- cashman57, on 04/17/2008, -3/+9I guess he didn't realize that people who are not "bitter" are also concerned with their security and the security of the Nation.
He missed out when he claimed rural Americans were clinging to anti-immigrant opinions and that simply is not true. Most of us have a history of immigration but we want the people who come here to do it legally. It is ILLEGAL immigration that troubles Americans and his failure to notice those things shows he is out of touch with the average American and would be soundly defeated in the event he's the Dem nominee. - 140Suffolk, on 04/17/2008, -1/+10And people don't like being looked down upon.
- cashman57, on 04/17/2008, -1/+6Exactly
- letgeorge, on 04/17/2008, -1/+9Stick a fork in him. He's done.
- bohemianowl, on 04/17/2008, -1/+8It's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
translation: Real patriots don't like globalist traitors who undermine our sovereignty and constitution (like Obama).- cashman57, on 04/17/2008, -1/+5I agree, and I think more people are starting to see him for what he is.
I don't understand why the Democrat party has allowed their nomination process to come down to two globalist warmongers who think they are being elected the leader of the free world and put the globalist agenda above what is good for our Nation.

- DeathWish808, on 04/17/2008, -1/+6I hope people start seeing him for what he really is. He got this far because he's a great speaker and had money to back him. I honestly don't care for any of the candidates. Bring Huckabee back. They all have their issues, but I think he was sincere. OK, now go ahead and bash me. :-)
- cashman57, on 04/17/2008, -1/+4My main problem with Huckabee was his insistence on prosecuting people who use marijuana medicinally in states with compassionate use exceptions for medical marijuana and who were following the advice of their physician.
To me this is a huge waste of time and resources and simply unamerican.
Obama has made some indication he would stop wasting time and money prosecuting these people but the trade-off is the loss of our right to security. That price is too high.

- MCBowelmovement, on 04/17/2008, -3/+3Wow. Someone says something that has a little bit of truth to it, and people flip out. I can see you guys like your truth the good 'ol fashioned way, as lies.
- cashman57, on 04/17/2008, -1/+2I can see you would rather insult than actually read the article and make an intelligent coment.
- ashok, on 04/17/2008, -1/+4I don't endorse Senator Obama's Presidential campaign in any way, but I think the big story here is that the WND columnist should be correct, but isn't. We don't see Obama's appeal eroding in the Democratic party, and quite frankly there are plenty of religious apeople and gun-owners there who should be offended.
The truth is more complicated than this: somehow, he's able to keep us obsessing over these petty issues while saying absolutely nothing substantive about how he's going to run the country. That's very worrisome, as is the idea that this election news cycle is producing informed, thoughtful voters. It looks like all this media has indeed "educated" the American people - they think "yes we can" is deep stuff now and cannot discuss any policy issue without bringing up conspiracy theories of the worst sort.- cashman57, on 04/17/2008, -1/+4Here is his plan
When I am President, we will wage the war that has to be won, with a comprehensive strategy with five elements: getting out of Iraq and on to the right battlefield in Afghanistan and Pakistan...........The first step must be getting off the wrong battlefield in Iraq, and taking the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan. .........That is why my plan would maintain sufficient forces in the region to target al Qaeda within Iraq......As President, I would deploy at least two additional brigades to Afghanistan..........As President, I would increase our non-military aid by $1 billion. ..............As 9/11 showed us, the security of Afghanistan and America is shared......This is the wild frontier of our globalized world.......If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won’t act, we will. ........... the second step in my strategy will be to build our capacity and our partnerships to track down, capture or kill terrorists around the world,............We need to recruit, train, and equip our armed forces to better target terrorists, and to help foreign militaries to do the same........I will also strengthen our intelligence....This is not just about our security. It is about the common security of all the world.
As President, I will create a Shared Security Partnership Program to forge an international intelligence and law enforcement infrastructure to take down terrorist networks from the remote islands ofIndonesia, to the sprawling cities of Africa.........And that is why, as President, I will lead a global effort to secure all nuclear weapons and material at vulnerable sites ...........I will double our annual investments to meet these challenges to $50 billion by 2012. And I will support a $2 billion Global Education Fund .........In the first 100 days of my Administration, I will travel to a major Islamic forum and deliver an address to redefine our struggle.........
http://www.cfr.org/publication/13974/- ashok, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4It sounds good, but the true test of a leader is if he makes his followers better, if they are able to articulate this.
When W. ran in 2000, I could tell you about Rumsfeld and the idea of reforming the military wholly before it was attempted. I could also have told you about the No Child Left Behind thing and tax cuts. That was while I paid minimal attention to practical politics.
People are paying lots of attention to Obama, and many of the more sensible ones have concluded that this is a lot of fluff. Good luck with the global message and visiting Islamic forums - I'm sure that will guarantee peace in our time.

- punditious1, on 04/17/2008, -2/+4Obama is the least American candidate. And the most Communist candidate. The fact that he seems to still have at least a quarter of the American people either duped or proud to vote for him means we are dangerously close to losing this country altogether.
I think we need a peaceful geographical division of the country so the people who cling to the ideals of liberty, individuality, and nationalism and oppose the socialist nanny state will not have to take up arms to reassert their God-given rights under the Constitution. Because that's where this divisiveness is going to take us.
