http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=2R_v13CBhRw- EricCiccone, on 01/21/2008, -0/+3Well as someone who has been diagnosed with a brain condition that causes seizures let me tell you about my experiences with using marijuana medicinally. I've been smoking pot regularly for some a few years now, and up until this past year I did not know the benefits I was gaining from this (as I had not yet been diagnosed with my condition). So one year ago I had a seizure, I was tested and released with no cause for the seizure. 11 months later I had another one, this time I got MRI's done on my brain and a nuerologist took a look at the results. This is when I was diagnosed with mesial temporal sclerosis, a condition that causes seizures. What is interesting is that without any form of medication I went 11 months without seizures, and do you know why?
Turns out marijuana suppresses the risk of seizures, thats straight from a neurologist. So for those 11 months the only thing preventing me from having seizures was smoking pot. Now I am on medication and coupled with smoking I have been and will continue to be seizure free. Marijuana helps me, as it helps other people. Maybe California's system of medicinal marijuana is loose, but don't knock the herb for that. It is an herb for us to use, and it should be legalized for medicinal and recreational use.- mightydavefish, on 01/21/2008, -1/+1So how does it feel to know the GOP candidates want you locked up for medicine that helps you?

- Picaroon, on 01/20/2008, -6/+11An honest answer. You may not like what he says, but he's saying what he feels in front of a tough crowd to say it to.
-A guy who is very much for legalization- MindStalker, on 01/20/2008, -0/+7Yea I agree its good that he is being honest. What really bothers me is that he doesn't support State's rights to make these decisions on their own.
- GMFlash, on 01/21/2008, -2/+6I think it's funny that a die hard Christian candidate wants someone to present *scientific* and *objective* evidence to him that medical marijuana works. Shouldn't he just have faith? :)
- TheTaoOfBill, on 01/21/2008, -0/+1I like how Huck always claims states rights only when it suits his agenda. Ron Paul is the real states rights champion.

- rebotfc, on 01/20/2008, -9/+140Mick Huckabee is an *****, he preaches that he cares because of his christian values but will do nothing to help those in pain because of prejudice.
- asskey, on 01/20/2008, -4/+26No, he thinks he is helping those in pain by trying to get them to accept Christ. And that is the sad part.
- browwiw, on 01/20/2008, -2/+17No, that's the viciously ignorant part.
- Geekiest, on 01/20/2008, -3/+17Firstly, as someone who smokes the sticky green pipe with some regularity, weed is great and everyone should be able to smoke to their hearts content.
But, you are missing the point. The reason he is against medical marijuana (federally) is that it would become legalized. Obviously this doesn't mean unregulated, but still, legal. I think his fear is that this would lead to its de-regulation and widespread use. As much as I disagree with him on all points, everyone saying "he h8z cancer patientz otherwise hed be pro-medical pot" is grossly misrepresenting what he is saying. He thinks pot is wrong altogether, not that it is medically irrelevant.
On an somewhat related note, acid should be legalized. it doesn't make your babies retarded. the government is just afraid of masses that aren't compliant shells. Acid is a life changing experience. If you are up to it, give it a try.
Peace.- aidave, on 01/20/2008, -0/+15Legalize mushrooms, as well. They are a natural gift to us.
http://www.digg.com/general_sciences/Humans_Primat ...- arbulus, on 01/20/2008, -0/+15Legalize everything.
It's not the government's (or anyone's) decision what I can or cannot put into my own body.- spectre_25gt, on 01/20/2008, -1/+2You have a right to do whatever you please to yourself until it hurts someone else. I don't think anyone can really argue that cocaine, meth, crack or heroin can really be legalized without creating some major societal problems.
- Phrag, on 01/21/2008, -0/+1The problem is cocaine, meth, crack and heroin all cause major social problems regardless of their legal status. We should see whether the prohibition or legalization of them causes more or less social problems.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 01/21/2008, -0/+1They cause even more social problems when they are illegal because the money in their sales goes to fund crime lords and terrorists. If it were legal the funds would support legitimate business men.
- Tilon, on 01/20/2008, -0/+6"Legalize everything."
This is the problem, it wasn't their right to 'delegalize' in the first place! Why did they need a Constitutional Amendment to ban Alcohol?
- arbulus, on 01/20/2008, -0/+15Legalize everything.
- MindStalker, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2As I just said in other post the real issue behind this issue is State rights. One doesn't have to "legalize" it on the federal level to promise that you wouldn't violate individual state sovereignty. It can be illigal all day long to take it across state lines or to bring in into this country in the first place. But violating an individual State's soverignty by arresting its citizens for something perfectly legal inside that State is insidious.
- aidave, on 01/20/2008, -0/+15Legalize mushrooms, as well. They are a natural gift to us.
- mGARANDEUR1, on 01/20/2008, -0/+15Nowhere in the bible does it prohibit people from using substances naturally found on this earth. According to Genesis, God created all of the plants and animals for people to use. Point being- Huckabee fails miserably at life and contradicts himself.
- LlamaKing, on 01/20/2008, -2/+2It's hard to not contradict yourself when you're using the bible for reference...
- fireburner23, on 01/20/2008, -0/+260 years of unwinding "Reefer Madness" will take much time. Be patient and persistent.
- sathias, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2Is this the point we turn the use of literal interpretation of the bible back on them and point out that in Genesis God tells Adam and Eve they can use any tree in the garden of Eden except for the tree of knowledge? Or is marijuana the tree of knowledge or something? Whoah, Adam and Eve have been smoking my stash, bummer!
- heartsblood, on 01/21/2008, -1/+1remember, god wants them to die. If he didn't they wouldn't have contracted cancer!
- asskey, on 01/20/2008, -4/+26No, he thinks he is helping those in pain by trying to get them to accept Christ. And that is the sad part.
- theviceroy, on 01/20/2008, -6/+124"But you wouldn't stop the raids on cancer patients?"
"Probably not."
What an *****...- kalleanka, on 01/20/2008, -10/+35True, he might be an *****, but atleast he is honest about it and answered the question truthfully with that he probably will not do anything about it.
That is better than saying yes (or no) in a question and do the opposite.- kubedawg, on 01/20/2008, -1/+18very true, but this isn't about questioning whether he's truthful or dishonest, it's about the issues he supports and this issue is obviously one he doesn't support and that is why im not voting for him.
- mGARANDEUR1, on 01/20/2008, -0/+3I guess people do have to give him credit for stating it clearing and not pulling a Hilary. His way of thinking is ass-backwards though.
- userperson, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1Certainly give him credit.
I like Huckabee to an extent.
I just don't like him arresting people for no good reason.
There are worse candidates, perhaps a few better ones.
Don't vote for him.
- userperson, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1Certainly give him credit.
- breathofwater, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2most just refuse to talk about marijuana, so props to him for having the balls to say his opinion, even if I do think he's wrong.
- plasticmind, on 01/20/2008, -10/+1"If a cancer patient bought alcohol for underage kids, would you arrest them?!"
- Tarl, on 01/20/2008, -0/+5Bad analogy.
- userperson, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2If a cancer patient anally raped your mother ... {eye-roll}
There is nothing wrong with smoking things... as long as you don't hurt anyone else.
Nowhere is it even implied that there is a goal of getting this stuff in the hands of children, you're distorting the argument.
Just because smoking some things is against the law doesn't make it wrong. The law and ethics are two separate things. or was it wrong to free slaves when it was illegal?- plasticmind, on 01/20/2008, -1/+2"Just because smoking some things is against the law doesn't make it wrong."
And just because giving underage kids alcohol is against the law, that doesn't make it wrong either.- userperson, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2True, but underage kids are typically don't have the experience necessary to know what they're getting into which is why such things are potentially more harmful to them than others.
Of course you're ignoring the issue: It is wrong to initiate force. But I expect that from the quality of your arguments thus far.
- userperson, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2True, but underage kids are typically don't have the experience necessary to know what they're getting into which is why such things are potentially more harmful to them than others.
- plasticmind, on 01/20/2008, -1/+2"Just because smoking some things is against the law doesn't make it wrong."
- diespectra, on 01/21/2008, -0/+2Since children are the dependents of other individuals, consider them property for instance, it makes it wrong for someone to give them something deemed dangerous or unwanted by the "owner."
However since cancer patient's bodies are their bodies it IS ok.
You are confusing two very different issues... One is destruction or harm to someones property, the other is a matter of personal liberty.
- dasluvaluva, on 01/20/2008, -4/+4The line that's most important to note is the "I'll uphold the law" comment. If marijuana is illegal on a federal level, then states are that allow it are really going against federal law.
So when a President vows to uphold to rules and laws of the United States, we attack him? C'mon..there's plenty of stuff about Huckabee to go after, but this is reaching.- Tilon, on 01/20/2008, -0/+6The ability to simply ban plants is not in the Constitution. The Tenth Amendment expressly states that any powers not in the Constitution are reserved to the States, or to the People. They even argued that the Bill of rights was unnecessary and dangerous because it implied that there were rights to enumerate in the first place!
The warped usage of the Commerce clause the US uses to justify Prohibition is total crap if you look at it with a logical mind. What they are doing is Unconstitutional. - MindStalker, on 01/20/2008, -0/+3Constitutionally the Commerce clause only gives the Federal government the ability to control intra-state commerce. The Feds can ban sale of any drug across State lines or its importation.
But the federal government has NO jurisdiction over a drug created, distributed and consumed inside an individual state. Most other crimes of this type the FBI will even tell you, sorry thats a State issue, there is nothing we can do about it.
- Tilon, on 01/20/2008, -0/+6The ability to simply ban plants is not in the Constitution. - Ansible, on 01/20/2008, -0/+4So, which of the candidates are in favor of legalizing marijuana? Because if they aren't that makes them assholes too, right?
- duggreen, on 01/22/2008, -1/+2Mike Gravel is in favor of legalizing marijuana, and he inhaled.
- kajoob, on 01/21/2008, -0/+3"Will you approve of arresting and raiding cancer patients?"
What an *****. I'm for at least decriminalizing marijuana, but come on, the guy wasn't honestly seeking a candidates position on an issue, he was being a douchebag and trying to make a statement and phrased the question is such a way that he didn't give a ***** what the guy's answer was. Also, he totally cut the guy off that was in the middle of asking something. You mister marijuana question asker, deserve a cockpunch.
Now let's all go smoke some weed.
- kalleanka, on 01/20/2008, -10/+35True, he might be an *****, but atleast he is honest about it and answered the question truthfully with that he probably will not do anything about it.
- ZxEfR, on 01/20/2008, -11/+22Would you expect anything different from a NWO minion?
- masterm1nd, on 01/20/2008, -2/+1Yes. Wouldn't it make the public that much easier to control and manipulate? You could say some sort of pharmaceutical profit conspiracy, but theres more money to be made off legalizing and taxing, on top of the money not spent on prohibiting it.
- ZenMojo, on 01/20/2008, -1/+3Unfortunately, if the American Medical Association is right and marijuana cures so many problems and can be grown in your backyard, how would the pharmaceutical companies benefit? (Ugh, now I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but the question has merit.)
- masterm1nd, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1They wouldn't benefit. I wasn't using that as an argument, I was predicting that as a counter argument and preemptively debunking it.
- jsmu, on 01/22/2008, -0/+1You debunked nothing. You proved our point. LOL!
- ZxEfR, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Actually it is most important for the NWO to take away your rights to be a citizen......make it so you have no rights at all such as not being able to vote. Having a criminal record allows them total control over someone! The NWO is not about giving one liberty the NWO is about taking away liberty.
Also Marijuana is a plant that you can grow yourself....where is their control in that?
- ZenMojo, on 01/20/2008, -1/+3Unfortunately, if the American Medical Association is right and marijuana cures so many problems and can be grown in your backyard, how would the pharmaceutical companies benefit? (Ugh, now I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but the question has merit.)

- omnithought, on 01/20/2008, -5/+68There's that Christian charity and compassion out in force again. "***** the cancer patients! Pot is wrong, even though there's nothing in the Bible against it." If ***** read his silly book of myths, he'd see that it actually supports the use of marijuana. Genesis 1:29: "Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you."
Damn fundies can't even read their own book.- Emnsta, on 01/20/2008, -7/+3I think Huckabitch sounds better than *****.

What you're talking about is not consumption for nourishment.- omnithought, on 01/20/2008, -0/+7How do you know? Hempseed is actually quite nutritious.
- cmackattack, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1indeed...best proteins on Earth...
- MaTT2011, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2The definition of "nourishment" and "nourish" is broader than just "Put it in your mouth and eat it"
So in actuality marijuana IS a substance that you both consume AND one that "nourishes" your body in a variety of ways. Even if you want to deny all the medical benefits that have been proven to exist and assume that its only real effect is the lessening of pain that is still a form of "nourishment" as it sustains ones body and maintains ones mind (and the Mind IS , in fact, part of the body and yes...you are feeding it with prescrption drugs, vitamins and even marijuana)
So your going to have to come up with a better angle, sorry.
- omnithought, on 01/20/2008, -0/+7How do you know? Hempseed is actually quite nutritious.
- mGARANDEUR1, on 01/20/2008, -1/+4And that's the problem isn't it? The bible preaches love and forgiveness as do most holy books. People would rather blindly follow.
- masterm1nd, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1If you think it has anything to do with religion you are mistaken. That's just one of the stances he HAS to take to get nominated.
- jsmu, on 01/22/2008, -2/+0Ah, so that excuses it? Gee, hypocrisy in the name of religion. EVEN BETTER
- tillerman00, on 01/21/2008, -0/+4Yes, yes, but turn your attention to Luke 16:13 in which the Lord sayeth "Be ye of thick, pungent bong-tugs, and thy lungs sticky with resin, for only he who hath toked hard may enter unto the kingdom of Heaven."
- EmperorAwesome, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Well, traditionally it's the Catholics who don't read the Bible, cause hey, the freakin pope's there to tell you what's in there. The non-denoms busy themselves with advertising and fund raising to build obscenely large megachurches, and then there's Huckabee, filling the baptist role of judging his neighbors.
- Emnsta, on 01/20/2008, -7/+3I think Huckabitch sounds better than *****.
- MasterThief117, on 01/20/2008, -4/+54Huckabee is a joke. He is completely moronic. I mean seriously. He is a nut. He is pro everything everyone the majority is against. He not only supports the current war, he wants to increase the number of troops. He not only agrees with the Patriot Act spying on us, he is pro sending "terrorists" to Guantanamo. He is against stem cells. He is also against same-sex marriages AND same-sex civil unions because he feels that gays and lesbians add to the increase of drug use or some stupid ***** like that.
His sense of humor is tasteless. He talks about how much weight he lost, and even compared his weight loss to the experience of a concentration camp. Who the hell does this and thinks it's a good idea?
He disagrees with state benefits to illegal immigrants because for whatever reason he thinks it is "un-Christian." What does that even mean? How is it "un-Christian?" He also is against legalization of something that will stop the suffering of millions of sick people.- OffPiste, on 01/20/2008, -14/+4Why are you getting yourself so worked up? - Smoove3, on 01/20/2008, -10/+3Actually, he's NOT pro sending terrorists to Guantanamo... He actually wants to close it down... And send them all to Leavenworth, KS. I don't agree with some of the things that he says, but I will give him credit, that he doesn't flip-flop as much as the others and is pretty honest about his beliefs and what he stands for.
And also, he's against the war... Please know your facts before you rant senselessly.
OMG... He doesn't want to change the Marijuana laws!!! Get over it! If you weren't probably high right now you would know the facts dummy- mrjit, on 01/20/2008, -0/+4You're an idiot. There are probably tens of millions of us "non pot-smokers" that also think that the prohibition of marijuana when it has fantastic medical benefits for those in chronic pain, or dealing with cancer is inhumane. To assume it is "dummy" potheads who just want to smoke and eat doritos all day long is just ignorant. Hell, even if it IS mostly pot-heads, I could care less. I would gladly trade all of the alcoholics of the world who beat, rape, slaughter by vehicle, etc in for potheads.
- Smoove3, on 01/20/2008, -3/+1actually i called him a dummy due to him spitting out WRONG facts, not because he's a pot-head
- Smoove3, on 01/20/2008, -4/+1And the truth is that millions abuse medical use marijuana... And I am fully aware that it has good usages, and am not against it at all. Just saying that the dummy was spitting out wrong facts for Huckabee and not knowing what the hell he was talking about.
Anyone that abuses anything, alcohol or drugs is not good, pot-head or not... It wasn't my issue- spectre_25gt, on 01/20/2008, -1/+2See those negative numbers on your posts? You lost. "Get over it!"
- Phrag, on 01/21/2008, -0/+2I doubt that there are millions of people in the medical marijuana system, let alone millions abusing it.

If they were to have blind spots, I'd rather they be of this nature than economic or moral. Alas Huckabee, and most if not all of the other have these problems as well.
Good point, but I stand by my statement especially in light of all the idiotic policies which are being thought of. Teaching 'creationism' would be bad, but it wouldn't be the worst thing ever.

- masterm1nd, on 01/20/2008, -0/+5You can grow poppy, the natural form of oxy. I can grow marijuana but I can't make marinol (synthetic THC).
- Anath3ma, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1Not to nit-pick, but my understanding is that oxy has no relation to poppy-based drugs except in effect, so there really is no natural form of oxy.
- masterm1nd, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1We attempted to synthesize poppy (opium, heroin) and oxy is one of the many variants (methadone, vicodine, oxy ect) we created. It works in very much the same way, which if I remember right, scrambles and discombobulates the signals sent and received between your nerves and brain.
"Oxycodone is commercially made from thebaine, an opiate alkaloid and minor component of opium."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxycontin#Chemistry .
"Oxycodone is an opioid agonist, and as such is a variation on an ancient theme beginning with the simple consumption or smoking of the alkaloid-bearing parts of Papaver somniferum, the opium poppy, first cultivated circa 3400 BC in lower Mesopotamia. Ancient Persians, Sumerians, Assyrians, Babylonians, and Egyptians found that smoking the extract derived from the seed pods yielded a pleasurable, peaceful feeling throughout the body. The Sumerians called the poppy plant "Hul Gil" or "joy plant". Cultivation and use spread quickly to the rest of the Persian Gulf, Levant and the Arabian Peninsula, eventually reaching India and China.
Oxycodone was first synthesized in a German laboratory in 1916, a few years after the German pharmaceutical company Bayer had stopped the mass production of heroin due to addiction and abuse by both patients and physicians. It was hoped that a thebaine-derived drug would retain the analgesic effects of morphine and heroin with less of the euphoric effect which led to addiction and over use. To some extent this was achieved, as oxycodone does not "hit" the central nervous system with the same immediate punch as heroin or morphine and it does not last as long. The subjective experience of a "high" was still reported for oxycodone, however, and it made its way into medical usage in small increments in most Western countries until the introduction of the OxyContin preparation radically boosted oxycodone use." - masterm1nd, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2The bottom line being I can grow poppy and marijuana. I can't make oxy or marinol because it would simply be too difficult for me to do. That is the difference the parent comment was overlooking.

How clear does he have to be for you to accept that he doesn't support legalizing marijuana or ending DEA enforcement against people using it medicinally? He's pretty clear, he doesn't support it.
- koft, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2yea he does :
- Strykar, on 01/20/2008, -1/+2Ehh.. for some reason "I MIGHT continue the raids." then "Arresting cancer patients is not my goal" to "I probably would" (arrest cancer patients) doesn't seem like much of a coherent position. He definitely did a good job of not LOOKING like he was glossing over it or running from it.
Think about it. He never said anything that definitely supported or opposed what was happening. All he said clearly was, "Let me be clear. Weed should be illegal', which was not the issue. Arresting cancer patients was (and is). We are left to imply the rest.- koft, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1What you guys want him to say is,"I support hauling sick people off to jail for using pot". He stated that people should follow the law, what an ass! I am all for allowing marijuana to be used medically if it is needed, and there are plenty of other reasons not to vote for this guy but can we please be honest when asking questions like this?
- Paul, on 01/20/2008, -1/+1Exactly, his stance on marijuana isn't what gives me Huckabee nightmares.
This guy is a preacher and by the sounds of it a good one. That means he's been telling people to believe in a magic invisible man who lives in the sky and they've been listening an following. I support anyones right to be deluded but what scares me is a person who has the charisma to convince others to follow him.
The fact that America could be offering him the biggest pulpit in the world makes me want to cry.
