- davidg11, on 01/28/2008, -5/+8I think what scares me about a mormon president is that any mormon MUST do what their prophet tells them to do. So this is unlike other religions like say the catholic church where the pope isn't considered their prophet. The mormon prophet can say "hey, guess what? God just told me to tell you to do this" and Romney would have to do it. Let me put it this way...the mormon "prophet" is supposed to have as much power as Moses in that he directly speaks to God and God speaks to him (so he claims). That's a HUGE problem if you're a president of the USA bound by the whim of God's prophet. Isn't it? I'm really suprised the media doesn't pick up on this fact. You can't claim seperation of church and state if you are bound by your religion to follow whatever God tells you to do via this prophet.
- ColeAsh, on 01/28/2008, -5/+5Really good article, what's up with all the question marks though. Maybe Prison Planet can fix it up?
It's freakin scary if Romney wins the election after reading this. I didn't have a clue about half of that stuff!
Thanks for posting! Hadn't seen anything like this on the web - then again most mainstream crap is filtered and wouldn't
dare touch a topic like this and covered like this as well. - Oxford123, on 01/28/2008, -5/+4Sweet article, good to see something different on Prison Planet. Issues like this deserve more coverage.
Peace - directive, on 01/28/2008, -6/+6Both of the comments and the article here show the ignorance of the people writing them. The Article and the comments show that the people writing them need to do some research, especially the person who wrote this article.
(I am not a fan of Mitt Romney's Politics, but we share the same beliefs, I will be voting for Ron Paul, he is the best canidate we have at this time.)
Problems with article include quoting Ed Decker, who made him a authority on mormonism? He left the church over 25 years ago and made a money Called the God Makers, which contains many falsehoods or distorts mormon beliefs, like God and Satan are brothers. If you actually do some reasearch at www.fairlds.org you may find out what exactly LDS people really believe about Jesus and Lucifer being brothers. Ed Decker is slick in his propaganda, and it contains a lot of truth with falsehoods.
I encourage everyone to visit www.fairlds.org and do some research, i believe you will find information that will better explain the LDS faith from believers who have answered questions for years.

I would kindly have to say, neither does the writer of the article, they distort LDS beliefs and a lot of the article contains falsehoods or misrepresentations.
If you are a Christian, how would you like people saying things about you that you know are distorted or simply not true? Probably not too happy.
Take Care - chargedmon1158, on 01/29/2008, -4/+5Sorry Directive, but the writer was on the spot to the T. I know for a fact the Mormon Church believes in that stuff.
The author wrote what I feel is the truth. And you saying that Ed Decker isn't an authority makes me laugh. He's the foremost speaker on Mormonism. Ridiculous!- directive, on 01/29/2008, -3/+3Ed Decker, the foremost speaker of Mormonism? More like a propogandist who teaches many falsehoods about the LDS faith. Many Christian Faiths even in the Salt Lake City have come out denouncing the actions of Ed Decker and his movies, i encourage you to do your home work on other sites, as i have read plenty of both sides to know what Ed Decker says is flat out lies or misrepresentations. Ed Decker is no source of Mormonism, sit down and read the book, "The truth about the God Makers", you can find it on amazon.com
- libertyfriend, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1Ed Decker is not an authority on Mormonism. Nice try.

I LIKE BILL SCHNOEBELEN AND ED DECKER - THOSE WHO DON'T LIKE THEM ARE EITHER IGNORANT
OR MORMONS.- directive, on 01/29/2008, -1/+2I as with other Christian faiths who know all about Ed Decker and his works denounce his works as misrepresenations of the LDS faith. Those who accuse others of being ignorant may want to look at there own knowledge and rethink there position.
- PocketShl, on 01/29/2008, -5/+3It's about time the Mormons get slammed dunk like this! Freakin bad ass article!

There you will find out that Ed Decker does not have his facts straight on the LDS faith. Quoting him shows your level of Knowledge on those who are anti-mormon.
I figure most Christians would feel the same way if there faith is misrepresented by someone else.- PocketShl, on 01/29/2008, -2/+3You're just a freakin Mormon who is spamming this article. Mormons just hate Ed Decker because he's an apostate and that's one of the 5 unpardonable sins in the LDS Church.
Are you going to do blood atonement to save Decker's life? He's got to be saved by rifle shooting, right? Ha, the stuff Mormons believe in makes me laugh! Decker is credible and he's a major threat to the LDS Church and that's why they're out smearing his name and reputation.- nriedel, on 01/29/2008, -0/+3Most people that leave the church just can't leave it alone.

Joseph Smith was a Mason before becoming a "prophet" gaining followers and a political force, he and his followers were driven out of town after town and in one he was JAILED, "hail brutha brigham" and his buddies got Joseph Smith killed in an attempted jailbreak and the Mormons were being chased out by the "state militia" (every man with a gun or pitchfork). they ran WEST, losing a lot of men defending the rear.. "hail brutha brigham" gets a revelation from GOD that polygamy is great. this "genius" eventually takes them to high rocky desert no mans land with a SALT LAKE that ya cant even drink. when the people had developed it enough to be worthy of attention for statehood, but the government wasnt going to have any of this polygamy stuff, is when "hail brutha brigham" conveniently has another revelation that polygamy is no longer needed, this caused division within the "church" because naturally a lot of guys were spoiled 'legally' having the variety of poontang GOD had previously provided. this is only SOME of what a cult mormonism really IS. - ronpaul4me, on 01/29/2008, -1/+2LighteningQuin: I'm a Mormon from Australia. I have no idea who Ed Decker is, so I have nothing against him even if he is an apostate. And by the way, being an Apostate or excommunicated member is not one of the "5 unpardonable sins", in fact I've never heard of the "5 unpardonable sins" in all my 30 odd years of membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (to use it's correct name). Maybe you could enlighten us as to what the other 4 are?
Helena212: If your so 99% in agreement with the things in the article. Maybe you could provide references and links to legitimate research for all the UNREFERENCED hogwash that the article contains.
Chargedmon1158: You know for a fact? Maybe you too could provide your sources and references. Let me tell you that as a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints. I'm the one who knows for a fact that just about everything in the article is false, misleading, taken out of context or distorted truth.
Davidg11: The President and Prophet who leads our church receives revelation FOR THE CHURCH. Not for individuals, and definitely not for Mitt Romney. Can you imagine what would happen to the church if they affiliated themselves with Mitt and he did something wrong. No, the church is not going to take that chance. What any president of the US does as president has nothing to do with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saint.
To those who applauded prison planet: How dare you applaud Prisonplanet (one of my favorite web sits for alternative news) when, in posting this article, they are being hypocrites. On the one hand they denounce anyone who smears Ron Paul (my favorite candidate, even though I can't vote for him because I'm not US) then on the other they blatantly post such outrageous lies about someone who I care less about. It doesn't matter that I hate Mitt. But it does matter that the article is riddled with lies about my church.
Directive: good comments in words nicer than I can write.
peace. - Observant1, on 01/29/2008, -2/+1Mormon structure: good mormons have many children to be raised in the faith, the mormons pay 10% of income in tithing (church tax) to fund elaborate pretensious temples a lot more than help their own people, Oakland CA a prime example, on a clear day it can be seen for 50 miles from near anywhere in the Bay Area. when the boys are of age theyre sent out with a buddy on bicycles to spread the word and gain more followers, more 10% tithing, girls of age usually marry older guys who aint gonna be gone on a 2 year "tour of duty". funny how that works. true also is that people of color were not allowed to hold the preisthood. I remember it as a kid, in 1977-8 is when they had a "convenient revelation" allowing people of color to hold the Aaronic preisthood, and if I'm not mistaken, they still reserve the higher level Melchezdic preisthood from being attained, all based on skin color. it isnt like this is ancient history.
- Observant1, on 01/29/2008, -2/+1the Mormons are also very active with the BSA, Boy Scouts of America, which was actually founded in the UK for prepping youth to be good citizens, resourceful, capable, and good soldiers. not a particularly BAD thing overall, but as a kid I was in a Mormon troop where 8-9 out of 10 meetings with 4 different Mormon scoutmasters, we were "led" to read from the Book of Mormon, NOT the Boy Scout Manual. was this just coincidentally bad management or deliberate and wrongful indoctrination? when I spent my own allowance on some pegboard, rope, and wire to make a knot tying display board and earn my merit badge, I got signed off to be allowed to purchase the badge for myself, and the "scoutmaster" decided to just keep MY display to hang on the wall of their den. THEY never did anything but read from the Book of Mormon, do they have a speial merit badge for that? I dont think so.
- mgvincent, on 01/29/2008, -1/+2I must say “Mitt Romney’s Bizarre Beliefs” authored by Sonia Uribe shows a shabby display of journalistic integrity. This article lacks substantiated sources as it relies on the opinions of two or three individuals with an obvious axe to grind. It fails to be balanced, as it never once gives the other side a chance to clarify its point of view. It is so full of blatant falsehoods that it’s not worth spending time trying to correct them all. In essence, this article borders on slander.
Howbeit, as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as a Christian (yes, you heard right, I accept Christ as my Savior), as a true patriot in the tradition of the Founding Fathers, and as a friend of the Constitution, I will defend this “author” her right of free speech. But the promotion of grave falsehoods violates the very foundations of this great Republic—the Ten Commandments. Perhaps you recall God commanding His followers, “Thou shalt not bear false witness?”
Uribe relies upon “Staggering revelations from ex Mormon insiders”. There are no “Mormon insiders.” Anyone is free to visit any Church meetinghouse and Visitor Center. They are free to ask questions of any member of the Church. All doctrines of the Church are available on line (www.lds.org, www.mormon.org), in a library, in a bookstore, or from any member. These are contained in four standard works, including The King James Bible. There are no other secret, mysterious, or “occultic” doctrines to be had.
Members of the Church are not trying to take over anything. Quite the contrary, they want to live in peace, enjoy the fruits of their labors, and enjoy the blessings of liberty. The doctrines of the Church abhor any tyrannical movement anywhere in the world. For instance during the Cold War, Church leaders presented some of the most vehement opposition to the communist movement. You are free to read former Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Taft Benson’s writings such as An Enemy Hath Done This, or perhaps Cleon Skousen’s The Naked Communist and The Naked Capitalist, for a sampling.
We honor, respect, and revere the Constitution of the United States of America. We gladly join with all others who also love that document, its guiding principles, and our remarkable Founding Fathers. The comments of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young alluded to in the article are taken out of context and distorted. Basically they were calls to action to members of the Church (and all others) to support, defend, and protect the Constitution then as today. We can surely see that the Constitution is indeed hanging by a thread and we ALL need to do our part to save it.
The United Order is not a form of communism. In the early days of the Church (1830s and 1840s) it was an attempt to live as the ancient Christians lived as recorded in Acts 2:44-45. The United Order was a program to support the poor and required a personal commitment to abandon the things of the world. However, because of the imperfections of human beings, it didn’t work and was discontinued.
Mormons do not control the food supply. Big agribusiness does. Mormons stress self-reliance and have lead the charge of family food storage. This is particularly good advice since whoever controls the food supply can control the people if they are hungry. Yet, Mormons are quite generous, contributing tens of millions of tons of food and clothing all over the world to anyone in need. We don’t look on the blessings of heaven as our own, but as an obligation to share what we have with all of God’s children.
Some do not think Mormons are Christians because we do not put crosses on our chapels. They therefore imagine that we are some evil, dark, sinister cult bent on taking over the world. These of course are lies. One reason there are no crosses, is to us the cross represents the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. We prefer to focus on the living resurrected Savior of mankind. We also believe in a restored Church as the Lord organized it among His apostles—not as a reformed church as others have attempted to do over the years. The bottom line, like other Christians, we worship Christ and strive to live His teachings as contained in the New Testament.
Obviously, these “Mormon insiders” don’t know how the Church operates. The president of the Church (whom we call a prophet) is the most senior living apostle. These apostles comprise a First Presidency of three, and a Quorum of Twelve. By the time the most senior apostle obtains the office of presidency he has served as an apostle for decades. That makes Mitt Romney ineligible to become both president of the Church and president of the United States. The danger of a dictator is not from Romney, but from others who are documented members of subversive groups.
There is more I can say about this distorted article, but I will refrain. I will, however, say that regardless of the beliefs of Mormons they do not vote en masse. In fact, the official position of the Church is political neutrality. There are Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, independents, and all other parties represented among the LDS membership in America. Likewise, members of the Church in other lands are affiliated with other political parties in their countries. Here at home, some will vote for Romney, some won’t. That’s the American way. And the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has always supported that.
I, for one, will vote for Ron Paul.
May God bless you my friends, and the United States of America. - whatisreal, on 01/29/2008, -1/+2The Prison Planet article about Mitt Romney is loaded with twisted half-truths and mostly outright lies. I don’t want Romney to be President, he’s part of the system and part of the problem. But lying about his religion does nothing to help the liberty/Ron Paul cause. This is the kind of infighting that Alex Jones complains about, what’s disappointing this time is that one of his websites started it. Watch Ron Paul’s second appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and see what Paul says about Romney’s Mormonism — it should be a non-issue just like Ron Paul’s particular sect is a non-issue.
Want to know what Mormons believe about government? Read the writings of W. Cleon Skousen on the Constitution. Ron Paul still refers to Skousens work for clarification of Constitutional issues. Read “The Proper Role of Government” by Ezra Taft Benson. Many Mormons are not “awake” to NWO issues (just like many people in — or out — of other religions are also not awake to these issues) but that has nothing to do with “Mormonism” and everything to do with our corrupt government, media, elite, etc. There is no secret Mormon communist takeover conspiracy. That accusation is so false and wrong it’s hilarious — except for the fact that so many ignorant people are ready to believe it. Prison Planet should pull this story off their site and issue an apology.
Want to know what this Mormon (and many others) REALLY thinks about Mitt Romney and Ron Paul? Go to my blog:
http://nyletterpress.wordpress.com/ - libertyfriend, on 01/29/2008, -1/+2Why on Earth Prisonplanet.com would peddle such lies as these when the a large number of their support base (and Ron Paul's support base) are Mormon, I have no idea. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
This article makes me greatly disappointed in the entire Alex Jones network. Normally I'm a huge fan, today I'm disgusted. They are lies and distortions, make no mistake. Obviously Mitt Romney is not at all versed on Constitutional principles nor does he appear concerned with them, and I will not support him in his presidential bid. But he should not be seen as the representative of the church.
Study the life and words of our late leader Gordon B. Hinckley, or those before him like Ezra T. Benson, or David O. McKay. These men were truly freedom fighters and friends of liberty—like many of the LDS faithful. Anyone who would accept this disgraceful article without studying the real voices of Mormonism are simply easily manipulated and allowing themselves to be tossed to and fro by the waves of multiplied ignorance.- libertyfriend, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1I appreciated how Alex Jones clarified on his radio show today the fact that this anti-Mormon article doesn't represent his opinion.

The author of this article simply used the Romney issue to advance their anti-Mormon agenda.
