- ssn697, on 12/18/2007, -1/+49I hope vote manipulation gets a LOT of airplay in the primaries.
- wonderchemist, on 12/18/2007, -1/+18It won't unless hackers are smart enough to make a 3rd party candidate win.
- ssn697, on 12/18/2007, -1/+8I am rooting for something like a Duncan Hunter 77% win in a primary. A percent or two swing among front runners will just keep the bitching alive, nothing more.
- toasty168, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1as soon as someone does, whoreperate media will hand them a tin foil hat.

- Snarfy, on 12/18/2007, -0/+9I know, and I dugg you up, but most people don't have a clue what that means.
- NewGTGuy, on 12/18/2007, -0/+12There is ZERO audit trail.
Can you say:
update Election
set Votes = 1000000
where Candidate = 'neocon *****'
- meshman, on 12/18/2007, -6/+74Maybe they should ban the use of the caps lock key first.
- aliengoods, on 12/18/2007, -1/+25WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. THIS IS MUCH EASIER THAN HOLDING THE SHIFT KEY.
But it does make me look like and obnoxious *****. - ngmcs8203, on 12/18/2007, -0/+4Whenever I read a headline, or anything for that matter, with all caps it reminds me of the Weekend Update skit when Will Ferrell's character talks about voice immodulation.
- tendonut, on 12/18/2007, -0/+3Whenever I read a headline, or anything for that matter, with all caps it reminds me of stupid 6th graders trying to sound like what they have to say is important.

- hazmat78, on 12/18/2007, -0/+5Last summer Diebold tried to sell off it's voting machine branch (with no takers, I might add), so they decided to spin it off and rename it (hummm, bad name affecting their banking business?). Here's an InnerTube news parody on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEP3E4QQvUk

- Frostman3D, on 12/18/2007, -1/+10I hope they ban all computerized voting equipment.
- snatchmstr, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Like there won't be any fraud if people have to manually count ballots.
- Munkey106, on 12/18/2007, -2/+55DIGG TO BAN OF BAD GRAMMAR?
- cespee, on 12/18/2007, -0/+20At least you get a written receipt when you buy a chalupa at Taco Bell.
- Mononuclear, on 12/18/2007, -0/+8except I always order a Gordita and they give me a Chalupa instead. Sometimes the receipt has the Gordita on it, and sometimes it has a Chalupa on it.
- jaymzdean, on 12/18/2007, -0/+5We're still using paper money and counting by hand with no problems, what's wrong with paper ballots, hand counted?
- gudnbluts, on 12/18/2007, -4/+1Yeah, because it's completely impossible to tamper with paper.
- Mononuclear, on 12/18/2007, -4/+2The majority of the money in the world is not paper and not counted by hand. Most transactions occur electronically.
- mOdQuArK, on 12/18/2007, -1/+3Ask the hanging chads & mismarked bubbles. Using a machine to generate a ballot isn't a bad idea. Using machines to count the ballots is.
- PerriF, on 12/18/2007, -0/+3What's amusing is that voters of a "certain age" will be quite confused..what a shame!
- stalefries, on 12/18/2007, -7/+4DIGG USERS DON'T MIND ALL-CAPS (CAPITAL LETTERS) HEADLINES?

SYSTEM FAILURE - clak, on 12/18/2007, -2/+42Dr. Dre, banned from Ohio? Damn.
- tendonut, on 12/18/2007, -7/+3Oh no! Rappers will have to actually create their own beats. What's next? Will they have to write their own lyrics? *****, before you know it, Rappers will have to become creative.
- bebop717, on 12/18/2007, -0/+4I may not be a fan of rap but still…your retarded. It's like saying collage is not art because they don't shoot all those photos.
- tendonut, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Thats a bad example. The artist still has to create the collage, even if the photos were not taken by themselves.
- bebop717, on 12/18/2007, -0/+4I may not be a fan of rap but still…your retarded. It's like saying collage is not art because they don't shoot all those photos.

- Sonizel, on 12/18/2007, -0/+5Dre is a true pioneer of rap.
- seraph582, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1But nothin comes out when they move they lips, just a bunch of gibberish - the ***** act like they forgot about Dre.

- IllBeBack, on 12/18/2007, -8/+6DIGG TO BAN OF ALL CAPS RETARDS?
- bingobongony, on 12/18/2007, -5/+2Let's list how many ways this title is annoying.
- whyufail, on 12/18/2007, -8/+2I GET ATTENTION WITH LARGE CAPITAL LETTERS!
- onetimer, on 12/18/2007, -0/+6Correct me if I am mistaken, but in any state that uses Electronic voting machines, can't you request to vote on a paper ballot?
- GoKings, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Yeah, but everyone does computers these days. Most people are drawn to the simple format, the graphics that help you understand what to do (this is aimed at you Florida), and just the relative coolness of using a touch screen computer. (I know... But old folks don't get to use this stuff often)
- swiftheart, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1With some work, yes. For instance, many states (such as Ohio) have "no fault absentee" voting so you could just request a paper mail in ballot and vote that way.
On election day, at the polls, is a different matter. There's no requirement in Ohio law to furnish a person with a paper ballot if they choose not to vote on the DRE. However, provisional ballots are no longer cast on the DRE, they are cast on paper instead.
So if you really wanted, you could force your vote to be cast provisionally so you vote on paper. This could be done by saying you forgot your ID at home....and using the last four of your SSN as ID, or taking the "no ID" oath. - ladalang, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1No, I tried and was told I had to vote on the machines. They should provide a paper ballot but they don't
- chriskzoo, on 12/18/2007, -1/+1Gee, seems like an unbiased review, FTA:
"Coming in the state that decided the 2004 election for George W. Bush, Brunner's confirmation of the electoral system's vulnerabilities adds huge new weight to the charge that the Buckeye State's vote count was stolen." - NeoSporin, on 12/18/2007, -5/+3Whats an Ohio?
- silentphoenix, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2i like the fact that theres more attention to the title than the article itself

- mrASSMAN, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2since when do they run windows?
- vertexoflife, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1They use Windows Access on the machines.

- redsrule2500, on 12/18/2007, -6/+1Good! Now maybe in 08 a republican candidate can win rather than the disgustingly liberal 06 ohio election! :D
- treas, on 12/18/2007, -1/+5I thought Ohio wanted to ban Dr. Dre

- moin1097, on 12/18/2007, -1/+1I suppose somebody has to.
- tendonut, on 12/18/2007, -2/+1I'd like to meet a person who thinks these machines are too complex. PRESS THE NAME OF THE PERSON YOU WANT TO VOTE FOR! Damnit, this is hard! You damn kids with your fancy computers!
The people who think these are hard to understand are probably the same people who call me up when trying to buy something online and ask me what they should put for "Address"- RickyBennett, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2un thay are being hacked not by taking it about moding it then calling it hacked but hacked the real way via software and codes and memory card that are in them
- JasonCox, on 12/18/2007, -1/+2I dont know about anyone else, but I consider it alot easier to "hack" the current system than electronic voting machines.
- peaceofpie, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1I think when they count by hand there are members of all parties to judge the votes. How can anyone look at what is inside of a computer?
- Eleo, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1If you read Greg Palast's Armed Madhouse you'll find out that you can just as easily throw away your vote using a paper ballots for a number of reasons, such as outdated equipment and lack of devices that verify the validity of the of your ballot (not that they don't exist, they're just not available where it is convenient for them to not be available.) That said, getting rid of electronic voting machines may help but it could just as easily hinder if they are replaced by less user-friendly voting methods. That's why I am suspicious when it appears that progress is being made in this area because sometimes it's really just a method of giving people a false sense of security.
- rglover, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1As an Ohio voter, this is both good and bad news. Good because it will help to prevent election fraud and bad because a lot of voters will bitch because they just got used to the system.
- moin1097, on 12/18/2007, -1/+1How many people have given up on Vista?

- moin1097, on 12/18/2007, -2/+1Three words: La La Land.
- sjmorton, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1I stand corrected: the rightful President, Al Gore, would certainly have won re-election had Ohio's vote count not been rigged.
- moin1097, on 12/18/2007, -2/+1Three words: La La Land.
- rheaume, on 12/18/2007, -1/+1I SPEAK IN CAPS SO EVERYONE MUST LISTEN TO MEEEEE

- caffeine43, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1If electronic voting is the only option in your area, can you simply file an absentee ballot so that your vote cannot be electronic?

FOR THIS I WILL LOOK AT THE POSTERS HISTORY ON DIGG AND BURY EVERY ONE OF HIS SUBMISSIONS.
BURIED!!!!!!!!! - badrasi, on 12/18/2007, -0/+0THERE IS NO NEED TO BAN THESE MACHINES NOW, THE PRESIDENT HAS DONE EVERY EACH ILLEGAL THING WHICH THESE MACHINES SUPPOSE TO PREVENT US FROM PSYCHO BUSH
- mph66, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Title is living proof that Americans are illiterate bastards who cannot write in the only language they speak.
- FlyCO, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2Most of states at Brazil use a similar voting system.
oh ***** - Niubai, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Brazil has electronic voting system since what ? 1996 ? And the system is safe, never went on trouble or raised questions about vote safety and legitimate one single time.
