- GeorgeClayton, on 11/21/2007, -8/+6Wow, these people are more scary than the extreme conspiracy theorists or internet nuts that support Ron Paul. (For the record, I'm not talking about the majority of his supporters, just the few extremists). They clearly lack a proper understanding of the Bible . . .
If you remember the ten commandments, the part about "using God's name" in vain refers to using God's name for vain purposes. This doesn't necessarily refer to someone saying "God Damn It" but rather more like those TV-evangelists who constantly ask for money (using Christianity) and then use it for selfish purposes like buying a hot car, big house, etc. Basically it's like claiming to represent God to achieve your own selfish goals.
"May God reign down fire and brimstone on those who oppose us. God is on our side!"
"And if he fails to see the error of his ways, I ask you my lord, to smite him, along with his children, onto the gates of hell. May he burn in damnation and his children suffer until they submit to you my Lord."
"True Christians will be voting for Huckabea, the winning team!"
"Huckabee IS the ONLY Christen choice and if you don't know that then you are NOT a Christian! Takes a big man to pick on a young Christian girl. You sir are a discrace and will burn in hell!!!"
Didn't bother reading any further than that, but these are some seriously crazy supporters. I think a couple of them might be joking, but that "Soldier of GOD" character doesn't seem to be.- ThaddeusB, on 11/21/2007, -8/+4Actually they are "internet nuts that support Ron Paul." the forum is a fake

- Soffrite, on 11/21/2007, -26/+101Just another day for Ron Paul.. he's kicking Huckabee's ass in donations today and he doesn't even need a "money bomb" day to do it.
http://ronpaulgraphs.com/rp_vs_huck_today.html- TheTaoOfBill, on 11/21/2007, -11/+20This is not an average day for us. A recent e-mail from the campaign has made a call for extra cash now. So we are answering that call. We have a goal of beating Huckabee on his own money bomb day.
- Beaupedia, on 09/28/2008, -4/+13I received no campaign Email saying we should donate today to beat Huckabee on his own money bomb day. That would be incredibly childish.
- 0zzy, on 11/21/2007, -2/+11That's not what the email said :X. It said they need money now to pay for ads in december.
- Akronos, on 11/21/2007, -2/+7That's NOT what the email said. It said it needs money now because donating in late December will be too late to affect the early primaries. They need the money right now to buy ad spots before the end of December. This has NOTHING whatsoever to do with Huckabee.

- fadking, on 11/30/2007, -0/+1Ron not taking Iowa isn't such a bad thing for his campaign, considering Iowa's winner typically does NOT get the nomination It's still a good state to start the cycle, IMO. But that's another debate.

- zeromancer, on 11/21/2007, -3/+6From page 2 of the thread:
"I just donated extra money to Ron Paul's campaign because some of the comments on here were sickening me. It's absurd to say that God is on Huckabee's side or on Ron Paul's side, for that matter. We have a soverign God who already planned who our next president will be. We simply do not know who God has ordained to be our next president. "
really? .... seriously? ......... *shakes head*- carpespasm, on 11/21/2007, -1/+2well if there is a christian god, who's got a plan for the universe then he would have already known who would be the next president and have his plan set for what's gonna go on with that, but if that's true then we havn't got any control over our own actions since god's already got the game rigged for who he knows it's going to be. but then you get into the issue of free will since god is all powerful and has a plan for everything, but that brings up the idea that he knew and decided that man would fall from his grace, which means he's punished us with death and the possibility of hell for something he made us to do anyway. anyway, just rambling...
- kraniac, on 11/21/2007, -1/+2You don't quite know what you're talking about. Read Boethius' "The Consolation of Philosophy" for reconciliation of divine foreknowledge with free will. He doesn't prove that we have free will, but he does prove that the two are not incompatible.

"Through perverse court decisions and years of cultural indoctrination, the elitist, secular Left has managed to convince many in our nation that religion must be driven from public view… Why have we allowed the secularists to intimidate us into downplaying our most cherished and meaningful Christian celebration?
The notion of a rigid separation between church and state has no basis in either the text of the Constitution or the writings of our Founding Fathers. The Founding Fathers envisioned a robustly Christian yet religiously tolerant America, with churches serving as vital institutions that would eclipse the state in importance… Throughout our nation’s history, churches have done what no government can ever do, namely teach morality and civility… This is the real reason the collectivist Left hates religion… Knowing this, the secularists wage an ongoing war against religion, chipping away bit by bit at our nation’s Christian heritage" - Ron Paul

- Misesean, on 11/21/2007, -1/+4I didn't know about the spoof fora, but I visited the FredThompsonForum once and it was obvious they were either Paul supporters or had a very good sense of humor (which would be unusual: everyone who isn't a Paul supporter seems to be rabid with hatred). But I think this quote from the article says it all, really:
"I think it's very difficult for the members of the public and the media to tell whether this is a joke," says Christopher Soghoian, a graduate student who studies web psychology and fraud techniques at the Indiana University School of Informatics. "If you hang out in any of the legitimate forums like Free Republic, some of the opinions are not so different from these illegitimate forums, where the opinions are just a bit over the top."
(And it's true, you can't really parody most of these people. No matter what insanity you post, they're almost certain to surpass it soon afterwards)

Hey HigherTardGod, what part of "separation of church and state" don't you understand? Go ahead and spend all your time praying for more money. - SmokeyBBQ, on 11/21/2007, -4/+9Yeah but how much money would Obama raise if he did not accept any money from lobbyists and corporations?
Ron's donations are only from individual donors like us. His average individual donation for his $4.2 million November 5th money bomb was something like $103 per donor.
- just something to consider when talking about a candidate's "large following".- trotskyist, on 11/21/2007, -2/+1Actually, If you'll look at Obama's campaign finance reports, you'll see that only ~$7000 of his total ~21,000,000 raised is from "special interest groups", as opposed to Hillary Clinton, whose contributions from such groups is closer to 10 million.
Sounds like a grassroots following to me.

- bizchris, on 11/21/2007, -0/+3That is a pretty funny Update at the end of that article - but realize it paints a different picture than the reality. The reason the dollar amount is so low is that this was some random guy's efforts within his own Obama network, not the full weight of the Obama campaign behind it.
- scubasteve377, on 11/21/2007, -2/+3Uh, did we forget that Ron Paul's Nov. 5th moneybomb was orchestrated completely independent of the official campaign, by some "random guy", and they still managed to rake in $4.3 million.
- bizchris, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1Totally agreed about the independence from the actual campaign - sorry if I misstated what I was going fo. The point that I was trying to make is that I'd bet there are other examples of random guys who tried to run a Ron Paul grassroots campaign and pulled in less than $1000 - which indicates more about that one guy than about the strength of RP supporters overall. It would be a better match if there was anything that indicated this was the biggest of the Obama grassroots efforts, to compare against the highlight from the RP grassroots.

- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, on 11/21/2007, -39/+9thanks for sourcing your numbers, *****! you damn paulbots are doing just _anything_ these days.
- macman2k, on 11/21/2007, -9/+33I must say that by any historic measure of grassroots support, it appears that Huckabee is doing better than most.
Unfortunately, Ron Paul has raised the grassroots bar to a level that actually allows him to compete with the front runners despite the media giving Huckabee more "credibility" than Ron Paul. Ron Paul's grassroots are generating 4.5 times the fundraising of Huckabee.- 01l0, on 11/21/2007, -3/+14grassroots support means more than internet fundraising. you guys are going to learn that lesson in the primaries.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -7/+32are those comments fake?! what an embarassment...
RP '08 & hopefully '12 too- ThaddeusB, on 11/21/2007, -2/+4Yes, they are fakes. The whole forum is fake. To see what real Huckabee supporters think visit http://forum.hucksarmy.com

- scubasteve377, on 11/21/2007, -2/+2Oh my god, satire?! Those bastards! This is an outrage! Didn't anyone tell them that only people that ThaddeusB agrees with and Colbert are allowed to do satire?
- soulmantim, on 11/21/2007, -2/+29I think this has to be like the fredthompsonforum.com where they aren't really Huck Supporters, but a hilarious satire. Great job at 'getting one past the goalie' for digg.
- jumpyg1258, on 11/21/2007, -7/+26Not as embarrassing or as much of a failure as this fund raising day...
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Barack_Obama_s_B ...- thefirstenemy, on 11/21/2007, -3/+1That was organized by one Obama supporter, it wasn't even anything done by the Obama campaign.

- DaSuHouSe, on 11/21/2007, -2/+5I really don't understand why Huckabee gets more media coverage when he's lower in the polls and in fundraising.
- ajpalmieri, on 11/21/2007, -3/+7Because the media knows he is not a real threat. They use him to act fair and balanced.
- ThaddeusB, on 11/21/2007, -2/+5What polls you are looking at? Huckabee has polled higher than Paul in 98% of all polls.

- theodorelogan, on 11/21/2007, -9/+89I'm a Ron Paul supporter.
That said, I think it is ridiculous to say that raising $230,000 in one day is a failure, especially for a candidate that has, thus far, had so little fundraising success.
Ron Paul supporters would do well to gloat far less. If Huckabee bows out, his supporters will be looking for somewhere to go. We don't want to burn any bridges.
Story dugg down for smarmy attitude.- heliox, on 11/21/2007, -6/+15You are the first RP support that didn't sound like an ass. dug
- trentasaurus, on 11/21/2007, -4/+17Agreed. I will, however, laugh at Obama's pathetic fundraising day because he's been declared by the media as a "front runner" and it's funny to see what happens when you rely on regular people for money.
- bizchris, on 11/21/2007, -1/+2The reason the dollar amount is so low is that this was some random guy's efforts within his own Obama network, not the full weight of the Obama campaign behind it. Come on Digg, we're smarter than this. (Not an Obama supporter, but want my media to be truth.)
- koft, on 11/21/2007, -7/+3You don't want to give the enemy any comfort. The Ron Paul supporters have to go out and demonstrate Ron Paul's superiority over the other candidates. When it comes to voting in the primaries people will naturally vote for the strongest guy. To get people from the other camps, (i'm not talking fence sitters) you have to make the campaign obvious. Slam the other campaigns when they don't do as well as something. Grab their members by the back of the neck and slam their faces into it. Make it obvious the other guy isn't going to win and make Ron Paul the only candidate worth lining up on.
This isn't a fun day at the park, this is serious. The constitution and our entire system of governance is hanging on this. If you don't vote for Ron Paul you will never be safe, your family and children will never be safe in America again. We will be a police state, we will have no rights and ultimately our dollar will collapse and we will become invaded and carved up by foreigners. It's time to get tough and make people realize that Ron Paul is the only solution, no matter what it takes.- theodorelogan, on 11/21/2007, -3/+5You can point it out without being an *****.
- ilikemike, on 11/22/2007, -2/+1Apparently he can't.
- theodorelogan, on 11/21/2007, -3/+5You can point it out without being an *****.

- twilightsaturn, on 11/21/2007, -0/+4Hi. I am a Ron Paul supporter and I DO NOT approve that message....
- jefferygomer, on 11/26/2007, -0/+1Agreed, unfortunately I haven't always taken the better route. I've been buried by Ron Paul fans a few times because I've been pretty critical of them despite my complete dedication to Paul '08. But people in any group can be asshats, it's just unfortunate when they end up representing you in a negative way.
- grapesofbaath, on 11/21/2007, -9/+13That thread is crazy. I want to believe it's a joke, but I don't think it is. Apparently internet Christians are way more annoying than internet atheists.

- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, on 11/21/2007, -47/+8Ok, so Huckabee didn't manage to get enough prepubescents to steal their parents' credit cards like Ron Paul did. Don't make fun of him for it.
- jklikesnews, on 11/21/2007, -3/+12And again.. it's getting old.
- DaSuHouSe, on 11/21/2007, -3/+12Wow, I just looked at XXXXXXXXXXXXXX's comment history and man does he hate Ron Paul. Despite the majority of them being anti-Ron Paul, I've yet to see one bit of constructive criticism.
- Shadowsaint, on 11/21/2007, -19/+7WOW, omg i couldn't stop reading that thread, its clear they're all inbred home schooled hicks who were indoctrinated into their faith.
Its CLEAR why Ron Paul is clearly surpassing Huck, we don't sit on our asses and pray, we go out there and make history happen. They were expecting to pray $20 million into their bank account? - ThaddeusB, on 11/21/2007, -2/+4They aren't. Its RonPaulBot satire.
- bamapachyderm, on 11/22/2007, -0/+2There are so many morons in this thread who supposedly think it's real that I'm starting to think they're part of the whole game, pretending they think it's real. Either that or diggers are even more brain-dead than I thought, and that's a pretty tall order.
- MrXfromPlanetX, on 11/23/2007, -0/+2They are real. I listen to Focus on the Family radio A.K.A Accent Radio to see what the neocons are up to.
I will tell you this--they are scary as hell. Every day you have Greg Allen and The Lynne Breidenbach Show trying to whip people into a frenzy of fear and hatred. I can see how "The Crusades" took place.
I heard them trying to freak people out about the internet for weeks, and then I see H.R. 1955 getting pushed through. The whole time they were psyching people out to make them think we needed this bill. Breidenbach was telling people there are over 400 web sites in the US sponsored by terrorists promoting terrorism and we need to crack down on these web sites.
- ThaddeusB, on 11/21/2007, -2/+4They aren't. Its RonPaulBot satire.

- ThaddeusB, on 11/21/2007, -14/+11Amazing that a fake forum set up by RonPaulBots, that is obvious satire can make the cut as a real news story but hundreds of real news stories (about all candidates) can't. Digg has reached a new low.

- RollFizzlebeef, on 11/21/2007, -20/+7When did money become the marker of an honorable campaign for the Paultards?
Oh, right - when he started making a little.
