that these are Alaska reimbursed expenses, one would imagine these trips are mainly for trips within Alaska (but without seeing the details, I am only speculating). Since most of her trips in Alaska have been to Wasilla, then this implies Alaskan taxpayers have been paying for her family trips down to Wasilla.
As I quoted separately in an LA Times article:
"The IRS likely also will want details about $43,490 the state paid Palin over 20 months for family travel, including commercial airline tickets the state bought for some of her children to join the governor. Bingham said taxpayers must show a specific business purpose for the state reimbursement, some actual work or duty performed for the expense."
So a lot of people are wondering about these "expenses"...
- axpdocbrown, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Well wait, now your confusing two different things. The per Diem payments had nothing to do with her kids. (that being that $60 a day)
- MediaWeasel, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Remember too the fuss there was by the McCain campaign because of the deadline imposed by the IRS. They wanted a couple of extra weeks, I think it was.
The Mccain camp were saying oh but look we need more information as she's standing for VP and it isn't straightforward. However by this stage she had already been on the ticket for five weeks and you cannot tell me that someone's accountant cannot put together the detailed accounts needed within five weeks - unless they weren't straightforward, of course.. which is presumably why the per diems are a mystery, as are some back taxes she owes, her expenses .. etc
- buddyfarr, on 10/08/2008, -4/+3uh per diem is used for travelling away from your home, not for staying in it. sorry give the money back please. NEXT.

- brainflakes, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1She collected nearly $17,000 during that period for 312 nights spent in her Wasilla home about an hour's drive from Anchorage, according to state travel records.
2 hour round trip, at today's gas prices that's probably not far off! - Hillsfar, on 10/08/2008, -2/+8Boy I wish I could be paid to sleep in my own bed. Wake up in my own bedroom. Eat state-paid-for food in my own kitchen, watch TV in my own living room... in addition to earning my regular salary.
- DarkRellik, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Dude, I just realized.. Isn't THAT the American dream? Hasn't she finally realized what it's like to finally be there in a point in life and say "we've made it. kids, this... IS... AMERICA!!!" =*) Just brings a tear to my eye.
- Neo829, on 10/08/2008, -5/+4"The income tax aspects of fringe benefits are complex and highly technical, and not subject to second-guessing by laymen," Olsen wrote in a three-page letter outlining his review of the returns.
That won't stop diggers, though, will it?- MrSquirrel, on 10/08/2008, -2/+4You are quoting the tax attorney who was hired by the Palins. Of course he would say something like that.
Isn't it amazing, incidentally, that this tax question is so "complex and highly technical", that us ordinary folk just can't be expected to understand it?
