Fomenting contempt for or ridicule of your opponent is one thing, but to engage in a campaign that uses deliberate lies to foment fear and hate for you opponent is so low that words like contemptible, abhorrent, scummy, odious, cowardly, shameful, dishonorable, detestable, and wretched all seem to fall short. It isn't going take much to draw a straight line between any violence targeted at President Obama and these tactics of the McCain campaign, all John McCain has managed to do is poison the well to make it more difficult for the nation to come together after the election.
John McCain, you are the son and grandson of admirals, you were a war hero who spent five years as a prisoner of war, you have served your state in the United States Congress for over twenty five years. But make no mistake, this campaign is your legacy. Are you proud of it? - bobhiggins, on 10/10/2008, -0/+12We have these knuckleheads or their genetic brethren here in Dayton. They are normally laughable in their sublime ignorance, but, when they are incited into a lynch mob by opportunistic filth like Palin and McCain, they can be scary. Like members of any mob they are meek and cowardly as individuals, but put them in a group with access to alcohol, drugs and inflammatory speakers and, doggone it, you've got yourself a family reunion.

This is why our country in going down in flames as a world power...we shun what is different, requiring the rest of the world to lick our boots for favor while china and india patiently steam forward in their seemingly inevitable path to eclipse us. palin and mccain ARE terrorists because they have used the average american's terror of the unknown, to anesthetize them to the fact that the GOP has never been the party of the working person. the are moved to vote time and again for those that would rain bricks on the house of cards that the middle class now shelters under. i feel a deep shame for these peoples' words...i hope someday they do too.
