- thirdcoastborn, on 05/21/2008, -3/+2The following are the ten most dangerous groups in America today:
1.The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormonism).
A very subtle, spiritual deception started in 1830 by Joseph Smith. This aggressively evangelistic group contends that it is the only true Church, and that all Christians outside Mormonism are following a deficient Gospel and a false Christ.
2. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (Jehovah's Witnesses).
3. The Church of Scientology.
4. The Twelve Tribes.
5. The Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity (Unification Church).
6. The International Churches of Christ (Boston Movement).
7. The Family (Children of God).
8. Christian Identity Movement (Aryan Nations, Christian Identity Church, Klu Klux Klan, etc.).
9. The Nation of Islam.
10. United Pentecostal Church (UPC).- cquinnd, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1That you left out PNAC or any of the more prominent lobbying groups is telling.
- jforjools, on 05/22/2008, -0/+2Hey, I'm all thumbs down with any GOP-related these days.
But I really think this just doesn't belong (from my point of view).
I think all the brooha over Wright was out of place...and also the wrong accusations about Obama being Muslim. (And it would've been out of place if Obama even had been Muslim--which most apparently is not.)
Now I DO agree with Obama rejecting Farakan's endorsement and/or 'help'.
...How about McCain does the SAME thing w Hagee????
(According to McCain, Hagee is NOT his spiritual advisor--but is a **political endorsement** that was sought out BY McCain and embraced by McCain.)- thirdcoastborn, on 05/22/2008, -1/+2i felt the same way at first before i posted it but then went ahead and submitted it because of the simple fact that while hagee and wright may have said some stupid stuff, it was just their remarks not their religious affiliation being brought up. their different denominations aren't considered cults. the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints (mormonism) is. in fact it's considered the most dangerous of all of them. it is an issue. (in my opinion)
open for discussion...- jforjools, on 05/22/2008, -0/+3I figured that's why you posted it.
And it does fit if someone believes the Wright ***** is so important, then they'd be upset about this kind of thing too. (And yes, having been raised w/ a fundamental-Christian background, you are correct that these folks consider LDS to indeed be a 'cult'.)
Unforunately, those who would be upset about a VP being an LDS are probably already inundated with fear that Obama is a muslim.
