- TheTaoOfBill, on 11/06/2007, -10/+119Holy crap! That is absolutely genius! Was this really on SNL? I haven't watched the show in years but there has to be some funny people working there if they came up with this. It's so simple yet so funny. And I am glad that we are finally getting to the point where we can look at this idiots and just laugh at them!
- webcrumb, on 10/16/2007, -20/+8I don't understand what people were laughing at. I'm scared that such an approach not only gets taken seriously but actually has legs. Plus, how exactly is he going to monitor Al-Qaeda calls into the US - does he already know who they are? No? Then how?
(Plus, loving your last sentence)- bunkybrewman, on 10/16/2007, -18/+3They're laughing because they hear only what they wish to hear.
Please remember that TOLERANCE for religious beliefs applies to everyone. Any individual who infringes on your rights because of theirs is not tolerant of your belief system.- Charlotte_Web, on 10/16/2007, -1/+9That was the stupidest thing I've seen in a while. Compared to this, the Star Wars Trumpet Girl video is Oscar-worthy.

- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/17/2007, -0/+21Damn...I was about to start watching the show again...
- Loyaleagle, on 11/06/2007, -11/+6What exactly was funny about that...I mean he didn't really say anything outragious like you hear on Fox. He just stated his fairly obvious position and that was that. This has got to be the lamest video I have ever seen on digg.
And no, I'd never vote for the guy.....Obama all the way!

- meatmcguffin, on 11/05/2007, -14/+40Was it me or did he actually say "I'm Mit Romney and I approve this message"? Was there ever a possibility that he didn't approve the message but broadcast it on TV anyway?
- MacEnvy, on 11/05/2007, -1/+50It's the law - he has to say it. FEC rules.

- gcauthon, on 10/15/2007, -0/+7*****.
- Fordi, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1Not *****. When I was in the Navy for Nuclear Power training, the *instructors* said 'nucular' repeatedly.
I'd have corrected them, but I was too busy learning classified information (classified because the specifics of a submarine / carrier nuke engine are enough information to disable it, not because we're preventing others from building them).
- Fordi, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1Not *****. When I was in the Navy for Nuclear Power training, the *instructors* said 'nucular' repeatedly.
- superjer, on 10/15/2007, -0/+0Sadly, this is probably true. For ex: my dad is a chemical engineer who has worked directly designing critical systems for nuclear power plants. He always says "nucular." I've been trying to correct him since I was about 8 years old.

- Mononuclear, on 11/05/2007, -3/+36He isn't.. He will just use the NSA and computer algorithms to listen in to any calls to US citizens he feels like...like how it works now.
- kete00, on 11/06/2007, -2/+51Duh....I'm sure that the Al-Qaeda would just use *67.
- AmICoolNow, on 10/16/2007, -0/+5It's easy, it'll say "QAEDA, AL". And if that doesn't work, why don't we just monitor all calls!

- AegisC, on 10/15/2007, -8/+5However, none in the community ever leave their parents' basement long enough to inject any of that particularly flavorful digg tolerance into the real world. So you don't have too much to worry about.
- zweben, on 11/06/2007, -1/+7I couldn't care less that he's mormon. (Well okay, I would prefer atheist to religious, but I don't care if he's Christian or Mormon, they're equally stupid to me)
It's that little "increase the army by 100,000 men, double the size of Guantanamo bay, islamic terrorism will be the death of us all, yay torture, civil liberties are for pussies anyway" thing that gets me. - Fordi, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I don't care what religion you are, if you have intention of adhering to constitutional law - and so far, only Ron Paul has that in mind. The others (dems and reps) seem perfectly willing to intermingle their personal ideologies with policy making, constitutional restrictions on responsibility of the federal government be damned.
I'm sorry, but that's a big no-no in my book.

- kete00, on 10/16/2007, -3/+2Actually, it was posted while I was typing. I just knew it was inevitable.

Well done, douche.

I do have to say that my only direct contact with a Mormon is Howard Taylor, the author of the webcomic 'Schlock Mercenary', long time employee of Unisys, and overall not-stupid human. That said, I live far, far away from Utah, and so does he.

Who's "we"? I certainly don't and I'm LDS. There is no official church doctrine stating that either. You can find quotes by random church leaders in the past who implied that but that was just their opinion.- kufu91, on 10/22/2007, -1/+4it is the general consensus. even in MA i got taught in seminary (like the ccd of Mormonism) that the earth was created in 6 days literally by jesus 6000 years ago, that the water from the flood just evaporated, and that evolution was essentially a lie. this was reaffirmed in both Sunday school lessons and in priesthood lessons from the time before i was eight. the only person in the church who has not agreed with these statements has been my bishop who danced around the question by talking about his grandfather who dodged around the question from fellow scientists by saying that he did not believe in his religion when it wasn't true. Earlier today my seminary teacher told us that the dead sea was salty because Sodom and Gomorrah were turned into salt like lot's wife.
- viggenguy, on 10/22/2007, -0/+2come on now, we've all had run-ins with crazy seminary teachers convinced the second coming will be next week...

- spinningobo, on 10/22/2007, -0/+4Yeah, I think that people make too big a deal out of the whole mormon thing. I mean, when JFK was running for office, people were freaked out that he was catholic. They said he would be calling the pope every day for advice, and that he'd be pushing the catholic agenda on the nation. He ended up being a pretty decent president.
Regardless, Mitt Romney is a douchebag.

I'll admit I don't know much about politics and what is going on in the world, nor have I ever heard his message about anything, but this guy has the look that america needs and that the world would respect. - Fordi, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1Your entire comment just displays ignorance. Never ask why 'liberals' want to negotiate with 'terrorists', never wonder what Gore and Carter did to deserve Nobels.
The root word of 'ignorance' is 'ignore'. Take a look at the ideas and concepts you ignore because they offend you. Then, maybe, come back and talk with the rest of the world like we're humans.

- Gekkobear, on 10/15/2007, -7/+2HeeHee, the claim is that it parodies itself; but fortunately there's a laugh track to clarify what was funny. AND it's credited to SNL when they didn't do it, so it has a false appeal to an authority that used to be funny... so that's a plus.
What an amazing argument. Canned laughter. Well with pithy commentary like that I can't see how GW got elected twice. It's like this only plays well with the loyal base. Weird, because you'd think everyone would appreciate being told when to laugh by a falsified source. - dan222555, on 10/16/2007, -26/+7Glad you liberals think these things are a laughing matter. 3000+ killed by terrorists on 9/11 certainly didn't make me crack a smile.

- dan222555, on 10/16/2007, -7/+1Regardless of why we went there in the first place right now we are fighting Al Qaeda in Iraq. And they're being supplied weapons by Iran. These things are all connected....

SO we could've spent far less money, troops, & international goodwill by continuing the fight in Afghanistan and KILLING THE ACTUAL PEOPLE WHO ATTACKED US, or we could go into Iraq (regardless of the reasons as you so stupidly put it), so we could simply have a new place to fight them, like this is some sort of secondary arena.
You conveniently forget that there is an indigenous populace in Iraq who is already very Muslim, already very poor, already very uneducated, and already with very little left to lose. It takes one mistake, one accident, one incident to tip these guys from hapless civilians caught up in a war over to angry Al Qaeda ready to kill us.
Our occupation of Iraq for this long has only served to turn the place into the greatest Al Qaeda recruitment tool their leaders have ever known. I believe a report came out from the GAO recently that confirmed this. Iraq is not making us safer from the type of people who attacked us on 9/11, it is putting us in greater danger by swelling the ranks of those who would do harm to our nation, simply because they've only seen our monstrous appetite for war. AND every time you try and use those who died on 9/11 to justify our continued presence in Iraq, you drag their memories through the mud.
- dan222555, on 10/16/2007, -7/+1Regardless of why we went there in the first place right now we are fighting Al Qaeda in Iraq. And they're being supplied weapons by Iran. These things are all connected....
- cashman57, on 10/15/2007, -1/+2I thought is was amusing. I don't think Romney has a chance even with a $400.00 haircut.
Try watching it again and this time pretend that most of the 9-11-01 terrorists were from our friend Saudi Arabia.
I get what you are saying about the situation in Iraq being serious but the campaign of Romney isn't serious.
I know the Iranians are giving weapons and training to the maniacs who are killing our guys over there, but I see that as one more reason we should not have been there to begin with.
I am more angry with the Penatgon and Congress for allowing our guys to get blown to bits in humvees when we have far superior vehicles being built by Oshkosh Truck.
I am angry with Congress for failing to do what they were sent there to do.
I am angry that we allow muslims schools to teach that Christians and Jews are apes and pigs.
I am not angry over a laugh track on a political commercial that will be forgotten.- barktwiggs, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2Edwards is the one with the $400 haircut.
- kinerry, on 10/15/2007, -0/+3and 4000 more dead in Iraq for no good reason did?
- dan222555, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1"No good reason" is your opinion. I would disagree, but that's besides the point. Soldiers who enlisted voluntarily being killed in action over the course of a 4 year military engagement is not the same as 3000 innocent men, women, and children dying on a single day.
You can't expect to fight a war without casualties.- sleepwalkers, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2So somehow all of those people dying is okay because they enlisted voluntarily? No. It's still not okay. I don't have any specific figures or facts about this, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are more people dying every day in Iraq (civilians and solidiers alike) than there was when Saddam was in power.
I understand that being for or against the war is opinion, but I fail to see a valid reason as to why it was needed that we abandon Afghanistan and go into Iraq.
Not to mention most of the 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia - our "ally" mind you.- dan222555, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1Nobody said it was ok. I said they're different situations.

- colberrep, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2whoa, there are much more than 4k dead in iraq, the # of innocent iraqi's dead is over 100k. and yes, they are humans too.
- dan222555, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1"No good reason" is your opinion. I would disagree, but that's besides the point. - colberrep, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2yeah let's go attack a random country then. *****.
- jtms1200, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1there is no point in even trying to make any comments that aren't bleeding heart left here... digg regular news has been completely taken over by barking moonbats. At least the tech section is still decent.
- Fordi, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Mmmm... insult the debators rather than discuss the issues with an open mind. That's a good neocon. *pats head*
- zachshmack, on 11/06/2007, -1/+15Yeah, all those damn Iraqis and Iranians that were responsible for 9/11....
- neuropsychguy, on 10/16/2007, -10/+5Am I the only one who didn't laugh? Maybe I fail at humor but I fail to see what's so funny about adding a laugh track to a political message.
- joeyjojo, on 11/06/2007, -0/+5"I fail to see what's so funny about adding a laugh track to a political message"
I think that confirms that you fail at humor. ;o) - BrewBeau, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1Probably. What's funny is that truth is stranger than fiction. If Romney hadn't made that ad and SNL had made one spoofing him, the laugh track probably would have been the only difference.
- steve06000, on 11/06/2007, -1/+1I didn't laugh not because I fail to see the humor in things--because this could've been pulled off very well--it was just poorly executed IMHO. I mean, I've never heard a laugh track that sounds like that. Sounded like one of those generic laugh tracks that you can buy on CD. Hard to believe this would make it to SNL.
- joeyjojo, on 11/06/2007, -0/+5"I fail to see what's so funny about adding a laugh track to a political message"
- crazypantsbone, on 10/16/2007, -1/+8Dan, how many do you think have been killed in your "War of terror"?
Asshat. - c0n724ll10n, on 10/16/2007, -4/+18Mitt Romney is a ***** joke.
- Zoshchenko, on 11/06/2007, -5/+15As a card-carrying Mormon, Mitt Romney is every bit a deluded fundamentalist wacko as the militant Islamists he claims he wants to control. "My insanity is better than your insanity!" BOOM!
- DavidJay, on 10/20/2007, -3/+1Does your church really issue a card? What is the applicant process?
- kufu91, on 10/16/2007, -0/+4he's probably talking about a temple recommend. you get one after an interview with your bishop (really general questions like "do you believe that jesus is your personal savior" or "do you believe in the bible") it allows you to go into the temple (one of those pretty, big buildings)
- spinningobo, on 10/20/2007, -1/+3Don't be an ass.
- DavidJay, on 10/20/2007, -3/+1Does your church really issue a card? What is the applicant process?
- mynstate, on 10/17/2007, -3/+6This is worst than those fake ads from RoboCop.
- wakananda, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2I'll buy that for a dollar.
- CementShoes, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1LOL
- kore64, on 10/17/2007, -1/+6I can't believe that they play this on national TV without the laughter! He sounds ridiculous!
- sleepwalkers, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1"They" didn't.
- biseor, on 10/17/2007, -1/+4HAHAAHA Mitt Romney puts the phone in phoney.
- pepemt, on 10/17/2007, -2/+5I can't believe that's actually his ad...
- steve06000, on 10/20/2007, -1/+10Maybe I'm in a bad mood, but that wasn't that funny.
- Urusai, on 10/16/2007, -3/+2Wait, was he talking about Islamic jihadists or Mormon jihadists??
- colberrep, on 10/16/2007, -0/+6hate the right wing. love comedy. that wasn't funny.
- nytel, on 10/16/2007, -1/+4Mit Romney is a ***** douchebag.
- jelli, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1Mitt Romney puts the phone in phoney.
- patch6, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Double gitmo!
GLASS PARKIN' LOT! HOO-EE! - Emray, on 10/17/2007, -2/+2Yeah I'm really confused what part of that was funny? He didn't say anything out of the ordinary for the GOP. In the last debate, he stated that before invading Iran he would have to consult his lawyers first-I think that may have been a bit more humorous. Am I just missing something here? (btw I hate Romney I just don't think this is funny)
- nakani, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Apparently the mainstream GOP platform has collapsed upon the weight of its own hilarity
- ryecatcher22, on 10/20/2007, -1/+4maybe if the laugh track was placed more strategically...it really wasn't funny at all
- subat0mic, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1it's funny because we don't like the douchebag or the current idiot thinking in government, not because SNL pulled off the joke well...
- JoeVet, on 10/16/2007, -1/+4So Romney and the rest of the GOP dingle berries want to continue the scare tactics of the Bush administration. How sad for the country if one wins.
- Fordi, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2Ron Paul for the Nom!
- cashman57, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2I thought it was funny.
I don't think jihadists or radical fundamentalist followers of islam are funny because they invented people bombs and have convinced a bunch of brainless twits to wear a bomb vest.
Mitt had to loan himself money to stay on the campaign trail.
I wonder what favor he had to trade?
HAHA!!
