- sjsuarez, on 09/23/2008, -0/+10"According to the CNN producer who was let into Karzai's hotel suite with the photographers just before noon, Karzai was talking about his son. Palin was nodding, and asked what his name is. Karzai replied his name was Mirwais and explained that it means light of the house."
Maybe we may find out whether Henry Kissinger played hockey as a kid, or if Alvaro Uribe knows how to field dress a jaguar! Spray on!
I'm NOT impressed with this lady.
The media were escorted out after about 40 seconds.
Let's not forget what happened before CNN's producer was "approved":
Tracey Schmitt said it was all just a “miscommunication.” Earlier, she had said, “The decision was made for this to be a photo spray with still cameras and video cameras only.”
A photo “spray”? Is that what happens when the decision to ban the press hits the fan? - CaptObvious, on 09/23/2008, -0/+9Dugg for the obvious sarcasm.
- cattletracks, on 09/23/2008, -0/+7George Carlin died in June at age 71, then Jerry Reed recently at age 71. People slightly younger than McCain are kicking the bucket. Is the Universe is trying to tell us something? If McCain gets elected and dies before January 20th, Palin would go straight to the Presidency without any training wheels. But atleast she's made small-talk with Karzai....
- stevetrojanman, on 09/24/2008, -1/+1Umm...George Carlin did a significant amount of drugs and was a heavy smoker. Jerry Reed was a heavy smoker and died of emphysema...
I don't think these are reasonable comparisons...- neognostic, on 09/24/2008, -0/+2McCain's medical history is 1300 pages long, I think it is a very reasonable comparison.

Perhaps the fact that he enrolled in the military (requiring many...not sure how many pages of medical documents) could have played a part.
Perhaps the fact that he was severely hobbled by his experiences and incidents in the military could have played a part.
He has never been a smoker...which has been proven to cut life expectancy significantly...unless you're a big tobacco believer...somehow I doubt that.
My medical history is probably in the range of 100 pages long and I'm 25. I applied for the Air Force Academy out of high school...that required almost 40 pages on its own. I've been to the dentist...there's probably about 10 pages in there. I've had emergency room visits...probably another 10-20 pages there. It adds up quickly.
I take it you believe that Obama's 2 page note from his physician should suffice for his entire medical history though, right?

- ProLick, on 09/24/2008, -0/+3Isn't kid small talk why you have press secretaries and receptionists? Photo-op only, just like Dubya. One hopes some of the photographers are hoping to be reporters and sneaking in some sort some kind of audio recording device.
- gwayo, on 09/24/2008, -0/+5FTA: "These sessions and meetings scheduled for Wednesday are part of the Republican campaign's effort to give Palin experience in foreign affairs. She has never met a foreign head of state and first traveled outside North America just last year."
I think that's cute how a few seconds with a few important int'l type people gives one foreign affairs experience.- stevetrojanman, on 09/24/2008, -1/+1Or how a few months in the U.S. Senate, never once making legislation, makes you capable of running the whole damn country...
At least her position will have the word "Vice" in front of it.

- bitfreak, on 09/24/2008, -0/+3The pat on the chest was really the clincher. Truly a masterful maneuver. She's a ready!
(vomits on floor) - MadKennyP, on 09/24/2008, -0/+1The bigger question is, "Did Palin blink while she was talking to Karzai?"
That's the true test of a leader.
