Obama camp releases 41-pg doc debunking new "swiftboat" book
huffingtonpost.com — As promised, Barack Obama's campaign is hitting back hard against smear author Jerome Corsi's NYT best-selling book The Obama Nation. In a 41-page PDF document entitled Unfit for Publication - a riff on Corsi's 2004 Unfit for Command, which targeted John Kerry - the campaign documents every false claim they have been able in Corsi's current tome.

- Biller13, on 08/15/2008, -31/+13Agreed, the only thing he didn't answer was the part on Obama's cocaine use. But most people voting for Obama don't really care about that so I guess there was no point.
- CryRightardCry, on 08/15/2008, -10/+26I guess most people voting for Obama would rather have a little nose candy rather than the lies and corruption and lying to start wars. Oh, and the murder of thousands of innocent Iraqis.
Yeah, I'd rather Obama get high once in a while, not lie to America rather than some addled old warmonger. - cygnus2112, on 08/15/2008, -22/+6Given Obama's recent remarks about Iran, Israel, Georgia and the like - it seems like Obamapuppet would have voted along party lines to invade Iraq back in 2003. Thing is, most Obama-zealots refuse to believe that.
The two-party system is one party. I have to sort of laugh at those who think that Obama would do anything differently than McCain once in office.
Whatever the majority is behind, I question. Because the majority is usually wrong. Thanks media. - rchargel, on 08/15/2008, -1/+13It's hard to make that claim considering Obama was actively denouncing the war back in 2003. I remember him speaking at an anti-war rally that I attended only a few months before the invasion. I suppose it was easier to take that stance when he was merely a state-senator and not in national office.
- OwdenBowden, on 08/15/2008, -15/+4Watch what you say on Digg about Obama because this is the home of the Obama Brown-shirts and they will send you ass to a Obamanation concentration camp where they will either, Torture you, kill you or re-educate you into the Obama bot you should be.
I on the other hand am not afraid to take on the Obama Machine and call it like it is. He is a Socialist not a democrat. He is a lover and friend of Islam and the Islamic Terrorist (and their networks); He is a flip flopper and would lie in order to get what he wants from whom ever he wants. He has no respect for the United States of America - what the country was founded on, its laws, its rights, its constitution and all of the symbols. He is not even an American citizen (I too can photoshop a birth certificate). ANYONE who votes this scumbag into office should be tried for treason.
I am not endorsing McCain but I will state that he did give up a large portion of his life for his Country. Where as Obama would give up his country.
I don't care if you Digg me up or down as Digg has become a JOKE and a Land of ObamaIdiots. - anstice85, on 08/15/2008, -0/+6Corsi supporters are running wild in this thread.

- pitlord, on 08/15/2008, -38/+9By releasing a 41 page response that never answers a single question raised in Mr. Corsi's book?
>.>
The book cites over 700 sources that prove Barak Obama was lying about having been a Muslim, about his radical communist history. It proves that Barak Obama worked to pass legislation to ensure that a baby who survives a late term abortion completely unharmed and alive could be discarded with the trash and not be afforded the protection of the U.S. Constitution.
o.o
He is working on a law to allow a baby to be killed AFTER IT SURVIVES IT'S OWN ABORTION!
>.>
I'm sorry but that is just horrific. Any baby that can get through an abortion in one piece could kick Chuck Norris' ass and is just as much human as any one of us Killing that person is just plain murder.
-_-
Anyway the only response the liberals have to Jerome Corsi is to call him names. The bottom line is, if Corsi's book is so "wrong" why can't the Obama campaign actually respond to all of the questions he raises in "The Obama Nation?"
o.O
Thank G-d I will merit watching the Obama campaign self-destruct. We just might be able to avoid a global disaster if we can keep up the good fight against all of the evil in the world.- stagmire, on 08/15/2008, -5/+4"He is working on a law to allow a baby to be killed AFTER IT SURVIVES IT'S OWN ABORTION!"
Awesome if this is true. I fully support such a law. - charm803, on 08/15/2008, -3/+19Wow. You are delusional.
Next time to lie, you should at least pretend to show your sources. - rchargel, on 08/15/2008, -0/+6A baby surviving a late-term abortion is about as likely as you surviving being mauled by a bear, then a tiger, then a lion, then being shot in the head, then being stabbed, then being drowned and finally being strapped to a nuclear warhead before detonation. I'm wondering how often this happens that anybody would really feel the need to pass a law covering the eventuality. That's like passing a law to ban people from giving birth to alien zombies, it's just not really an agenda item. And while I am a liberal and will be voting for Obama in November, though neither he nor Hillary were anywhere near my first choice, I seriously doubt any politician (regardless of party) would vote FOR killing babies before an election. Please cite your sources (credible ones only please).
- Gutterpunk, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3"He is working on a law to allow a baby to be killed AFTER IT SURVIVES IT'S OWN ABORTION!"?
I hope they make a law to kill the parents of any baby able to survive their own abortions as well!
We can't have people spawning super invincible babies like that...

- BROWNS004, on 08/15/2008, -8/+3Obama is a great guy, he doesn't lie! He said he was against FISA! And he didn't support it, right? Obama said he was the Iraq War, and he wants to bring the troops home immediately, right?
When are you Obama supporters going to wake up and realize this man is not the Holy Saint you make him out to be? Every time he opens his mouth he insults your intelligence...- StarlessKnight, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4No, you're insulting the intelligence of those you want to 'help' by insinuating they're not capable of seeing that Obama isn't a messiah and that he can be or is just as flawed as any other person or politician. If Obama's not the answer, McCain sure isn't, so propose your viable alternative candidate (and I doubt most people off the internet believe in rallying to such a person, but one could always try summoning the grass roots campaign for it to work).
- Suzilla, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3@BROWNS004
I suggest you educate yourself as to what a "strawman" argument is. The only one calling Obama a "saint" or "messiah" or other such hyperbolic aphorisms are the same ones who are attacking him with these terms.
As for FISA, their are two very important things to keep in mind:
1) It makes no mention of immunity from criminal prosecution. The companies might be off the hook for paying money damages, however, their management can still go to jail for what they've done.
2) In order for the telecoms to be granted immunity, they must provide written documentation from the White House that says the telecoms were acting under instructions from Bush and with the understanding that they'd be held harmless. This is prima facie evidence that can be used against Bush for suborning violations of federal law -- an IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE. - SpacePoet, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2He is against FISA but there is a thing called compromise, it's part of the democratic process. There were hundreds of parts in that bill and eventually you have to go with the version that most closely resembles the one you want passed. He voted against the immunity (unlike mccain) but they were unable to get that part to pass. If he had filibustered the smear machine would have torn him a new one for hindering a national security bill. It was a lose lose situation so he chose to compromise.

3. Has never worked for himself, only used money from his daddy (and still ran it into the ground.)

Here is the truth about McCain:
SUBJECT: IS MCCAIN SECRETLY A WOMAN...OR EVEN WORSE?

Who is John McCain?
US Presidential candidate, John SIDNEY McCain, was born in Panama (thus the reason he doesn't mind his people flooding across our borders). He tries to hide his middle name by constantly referring to himself as John S. McCain. Do not let this fool you. John SIDNEY McCain, the probable presidential runner-up, has a woman's middle name. At the very least, the concealment of his middle name, SIDNEY, raises serious questions about his true gender and whether he is a SECRET woman. He has admitted that economics is not an issue he understands well. A certain gender is well known to be less inclined towards math and numbers. Then there are his $500 shoes. If elected, it's very likely McCain will institute mandatory lingerie pillow AND tickle fights.
John SIDNEY McCain was raised by parents of Scots-Irish and English ancestry. At their most harmless, the Irish are notorious drunks who enjoy fighting while stashing large piles of gold underneath rainbows. In the extreme, the Irish are violent TERRORISTS attempting to overthrow the government. While no evidence exists explicitly linking McCain to a TERROR organization, he has never denied membership in the IRA. It is also unclear whether he or any of his drunken relatives ever knew anyone who might know someone who once interacted with or passed in the street a member of the IRA. Given the challenges facing our country, we need confirmation that McCain is not affiliated nor knows people affiliated with TERROR organizations.
Born in 1936, John SIDNEY McCain moved around a lot throughout his early years, which coincided with World War II. The exact details of McCain's behavior during this time are sketchy at best. It is interesting to note there is no record of McCain denouncing the actions of the Nazis while they were committing genocides. He was noticeably silent. He may not have been a NAZI SYNTHESIZER, but this raises doubts about which side he was rooting for during World War II. This also raises questions about his potential loyalties as president, given our current wars and the wars he promises to start.
John SIDNEY McCain served as a naval pilot during the Vietnam War. While executing a mission in 1967, McCain was captured in Hanoi, where he stayed in the Hanoi Hilton for 5 long years. McCain's fellow soldiers battled valiantly against the evils of Communism while McCain was lounging in a hotel (most likely alternating between the pool and the hot tub to enhance the experience of both) run by Paris Hilton! If McCain had fought alongside his comrades, we may have never needed Rocky to defeat Communism.
After Vietnam, McCain returned to the US to discover his first wife with horrific injuries from an auto accident. He promptly began an affair with a woman 17 years his junior, eventually divorcing his disfigured first wife in 1980. As President, McCain will be faced with a similar situation, given the current wreck that is our country. He will be tempted to fool around with other countries. It will just be a matter of time until he divorces the US for a newer, younger, and more attractive country that offers him more than we can.
During this presidential election, we must be vigilant to prevent a John SIDNEY McCain presidency.
Can we really risk having a drunk, fighting Irishman who may or may not have ties to TERRORIST organizations? When trouble times arrive, will McCain fight for us or will he fall into the arms of another more-youthful country that looks strikingly like his current country? Do we really want to trust this country to someone who may secretly be a woman or a NAZI SYNTHESIZER?
Please forward to everyone you know. We can not have this (wo)man leading our country.

- corncat, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1The PDF is much less impressive if you read it and pay attention.... for example the "lie" that "Stanley Ann and Obama Senior were ever married in a church" is "refuted" by saying that Corsi "admits" that they were legally married.

Same old rightard shill.
Never ANYTHING to back up your claims.
Just whining and crying and claims you never can back up.
The Army needs rightards!- DreadPirate, on 08/15/2008, -7/+6Just like the insults and rants that you can never back up, CRC? The left needs cowards like you that run from any discussion, too scared to actually engage in real debate!
- DreadPirate, on 08/16/2008, -1/+3Oh, look. Some of CRC's buddies came to digg me down. Funny how not a single one of them could leave a message refuting my claims about him. How unsurprising.
- vexingmodstwo, on 08/15/2008, -3/+8The Ayers "rebuttal" is pretty weak and doesn't address the fact that Ayers is an avowed communist and a domestic terrorist. Their response is that he's part of the "establishment" now? C'mon.
And Obama was in Florida the day Wright gave the crazy sermon? As if Wright only ever went off once? Please.- rthakidn, on 08/15/2008, -2/+3Well Crying??

- DreadPirate, on 08/16/2008, -1/+3You'll never get a response from CRC - he's far too cowardly to actually respond to anyone. He, more than anyone else on digg, specializes in the "post and run" attack. He'll leave an insult-laden post with few if any facts to back it up, and never be seen in that particular thread.
He hasn't even had the balls to respond to me despite the number of times I have called him on his behavior. Instead, some of his little friends just come by and digg me down instead - and even *they* don't have the courage to respond to my post. An anonymous digg is the best they can manage.

Great to see Sen. Obama's team so quick on the draw - as usual. Right about now, corsi and the putrid lot he festers with are slowly realizing, Obama's no ***** John Kerry!

- LukasSmith, on 08/15/2008, -1/+1Divorces in America, and nasty divorces at that, are as common as chicken soup. The idea that he comes from a "broken home" doesn't surprise me in the least. Hell I came from a "broken home" you going to elect me president? "broken home" doesn't mean qualified to lead. Most of America has that honor. Except Obama decided to lie about it in books that were supposed to reveal Obama. When he lies about one thing what else could he be lying about? How much of his autobiographies are fairytale and how much are truth? Actually if Obama had just been honest in his books he may even have impressed me enough to bother to read all his books. I know most autobiographies written by the person themselves are self flattering, But seriously as an Obama supporter, I think you should expect better.

I consider myself a "Truther," (even though it has a negative connotation to it) but I am far from a skinhead. ( Although, I do shave my head bald, but for cosmetic purposes.) :)
I just CAN NOT believe the biased report the 911 "commission" released. It did not answer the correct questions sufficiently for me, and on top of that, many of the people on that commission were picked by Bush himself, who I find to be a war criminal in his own right. (just look at Iraq)
In the middle ages people were burned at the stake for believing the earth was round, they were punished by those who stuck with the traditional beliefs that the earth was indeed flat.
In time, the truth would be told.

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." -Obama 7/2/2008 Colorado Springs. If this isnt a stasi, this is a draft!
YES, Vote for some of that CHANGE. Obama is just as insane as McCain, dont vote for either if you have any dignity left. He is a demagogue, he will say anything to get elected. Stop buying his BS. The stasi quote above was removed from his official transcript, but is in the video.
Barack Obama is a deeply troubled personality, the megalomaniac front man for a postmodern coup by the intelligence agencies, using fake polls, mobs of swarming adolescents, super-rich contributors, and orchestrated media hysteria to short-circuit normal politics and seize power.
Obama comes from the orbit of the Ford Foundation, and has never won public office in a contested election. His guru and controller is Zbigniew Brzezinski, the deranged revanchist and Russia-hater who dominated the catastrophic Carter presidency 30 years ago. All indications are that Brzezinski recruited Obama at Columbia University a quarter century ago. Trilateral Commission co-founder Brzezinski wants a global showdown with Russia and China far more dangerous for the United States than the Bush-Cheney Iraq adventure.
Obama's economics are pure Skull & Bones/Chicago school austerity and sacrifice for American working families, all designed to bail out the bankrupt Wall Street elitist financiers who own Obama. Obama's lemming legions and Kool-Aid cult candidacy hearken back to Italy in 1919-1922, and raise the question of postmodern fascism in the United States today. Obama is a recipe for a world tragedy. No American voter can afford to ignore the lessons contained in this book.

Obama The Dummy - Brzezinski The Ventriloquist
By Webster G. Tarpley
5-19-8
http://www.rense.com/general82/obm.htm
WASHINGTON, DC -- In my book Obama The Postmodern Coup: The Making of a Manchurian Candidate, I argue that presidential candidate Barack Obama is a wholly owned puppet of Zbigniew Brzezinski and his associates of the Trilateral Commission, founded by David Rockefeller. As some have noted, Brzezinski has been attempting to conceal his actual domination of the Obama campaign, for which he is the chief guru and controller. Now a rhetorical outburst by Obama on the campaign trail in Oregon has once again pointed to the reality that Obama is a ventriloquist's dummy, with the Russia-hating fanatic Brzezinski, a barbarous relic of the Cold War, acting as the ventriloquist.
At a recent campaign stop in Oregon, Obama stated:
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said. "That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added. If India and China's "carbon footprint gets as big as ours, we're gone." (AFP)
This remarkable statement reveals the true program of a future Obama administration: savage austerity, brutal economic sacrifice, and a massive further reduction in the standard of living of the depleted and exhausted US population as demanded by David Rockefeller, George Soros, and Obama's Wall Street backers. This will be done under left cover through a global warming tax, a third world solidarity tax, and other demagogic frauds, with the revenue going to bail out Goldman Sachs, Citibank, and JP Morgan Chase. The tired, discredited post-9/11 "war on terror" slogans will be dumped.
..continued here http://www.rense.com/general82/obm.htm
* Obama once said that the issue of gay marriage should be left up to the state. But now he opposes a California ballot measure that would ban same-sex marriages.
* The messiah once opposed the Republicans (later adopted by Bill Clinton) welfare reform plan, calling it "disturbing." Now he embraces it.
* He was against granting immunity to telecom companies that aided our government in eavesdropping on telephone messages to and from known terrorist operatives overseas. Now he is for granting this immunity to the evil telecom corporations.
* Some time ago Obama said that he wholeheartedly supported the ban on the private ownership of guns in Washington DC. Then, after the Supreme Court came down with their ruling last week, suddenly Obama is a supporter of the people's right to keep and bear arms.
* Earlier this year Obama said that he was going to accept public financing of his presidential campaign after the convention. Now that he has seen he could get more money from private contributions than he would from public financing, he changed his mind.
* NAFTA? Barack was going to immediately renegotiate all of the evil NAFTA treaty. Now ... well, let's just say "not so much."- nycmac247, on 08/15/2008, -5/+8All true ...hope that people take the time to look...I used to LOVE obama and now have come around.

Webster_G._Tarpley: "was part of the LaRouche movement which has been referred to as Marxist, fascist, a political cult, a personality cult, a criminal enterprise, and "one of the strangest political groups in American history." But maybe the digg "Bury Brigade" is getting to huffingtonspam because i didnt see one mention of McCain until the comments after the story. Good for Obama for answering this book. But its said that both sides have to answer these nut jobs.- scoottie, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3said = sad ...... damn time limit for edits lol
- lndmn01, on 08/15/2008, -21/+16After reading the Obama camp's rebuttal I almost have to wonder what the point was. Surely the issues addressed were not the worst accusations in the book and even then some of the counterpoints were weak.
Another thing, why are 10 pages (one quarter) of the document used to personally attack Corsi and show negative reviews of the book. Were Obama's people afraid that there was too much truth to his book?- radiofrequency, on 08/15/2008, -10/+6Some of the rebuttals are outright lies. See my post below.
- barblibrarian, on 08/16/2008, -1/+1What a strange little person you are. Haven't you ever heard of discrediting the witness in a court case in order to have the jury question their entire testimony? That is the point here. Anything that discredits Corsi puts into question the entire book. If he gets anything minor wrong, then how likely is it he got the major things wrong? - very likely!! If he is a total scumbag of a person to begin with, how likely is it he is lying throughout the book? - very likely!! Besides, everyone now knows how his book about Kerry was a total lie and yet it cost Kerry the presidency. That is because Corsi was supported by Bush and Rove. So, yes, this is very important for the Obama camp to answer, to attack, and to discredit the man Corsi himself. Any other questions, Mr. Conservative?

- radiofrequency, on 08/15/2008, -25/+14Barack Obama's book, if not full of lies, is full of embellishments.
Here's one from p22:
Unfit for Publication: "Obama Supported The [Rezko] Project “Because It Was Going To Help People In His District…It’s A Successful
Project…And He’s Proud To Have Supported It.”"
Reality: The Rezko project was a slum that cost taxpayers over $1m that was never paid back. Rezko had to be sued to turn on the heat for residents during the Chicago winter.
http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/353829,CST-NWS- ...
"For more than five weeks during the brutal winter of 1997, tenants shivered without heat in a government-subsidized apartment building on Chicago's South Side. It was just four years after the landlords -- Antoin "Tony'' Rezko and his partner Daniel Mahru -- had rehabbed the 31-unit building in Englewood with a loan from Chicago taxpayers."
Here's another lie from Obama's book, p23 from "Unfit for Publication": "OBAMA NEVER REPRESENTED REZKO. NEVER. EVER."
http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2008/07/let-me-pu ...
"After stating he'd 'never done any favors for' Rezko, the Chicago Sun-Times discovered letters Obama wrote to city and state officials supporting Rezko's bid for $14 million in taxpayers' money for an elder-care facility."
http://bp0.blogger.com/_orkXxp0bhEA/SHLAkqyi0gI/AA ...
Is that Obama's signature on the letter? It states, "I am writing in support of the New Kenwood LLC's proposal" - a project in which Rezko and Obama’s former boss Allison Davis, who resigned from the Davis law firm in 1997, were partners.
Chicago Sun-Times, "Obama's Letters for Rezko": http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/425305,CST-N ...
"As a state senator, Barack Obama wrote letters to city and state officials supporting his political patron Tony Rezko's successful bid to get more than $14 million from taxpayers to build apartments for senior citizens.
"Obama's letters, written nearly nine years ago, for the first time show the Democratic presidential hopeful did a political favor for Rezko -- a longtime friend, campaign fund-raiser and client of the law firm where Obama worked -- who was indicted last fall on federal charges that accuse him of demanding kickbacks from companies seeking state business under Gov. Blagojevich."- metaliq, on 08/15/2008, -1/+4Just curious, but where did you copy and paste this from?

- TomustPain, on 08/15/2008, -14/+2I stopped reading this crap when I got to the part about Bill Ayers. I seem to recall some negative press, but that was 40 years ago like it says in the publication. I was 6 years old back then, and unless it was something of paramount importance like WWII or something as momentous, then I don't feel like rehashing all this *****! I trust Obama more than McCain for reasons a lot simpler than the complexity of all the pertinent issues, so he's getting my vote in November. But man! Please stop with all of this petty *****! I'm tired of watching stupid video clips of *****-face laura bush dending Michelle Obama saying "ooohhh.... I think she meant to say she's more proud..." Shut the ***** up you evil bitch laura bush you're married to the devil himself, and I can't understand Obama wanting to have filthy ***** laura bush come to their defense! Kinky Friedman once said: "the republican and the democrat, are the same guy looking at himself in the mirror", and you've gotta wonder what he must know that we don't!

- radiofrequency, on 08/15/2008, -17/+7Here's another lie - or let's just call it an inaccurate rebuttal - from the Obama's campaign book, "Unfit for Publication". Turn to page 11, where Obama claims Corsi is telling a lie when he writes, "“Even as Kenya entered this postelection violence, Senator Obama has continued to insert himself into Kenyan politics.”"
The Obama campaign response: "SECRETARY RICE ASKED OBAMA TO TAPE A RADIO ADDRESS"
The reality: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14512605/
Fri., Aug. 25, 2006
NAIROBI, Kenya - Hundreds of U.S. Embassy employees and their families cheered and sang to greet Sen. Barack Obama after he met Friday with President Mwai Kibaki during Obama’s first trip to his father’s homeland since taking office.
I'm just curious, would a tourist visiting "his father's homeland" get a meeting with that nation's president without being involved in Kenyan politics?- malex, on 08/15/2008, -2/+6Sure, if that tourist was famous and/or influential enough. Does that surprise you?
- stagmire, on 08/15/2008, -3/+6"would a tourist visiting "his father's homeland" get a meeting with that nation's president without being involved in Kenyan politics?"
If the "tourist" is a US senator and hugely popular author of Kenyan descent? Sure. Was Yakov Smirnoff "getting involved in US politics" when he met with Ronald Reagan?
- radiofrequency, on 08/15/2008, -14/+9p15 from "Unfit for Publication" calls this statement a lie: “Sol Stern, a contributing editor of Chicago’s City Journal, has observed that ... the impression of Ayers’s good citizenship is incorrect.”

- stagmire, on 08/15/2008, -3/+22Republicans can't seem to make up their minds about Michelle Obama. One minute she's a militant, Stokely Carmichael-quoting black activist, the next minute she's an wealthy, pampered, dilettante lawyer.
Which is it, guys? Sidley Austin doesn't recruit too many black panthers, ya know.- TinternAbbot, on 08/15/2008, -9/+3she's clearly not a dilettante if she's harvard educated. Do you even know what the word means? A better example of a dilettante would be her husband when it comes to foreign policy affairs.
- stagmire, on 08/15/2008, -1/+7But I thought she was just an affirmative action admit who used her Princeton education to write a bunch of radical mumbo jumbo. You're saying she's actually sophisticated an intelligent now?
- mrtymcfly, on 08/15/2008, -13/+0she is a benefactor of affirmative action. her 'thesis' at princeton was a HS level paper about how it is living as a black woman. whop ti friggan dooooo.
- stagmire, on 08/15/2008, -2/+8What confuses me is how she nonetheless landed a job at a prestigious corporate law firm and represented a bunch of fortune 500 companies in important matters. Do AT&T and Union Carbide routinely hire incompetent lawyers to represent them in hostile takeover bids?
- mrtymcfly, on 08/15/2008, -6/+1a diploma from princeton goes a long way my friend.
- stagmire, on 08/15/2008, -1/+11A diploma from Princeton doesn't automatically land you a job at Sidley Austin, which pays 1st year associates $160k/yr + $30k bonus. The average Princeton grad makes half that much. They pay their summer associates - second year law students - $3k/week. Annual pay raises at Sidley Austin are about 15%/yr, so after 3 years her base salary would have been well over $200k.
Michelle Obama not only got hired by Sidley, she got staffed on major projects representing Forture 100 companies in high stakes corporate endeavors. Care to name any other radical black activists who have done the same thing? Johnny Cochran started out as an assistant state's attorney making less than 1/4 Michelle Obama's starting salary. - jsmith39, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3Not that she was but.. by your statement you're saying that people who were helped out by or took advantage of affirmative action automatically don't count? I'm not a big fan of AA but there was and in some cases is a need for it. It would be better that the program was created and then ignored?
- corncat, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1Um, the two aren't contradictory.
- TinternAbbot, on 08/15/2008, -9/+3she's clearly not a dilettante if she's harvard educated. Do you even know what the word means? A better example of a dilettante would be her husband when it comes to foreign policy affairs.

Obama FISA bill vote stole your 4th Amendment right how far do you want to take this he is just as dangerous as Bush. Obama is simply more suttle. Obama signing off on the FISA bill was disgusting and I don't understand his action on that, but that does not make it HIS bill, it was a Republican sponsored bill, and simply the latest in a long string of Republican bills aimed at ripped the heart out of this country. - repins, on 08/15/2008, -3/+2Comparing him to Hitler is just sensationalism.....Obama is a Socialist of the highest order though...
Not only does he want to take away money people earned and give it to people in the USA, he wants to give it to other countries on a grand scale as well with the "Global Poverty Act"
Obama balancing the budget is a pipe dream given the about of addition Government spending he wants, regardless of how much he raises taxes on the "rich"

...or are you saying its a "great rebuttal" ....without having even looked at what its rebutting?? - VitriolAndAngst, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4It will make its way into the media -- kind of how the think tank documents filter in.
Reporters sometimes take sides -- but a lot of time, they are just there to cover the fight. If one candidate throws a punch, they want to report the block or counterpunch.
Obama's response then, is more likely to become the story, than the "Obama Nation" screed. That's the point. The news cycle is just hungry for nonsense to fill the hours.
Heck, they've been reporting McCain's ramblings as if they were news for weeks now. It's got to filter down to the general public the huge difference between the two, especially when you have sharp, timely, and thoughtful rebuttals like this.
- roddack, on 08/15/2008, -3/+7*sigh* I hate elections they turn into nothing but attacks against each party and no one wants to talk about real issues like fiat currency or our "fantastic" foreign policy. Fear mongers are scared that he will be a tax and spend "librul" but i hate to break it to you, Under Bush my taxes didn't change but inflation killed me more than any of the largest democrat tax increases ever and we have a trillion dollar war we have yet to pay for and a deficit a mile high, how could we NOT increase taxes?- roddack, on 08/15/2008, -1/+3Simple get off fiat currency

The organizations you have listed have been identifying McCain's lies and inconsistencies. I don't think anyone would call that smearing him. Even McCain's camp doesn't say they are smears. You might not like the truth, but that doesn't make it a smear. The stuff about Obama is lies and ridiculous misrepresentations of who he is and what he has said. That is a smear.
