Out of touch? McCain needs cue card to remember milk prices

- Scremf, on 07/26/2008, -25/+8That's why I don't drink milk.
- YukosEyes, on 07/26/2008, -3/+10If you looked at the price per ounce, you would notice that even Organic Milk is cheaper than the other imitation juices or sodas you drink that are very damaging to your health in the long term. I never understood why people focus on the price of milk and don't think twice about other things they have in their cart like soda or the nutrient-free bread (infused with high-fructose corn-syrup). A little critical thinking could help everyone in the US.
- bsl4doc, on 07/26/2008, -1/+10Mmm, yes. Give me some of the antibiotics infused, animal protein covered fluid from a bovine's overworked and undernourished teat! Yummy!
/sarcasm - Jrr6415sun, on 07/26/2008, -1/+3you do more with milk than drink it. More people use milk than soda or juices.
- Lukesed, on 07/26/2008, -5/+2The calories in milk will do more damage to the average US adult than anything in a diet soda. You bring up unsubstantiated clams about brain cancer or whatever, I'll show you the #1 cause of death in America, heart failure.
- gonzoloDK, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0i know it's incredible insensitive, but i'm gonna host a small party when the scientists find out aspatam increases the risk of cancer.

Aspartame, on the other hand... - Lukesed, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1@gonzolo
Wait. So you acknowledge that science currently does not support the idea that aspartame is dangerous, yet you still believe that it is? Take a step back and think about that. You might as well build your diet around the increased cancer risk of water that is at a temperature between fifty-three and sixty-one degrees fahrenheit unless it is in a purple plastic cup. It would be equally logical. - gonzoloDK, on 07/28/2008, -0/+01) it's aspatam in my lingo (danish)
2) smoking was scientificly "cancer free" once
3) i have the right to hope ^^

Obama does not even buy his children birthday or Christmas presents....
From the British newspaper, The Telegraph
"Barack Obama does not give birthday presents to children "
http://tinyurl.com/5b8vg3- archlich, on 07/26/2008, -1/+10First of all, he doesn't give them, I quote, from your article, Santa does: "In a magazine interview Obama and his wife Michelle revealed that one of their steadfast house rules is not giving Christmas or birthday presents to Malia, 10, and Sasha, seven."
And in the next paragraph "Santa Claus is still permitted to deliver seasonal gifts however."
Not all parents like giving lavish presents to their kids. What's so wrong about wanting to just have a party rather than being a materialist and always receiving gifts? - chicofaraby, on 07/26/2008, -3/+10Thanks for informing us about such a vital issue. Let's not worry about torture, illegal wars of aggression, crashing housing markets, runaway inflation or a plummeting dollar. Instead, we should pay attention to how different families celebrate holidays. That is much more important.
- sinrtb, on 07/26/2008, -1/+7wtf I got nothing that said the "cheap bad dad" out of that article. Since when is a dad that is there, shares in the housework, and pays attention to the little things in a child's life being bad?

- algaeturd, on 07/26/2008, -19/+179Seriously...I know there's been a swift(boat) wave of McCain support on Digg recently but this man is completely out of his mind. Totally remove party affiliation and I still feel the same way...he is clueless on foreign policy, economy, social issues...I can't think of a single issue that this man is really clued into. And that's FRIGHTENING based on what the U.S. is trying to pull itself out of right now. We're on the verge of another depression and people are considering electing a man with absolutely NO experience dealing with ANY economy?
Wow.
Just wow. It blows my mind what the American people wish upon themselves sometimes.- Ajajadude, on 07/26/2008, -3/+17Obviously the majority of American people didn't learn their lesson the last time. Or they did, but they'd rather have another 4 years of a Bush-like guy rather than a black democrat. It's sad how so many people can't seem to get passed party lines.
- WriterinSac, on 07/26/2008, -2/+12It just puzzles me. He can't get any facts right, but people consider him as a choice to lead our country. But then someone had to vote for Bush, twice, even when he couldn't articulate a single sentence. Who are these people? Is this an example of a poor school system where people aren't capable of making intelligent choices? Puzzling....
- cliffotn, on 07/26/2008, -10/+4Wave of McCain support? What? Huh? Are you sure you aren't confusing Digg with Fox News?
Listen, I think McCain is a dolt, but to be fair I think Obama is a douche bag. The choice? A dolt or a douche bag. I can't win politically or here on Digg. I don't like McCain, that puts me in the super-duper majority, but I also don't like Obama, that makes me a Digg-Traitor. Digg is not experiencing a pro McCain Support Wave, it may just not be quite *SOOO* left leaning on Saturday and Sunday as the working 9-5'ers are home and have time to play. - ogbar, on 07/26/2008, -2/+3annnnd notice how cliffotn gets dug down.
- rald84, on 07/26/2008, -2/+10"I know there's been a swift(boat) wave of McCain support on Digg recently"
i've noticed it (and obama bashing) only happens during the weekend (friday to sunday).- Hockey13, on 07/26/2008, -4/+2I've noticed "Obama bashing," but I haven't noticed all that much McCain support. One does not necessarily imply the other. There are many of us out here who are disgusted by McCain, had a bit of hope in Obama, but then when he started sounding like a rather war-like Democrat (More troops in Afghanistan? Taking a hard line against Iran? Pro-Israel no matter what? Complete confidence in the Federal Reserve*?) and made his FISA bed, we became a bit disenchanted.
So please stop acting like your candidate is some golden unicorn riding in a meadow of incorruptibility.
*Source: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601070&si ... - Aorawn, on 07/26/2008, -0/+3Honestly, we NEED more troops in Afghanistan. That's where we should've been the past five years, instead of having a big dick-waving contest in Iraq.
- vexingmodstwo, on 07/27/2008, -3/+1That's because there's a higher likelihood that people who oppose Obama have jobs.

There's plenty of legitimate stuff to fault McCain on.

- ogbar, on 07/26/2008, -2/+1You are the clueless fool that can't understand that symbolism doesn't always trump substance in the real world. you are being fed all this glory by a media obsessed by Obama-mania. - cmscott, on 07/27/2008, -0/+2damn, you've got me breathing manually now.
- clarkd, on 07/26/2008, -18/+100To be honest, this is a little lame. I can get behind the criticisms of him making stupid mistakes like the Iraq/Pakistan border since he claims that he has "experience", but now it's just getting redundant and a little annoying. How about we focus on actually policies instead of his pathetic little mistakes. His policies alone should make anyone think twice about voting for him. I understand it's fun to poke fun at the old man, but let's grow up a little, look at what matters, and realize that making fun of him at this level won't win anyone over.
- joel8x, on 07/26/2008, -3/+8Agreed, this kind of politics by the either party just broadens the gap. If left to their politics alone, Obama should have no problem walking away with the election. This kind of stuff is a waste of everybody's time.
- 12b6, on 07/26/2008, -5/+10Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with you, since I hate the politician-milk "gotcha" crap. I think for once the milk question is actually relevant, considering the cost of food and fuel, the economy in general, and the fact that he was dumb enough to take questions in front of the cheese section of a grocery store.
- alexforcefive, on 07/26/2008, -7/+3Agreed. Honestly, who knows the price of a gallon of milk? In saying that, who even buys milk by the gallon?
- Gregbertt, on 07/26/2008, -0/+12I buy it by the gallon. Four kids. We go through *at least* one gallon a day - sometimes two.
That's...*checks cue card*... a lot of damn money for milk. - lisaawesome, on 07/26/2008, -0/+8Families buy it by the gallon. My family doesn't use much milk at all and we still go through a gallon a week for cooking and cereal. I used to be a cashier at a grocery store and we had regulars who every week bought 5-8 gallons of milk. That ***** adds up fast and it is not even a full meal, just an ingredient or a drink.
- naithom, on 07/27/2008, -0/+3Anyone with growing children, pregnant mothers, etc.
- Gregbertt, on 07/26/2008, -0/+12I buy it by the gallon. Four kids. We go through *at least* one gallon a day - sometimes two.
- ObamAmerican48, on 07/26/2008, -7/+5I appreciate your sensible response but have to disagree. The republicans have come at us for decades with every smear tactic know to civilization. We need to attack them with every mean, sneaky, rotten thing we have, and that includes making fun of a man who tries to posture himself as "one of us" by calling Obama elitist--when McDouche himself can't even relate to student loan debt and the price of gas and groceries. He is completely and utterly out of touch with most Americans, and we need to get that message out there as often as we can and in as derogatory a manner as we can, if for no other reason that to let the repugnantcans know we're playing dirty as needed this year. We've tried to be nice too often. It's time to pull out the big guns.
- jcounterman, on 07/26/2008, -1/+4So the only way to beat an opposing group is to become as "mean, sneaky, rotten" as that group? You cannot say this out of one side of your mouth and claim to be for compromise and hope from the other side.
This makes you as bad as the people you oppose. - chaosblade77, on 07/27/2008, -1/+2I disagree about the mean, sneaky, and rotten part, that would make him even more of a cookie-cutter candidate, which he seems to *attempt* to try to stray from... I mean, it would be good if the general public knew that the guy they were voting for didn't understand what they are going though. Didn't Obama even say something about running an "honest election" and not run a big smear campaign?
- jcounterman, on 07/26/2008, -1/+4So the only way to beat an opposing group is to become as "mean, sneaky, rotten" as that group? You cannot say this out of one side of your mouth and claim to be for compromise and hope from the other side.
- moush, on 07/26/2008, -2/+6Milk can be priced differently depending on the brand, and type. This is a stupid criticism. I doubt most people can tell you the exact price of a certain kind of milk.
- thallium205, on 07/26/2008, -0/+3This guy could: http://newsbusters.org/static/2007/06/2007-06-16Bo ...
- Cuchanu, on 07/26/2008, -6/+1Well I don't know how much milk is and I'm poor. It could be that the government is paying for my milk (WIC). I don't think McCain has that excuse. Somebody is smoking weed right outside my window.
- queenbee93, on 07/26/2008, -2/+2We HAVE to really look into this--because no one makes HUGE mistakes, instead they make a whole lot of little, tiny ones that eventually roll up into this gigantic ***** of hurt for everyone around them. Take Bush for instance--he made a mistake in 2002 when he ignored the intel broadcast almost Daily from Germany, Italy and yes--World News Tonight and the UN about the yellow cake being bogus....He also made that tiny mistake of going after Valerie Plame, then there was the little bitty reflex blip by him and everyone in his circle in deleting white house email...lots of little things--like removing our name from an old fogey document called the Geneva Convention, like stopping to massage the shoulders of the only woman leader at a summit that was being broadcast world wide...like talking to Blair and having his food tumble out of his clueless mouth.
They say that "god" is in the details. You discount them at your own peril--because behind every great act either for good or ill was lots of little ones. Here's a clue--think of acts like Thunder. Thunder is the audio after effects of lightning. So by the time you hear the thunder the lightning has already come and gone and done its damage.
That is what a big event is like--it is recognized too late to do anything except hurt---but the little signs--it getting dark...the humidity level...that strange vibration in the air that precedes a lightning strike. Those are the clues smart people and alert people recognize and run for cover.
The people who think it is no big deal? They are the ones standing there with their hair on end and saying "Hey..whats going on, or they are the crispy dead ones"
This reminds me of a time I went to Paris with my spouse. We were driving around and got lost. He kept trying to see the spot on the map wherewe needed to go--but he neglected to know where we were. I suggested he do so and he got mad. Finally, he suggested that I take over. The first thing I did was pull over--find out where we WERE and then where we needed to go then plotted it on one of the street maps. We got there in about 45 minutes. 30 minutes for him to get us more and more lost, and about 10 minutes for me to find the place then parking--5 minutes more to walk there from our parking place.
My husband is a brilliant man--but he lacks common sense. So do a lot of Americans.
McCain should know the price of milk and of gas and of ground beef, etc --maybe he should adopt a few middle class people and their families as pets--because you can't lead this country from "R" back to "A" if you don't even know where the ***** "R" is or how it feels. - OrigamiRonin, on 07/27/2008, -2/+1It seems like this scenario comes up in every campaign. "Oh my, candidate X doesn't know the price of milk!" It's so predictable that I'm surprised that the campaigns even let their candidate into a supermarket any more.
I'd have to agree. This is a non-issue and more than a little silly. He's not applying for the position of buying my groceries after all.
At least, not unless he works for free. - noogymmij, on 07/27/2008, -0/+1His pathetic mistakes are daily on simple things. How can a man who can't remember the timeline of events in Iraq, the price of a gallon of milk, etc be fit for the Presidency.
- mikesoba, on 07/26/2008, -4/+23Shopping with some family at the grocers--so what; I'm supposed to elect him because he enters a grocers and quotes a price ?Using people as stage props in campaigns is out of hand and a joke. Enough. And enough of Granpa McBoring.
- LessThan3, on 07/27/2008, -1/+1I find it funny that the "average family" who's living in dire economic times still has the money to buy a 12 pack of pepsi. Seriously, buck up and drink tap water if its so bad.
I'd like to see McCain and Obama make political stops at a Goodwill, homeless shelter, or food stamps office.

- SRSco, on 07/26/2008, -15/+150To be honest, I don't know the price of milk either, and I just bought a half gallon yesterday. I'm not an elitist, I just have other things to worry about rather than the price of milk.

- sinrtb, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4hrmm i know milk went up and my kids go through 2 gallons a week but if you asked me for the price I wouldn't be able to give it. Though I know it was closer to 3.00 then 4.00. Its milk not gas. Ask him how much it is to fill up his car at the pump.
Edit: although if i were standing in the milk aisle I would not need a cue card to figure out the price of milk. Especially if I knew I would need that info in 2 minutes for a speech I was planning to give. - zooplibob, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1Thats true huh? There are apparently millions of people who are considering voting for this man in November. As algaeturd (love that name) said, peel away the party affiliation--it's scary that ANYONE would vote for this man simply to hang on to their conservative agenda.

If you did, then you'd have something to feel sheepish about. McCain isn't just some guy who doesn't know the cost of milk, because he went into this bit with intent to make a point on the economy. Reading off of a card doesn't help his case.- joshblufs, on 07/27/2008, -1/+2I'm all for talking smack about McCain but I work in TV and I see world class pros try to deliver specific and detailed info all the time. Guess what they all use...... you guessed it cue cards teleprompters and notes. its called being prepared. - Tyorant, on 07/26/2008, -9/+32He doesn't know the price of milk?! :-O
He'll definitely make a poor president. This is the most relevant criticism of McCain i've ever seen!!!!- groovechamp30, on 07/26/2008, -7/+4Thats not the point, he should be able to remember these kind of things if he needs to.
- flip2trip, on 07/26/2008, -1/+4Yes, McCain should know the price of everything! Then he could go on the price is right and win a MILLION dollars and then the country would be saved!!!
- Disregard, on 07/26/2008, -7/+16Shows he's probably never bought his own groceries in his life.
If someone had written $40 a gallon on that card, he'd have read it without hesitation.
- groovechamp30, on 07/26/2008, -7/+4Thats not the point, he should be able to remember these kind of things if he needs to.
- SwedishNinja, on 07/26/2008, -5/+28To be fair, can any of you say what the price of a gallon of milk is off of the top of your head? With the way food prices have been fluctuating lately, I wouldn't expect any of you to.
- rald84, on 07/26/2008, -1/+6i don't drink milk so no, i don't. but the chicken breast, for example, costs $3/lb (store brand in bulk with shopping card discount) to $6/lb (name brand small quantity).
the only acceptable explanations would be that he doesn't drink milk on a regular basis OR he doesn't need to look at prices because they don't matter for him.- SwedishNinja, on 07/26/2008, -1/+1Or Cindy does all the shopping ;)
- moush, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1It's actually $2.75/$5.75 here, so you're out of touch with the economy rald.
- fuzzynyanko, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1Depends on store, but I know it's above $3/gallon. I usually expect within a range between $3-5/gallon. Also, milk is one of those things you notice like eggs
- Troy64, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1Maybe he doesn't look at prices because he is a guy. I do most of the grocery shopping at my house and I couldn't tell you what most things cost. I just know I spend about $200 a week.
- ObamAmerican48, on 07/26/2008, -4/+2Yeah, actually I can. Every time I go to the grocery store, which is every week, I take pictures of the upwardly changing prices. IT IS OUT OF CONTROL, and if John McCain isn't in tune with that then he is not fit to be our next president.
- mikelist, on 07/26/2008, -3/+1one real difference is that this was a mccain manufactured pr op. he shouldn't have had to put his lines on a card.
an obviously manipulated situation (nothing really wrong with that per se) he should have memmed his lines.
at one time i thought of mccain as the only republican i'd ever vote for, i'm glad i never got the opportunity back then.
too bad people didn't listen carefully to that other republican, dwight eisenhower, when he warned us of what might happen. - xptoast, on 07/26/2008, -0/+33.26 walmart I drink a lot of milk. Without it I'd be pissed. Mmm cow milk.
- MindyB, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1The issue here is that he is running for President and you guys are not. Given that the economy is in shambles and prices for basic sustenance items like milk and eggs have gone way up in a matter of a few months, the candidate should have at least some awareness of the price or at least the % increase in the last few months of something as basic as milk.
He should be prepared if he is going to do a dumb campaign stump in a grocery store!
- rald84, on 07/26/2008, -1/+6i don't drink milk so no, i don't. but the chicken breast, for example, costs $3/lb (store brand in bulk with shopping card discount) to $6/lb (name brand small quantity).
- lester1024, on 07/26/2008, -4/+31I buy milk about once a week, and I couldn't tell you what the price of milk is. I could tell you how much a bottle of Sky Vodka costs though.
- tiraspol, on 07/26/2008, -13/+2That old piece of *****...is that the best America got?
- briguymaine, on 07/26/2008, -2/+4no. apparently we have Obama as a choice. I doubt he would know the price of milk either. These "headlines" that front page Digg are ridiculous. All of the top tier politicians are corrupt and out of touch.
Oh and my wife buys most of the milk and when I do I don't look at the price because we need it so it doesn't matter. And no, I'm not rich.
- briguymaine, on 07/26/2008, -2/+4no. apparently we have Obama as a choice. I doubt he would know the price of milk either. These "headlines" that front page Digg are ridiculous. All of the top tier politicians are corrupt and out of touch.
- Tyrghast, on 07/26/2008, -12/+5He needs cue cards just to put his pants on.
- LukasSmith, on 07/26/2008, -4/+29Yeah because everyone remembers milk prices off the top of their head. ....
Everyone rushes to the grocery store to prove me wrong.
actually wtf why did I even comment? Milk prices? this is lame.- fluxion, on 07/26/2008, -0/+8i buy a half gallon every week, and i have to admit, i have no clue in hell how much it costs.
- limezor2, on 07/26/2008, -10/+4He probably has some butler to do all his shopping. This is the kind of man who has everything on a silver plate and more, and he's the best the Republicans can elect?
- evilmonkey0013, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1So, since you do all your own shopping, do you know the price of a gallon of milk off the top of your head?
- ogbar, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1You, sir or madam, are an idiot. Everything on a silver plate? It's good to see liberal stereotypes in action. Out of the mouths of babes.
- janthes, on 07/26/2008, -9/+1Wow... Just wow...
- and303, on 07/26/2008, -4/+16Out of the seemingly endless things you could criticize him for, this is probably the most irrelevant and shameful. Does anyone here know what today's milk prices are?
- PeTeRZz, on 07/26/2008, -6/+27Who cares? I don't know the price of milk either
- scaaven2, on 07/26/2008, -5/+6ask your mom upstairs.
- WraTH017, on 07/26/2008, -4/+11Ok, I really dislike McCain and him winning the election would be disastrous for America... but... Can anybody tell me (off the top of your head) how much a gallon of 2% low fat milk costs? How about a stalk of celery? A head of Iceberg lettuce? How about a pound of red onions? How about a pound of white onions? Box of tampons? No? Then you're all senile and out of touch.
Again, let's focus on the important issues.- mycatsasha, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4Hot Pockets are $2.12 at Wal-mart, $2.40 at Cub next to Wal-mart, and $2.90 at the other Cub.
I don't remember the price of milk. - Vessol, on 07/26/2008, -1/+4Where I live.
2% Milk=4.25$ per gallon
Pack of two bundles with multiple stalk's of celery=2.45$
Head of Iceberg Lettice=1.50$
Pound of Red Onions=Roughly 5.00$, not sure on exact
White Onions=Around 7.00$
Tampons=Glanced over when getting some condoms, were around 7.95$- flip2trip, on 07/26/2008, -0/+2Congratulations now, according to digg, you are supremely qualified to be President of the United States!
- Tommyhawk, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1You're obviously lying because noone on digg has a girlfriend therefore you could not possibly have been buying condoms.
- WraTH017, on 07/28/2008, -0/+1to flip2trip:
He's really not. Red onions cost more than white onions. He's out of touch. - Vessol, on 07/30/2008, -0/+2Depends on location, where I am red onions are much cheaper than white.
- ShadowFox06, on 07/26/2008, -4/+1The point of him entering the supermarket was to do a PHOTO OP. Is it that hard to memorize the price of milk than relying on cue cards to show how out of touch you are with the economy? Us Americans don't need to see the presumptive nominee of his party make an ass out of himself.
- mycatsasha, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4Hot Pockets are $2.12 at Wal-mart, $2.40 at Cub next to Wal-mart, and $2.90 at the other Cub.
- jdh24, on 07/26/2008, -2/+13He didn't memorize the price of milk? Imagine the frenzy on digg if he got the price wrong...
- cobophers, on 07/26/2008, -3/+6So I heard the Senate just passed one incredibly controversial bill that attempts to bail out Freddie Mac/Fannie May for up to something like $800 Billion and possibly more if needed. But McCain doesn't know milk prices and neither do I. Whats the real importance here? (BTW - I don't support "McSame")
- BotchaMcCoola, on 07/26/2008, -1/+2Yep, good time to bet on the falling dollar and rising oil again. Will these thrills ever stop?
- ck01, on 07/26/2008, -14/+8Obama probably thinks more arabic translators are required at the grocery in order to interpret milk pricing.
- diemunkiesdie, on 07/26/2008, -2/+13I'm in touch!! Milk costs $3.49 a gallon for me! But then again I just bought some about 10 minutes ago! Seriously though, I wouldn't know unless I had just bought some. I would be able to ballpark it close, but you can't expect world leaders to know the price of every little thing! What if McCain is lactose intolerant? You wouldn't expect him to know then would you!
Go ask the other members of your household if they know how much it costs, they probably wouldn't know either.- jdh24, on 07/26/2008, -1/+3Wait, wait, wait...McCain is lactose intolerant???? WHAT A TERRIBLE LEADER HE WILL MAKE!
- fuzzynyanko, on 07/26/2008, -1/+1Or ask someone that's standing inside a grocery store
- kaidovak, on 07/26/2008, -4/+5bread: what's it at?
30 seconds to tell me, starrrthinnnngg.... now! - crackberri, on 07/26/2008, -10/+4You’re right, committing adultery is his thing. Oops, that’s for Democrats.....
- anachronaut, on 07/26/2008, -0/+5Rudy Giuliani is a Democrat? News to me...
That is who you were talking about, right? He's pretty much the most notorious adulterer in politics, and that's saying something.- ogbar, on 07/26/2008, -2/+1or how about Bill Clinton... or John Edwards??
- daehnomel, on 07/26/2008, -0/+3What about that Holy roller former republican Governor of New York whorin around, you dumb ass clown. Or what about all those republican senators who like little boys? What about any number of ***** the republicans have done to F-up this country, Like ***** on the constitution, tanking the economy, selling jobs to the lowest foreign bidder. Oops, that's for REpublicans...
- flip2trip, on 07/26/2008, -2/+1Holy roller? Giuliani?(where did you get that from?) ALL those republican senators?(huh?) Selling jobs to the lowest foreign bidder?--(Clinton signed NAFTA by the way) As for shi**ing on the constitution BOTH parties do that pretty well. Tanking the economy? Well, If we are in agreement that the collapse of the housing market is partly to blame for our current position, then read about Clinton's Community Reinvestment Act--Carter originally signed it but Clinton put the balls to it and viola! The stage was set for a real estate boom followed by a bust.
Also, consider it's the Dems who have hindered us drilling for our own oil the past 20 years.
While I do not absolve the Republicans their responsibility in our current situation, I hope you can see that you cannot blame one party exclusively for our problems. However, I think it is reasonable to blame the Leftists and their socialist agenda for a LOT of what is wrong with the US. (When I say leftist that is not exclusively Democrats)
- flip2trip, on 07/26/2008, -2/+1Holy roller? Giuliani?(where did you get that from?) ALL those republican senators?(huh?) - Qtip42, on 07/26/2008, -6/+5The presidency is not his thing either.
- JoeVet, on 07/26/2008, -4/+8Sorry, non-issue. I like to bash McSame as much as the next guy but lets be real. Men don't know the price of milk or even where the grocery store is located. This is a plus in the McCain column.
- Diggnabbit, on 07/26/2008, -3/+3Yeah, obviously lots of people don't remember the price of a gallon of milk.
The thing here is that he'd JUST gone on this shopping trip with a woman and they'd "had an extended chat" about how much milk cost.
http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/stumper/archive/200 ...
And he still couldn't remember.- Dundasbro, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4To be fair it probably consisted more of McCain talking about how in his day milk cost a nickle and you still had enough money to ride the tram and get a sandwich than how much it actually costs today.
- lisaawesome, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1That is exactly how it went. My dad is eerily similar to McCain and I hear that same story over and over again.
- Dundasbro, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4To be fair it probably consisted more of McCain talking about how in his day milk cost a nickle and you still had enough money to ride the tram and get a sandwich than how much it actually costs today.
- spamcrusher, on 07/26/2008, -1/+5I buy my own groceries and I bust my ass to support myself, but I don't know the price of milk either. I just never bothered to look at the price since it's not an item I comparison shop for (there's one specific type of milk I enjoy best, so I get it).
- bobh1234, on 07/26/2008, -4/+0The fact that any naysayers commented on this, let alone dugg it in the first place, speaks volumes. I'm less worried about McCain becoming President than any zealous digg commenter.
- bbqsalad, on 07/26/2008, -10/+3McCain is going to win. And you all know this.
- playwiththings, on 07/26/2008, -6/+3It doesn't help that Obama was delivering a half-hour speech in Berlin without looking at notes while McCain was struggling over milk in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania...
- ck01, on 07/26/2008, -0/+5Maybe if he had used some notes his speech wouldn't have sounded like absurd rambling. I guess that the free beer and wieners that were offered at the speech helped the Germans get through it.
- vrbanabanana, on 07/26/2008, -0/+5Obama's speech in Berlin was most likely on a teleprompter. There wasn't a single "uh" or "um" so it was either on a teleprompter or he had practiced it so much it's not even funny.
- ShadowFox06, on 07/26/2008, -4/+7The point is if you want to open a discussion on a matter as simple as Milk prices, don't use a cue card for assistance.
It just shows how out of touch he is with the economy if he needs cue cards to make small-talk. - copypastry, on 07/26/2008, -8/+2John McCain doesn't care about cud people
- drig, on 07/26/2008, -2/+6And how many people here would know a gallon of milk just crossed $4/gal. I certainly didn't know that and would have needed a que card. It also just could have been a note for his next speaking topic. Stop reading into things and actually report real news.
- queenbee93, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1Here in Kansas, that price crossed 4.00/gal in January. You know, what you make it your business to know--if someone wants to impress--they learn basic things even if they have to learn in the spur of the moment to appear to have always known it. Information about the price of goods, how consumers are impacted and being squeezed, health care costs, etc should be daily fodder for both candidates--and for all of you who say you don't know either--you should. Knowing the cost of milk or ground beef would show you that food prices have increased at least 300% since Clinton left office and are rising. You should know this--the time to act is now, not when all the goods are rung up and you say: "Hey! what cost me 32.00/gal? milk?) Because the cost of groceries are a precursor to the rising costs in utilities and how it all ends up dumped on we the consumer (the impact of increased transportation costs and price gouging)
Many of you probably do not know the size of your car's gas tank either. If you did, you might have noticed that at least in the mid west, your tank capacity has "grown" by at least 2 gallons, thereby making the station owners even wealthier than they have been by charging you for the bogus gasoline. For instance, my tank holds 16 gallons, but it has held as much as 21 gallons at certain stations. I know this becasue I will run it, until it is totally out of gas to test my theory, then put in enough to get to a station--then see how much it takes to fill it up. Kansas is really bad about bloating capacity, followed by Illinois. Get a clue--or wake up one day only to discover that despite your witty blogging skills---most of you are *****.

- TheTaylor, on 07/26/2008, -2/+3I buy milk at least twice a week and have NO CLUE what the hell it cost.... plus you got to remember his wife is freaking loaded, I dont think he even notices when he spends 3 or 4 bucks
- BotchaMcCoola, on 07/26/2008, -2/+1He probably knows how much we pay via the Military for it in Baghdad - No doubt an easier to remember figure like $10.00 per gallon. Perhaps he was wise not to let that slip out.
- odganarb, on 07/26/2008, -1/+3So? I buy two gallons of milk a week and honestly, I couldn't tell you how much I pay for them.
- norman619, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4Here's some news for you guys. Most politicans are out of touch. We haven't had a politician who truly was of the people in ages. Most have lead lives of privilage.
- daehnomel, on 07/26/2008, -1/+1Obama didn't live a life or privilege.
- kreatre2007, on 07/26/2008, -5/+6This isn't any different from Barack Hussein Obama stuttering through answers to questions when he doesn't have a teleprompter.

- kreatre2007, on 07/27/2008, -1/+1You haven't been watching much TV or listening to the radio. If you did, you would know exactly what I'm talking about. You must be too busy listening to the pro-Obama media to notice how ***** he performs when asked direct questions without a script to keep him on track. I care more about what he says when he's caught off guard than what he says in a speech.
- daehnomel, on 07/26/2008, -4/+3You dumb ass right wing hill billy, he's one of the greatest orators of our time. Your just so used to your dumb ass parties pathetic excuses for speeches( ehh, and performance) you wouldn't know a good speech if it slapped you in your slack jawed inbred face.

- kreatre2007, on 07/27/2008, -1/+2You're the dumb ass. You made an assumption about me and what party I belong to. I don't hold allegiance for any party. I have a firm commitment to an ideology that Barack Hussein Obama stands against. Obama can give a great speech filled with a lot of high and mighty words and phrases but, anyone who listens closely with an open mind will notice that he doesn't say an damned thing. Unlike you, I am not fooled by speeches. Barack Hussein Obama is typical, Socialist liberal. He is nothing new. Hopefully, the voters will see right through him on election day.
- danielttt, on 07/27/2008, -1/+1"You dumb ass right wing hill billy, he's one of the greatest orators of our time. Your just so used to your dumb ass ......"
Wow, given your vocabulary and your incredible prowess with the English language, I would assume you're either an Ivy League faculty or clean septic tanks for a living....On your scale, if Obama's the greatest orator of our time...You gotta be the second...Maybe you should run for office...you are an exemplary democrat...
- damntourists, on 07/26/2008, -4/+1wow he stuttered? maybe he is human?
***** dude, he ***** stuttered and you're using that as an argument against him to support mccain?- flip2trip, on 07/26/2008, -1/+2He didn't say he supports McCain. Why don't you just take what he said, which is an apt comparison, for what it is and stop reading more than what is said into comments?
- jedreport, on 07/26/2008, -2/+5put up a video then. and thanks for spelling his name right.
- TheAfterpipe, on 07/26/2008, -2/+10This is it, folks. You'll never get anywhere unless you memorize worthless trivia such as the current price of milk. You should be meditating on the cost of deoderant and contemplating every night before you sleep. Just look how McCain turned out. and now our entire country is in jeopardy for want of the price of milk. Title of story: McCain out of touch? I must be entirely out of touch with society even though I'm part of it.
How dare McCain not know this!- norman619, on 07/26/2008, -2/+1No *****. McCain and others don't have to worry about such things so why would they know the price?

- m301, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0I'm not a big fan of McCain either but this stuff is just plain stupid. I mean, who seriously cares? Obama uses notes during his speeches, are you going to criticize him for that?
- Comanche, on 07/26/2008, -5/+6Its not that he doesn't know the price of milk. Its that he cannot remember ANYTHING for his little "speeches". He is OLD.
