- adammets02, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4No, we're not taking bets, because unlike Dean, no one but Diggers is paying attention to Gravel (and nor should they be, as he is an extreme-views shock-value candidate that has no shot at winning)
- blobzorz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13What happened to Obama?

- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Gravel has that crazy eye that makes me shy away from certain politicians. Like Ted Stevens. Sorry but I just don't like him.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3We didn't know about Gravel so much before and it turns out that Obama is only the second best choice.
- craterburnsu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3From what I've seen so far, i may actually register to vote just to vote Gravel.
- Morphinity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13"What happened to Obama?"
Diggers jumped onto a new bandwagon.
Nothing against Gravel and Obama, (two great candidates, and the only two I like so far) but diggers are really bandwagon jumpers. - colincornaby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"From what I've seen so far, i may actually register to vote just to vote Gravel."
He'd have to make it past the primaries for you to do that.
Seriously, I see people saying this all the time. Do people not know how the election system works? You'll only be able to vote for Gravel if he is the Democrat elected in the primaries to represent the Democrats in the race.
If he gets past the primaries, which is extremely doubtful (even you Gravel supporters have to admit that), then you can vote for him. - craterburnsu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@colincornaby

- deesnutz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Where the hell did this guy come from? Out of no where, Mike Gravel has come on to the scene and his movement is building. Could he be the Democratic underdog that will give Hillary & Obama a run for their money? Only time will tell. But so far I like what I'm seeing. Mike Gravel for President in 2008! Spread the word ... http://www.democratgiftshop.com/mikegravel
Anyone know if CNN is finally going to let him debate with the others? - ADVIZR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"What happened to Obama?"
Nothing happened to Obama. Gravel just finally had a chance to speak. He is the kind of person that people have been waiting for. Anyone who sticks with Obama or any other candidate in spite of a better candidate is only fooling his or herself. Though there's plenty of time to see what happens.
Mike Gravel is the first presidential candidate I've ever donated money to. Gravel 2008 can happen. It's no longer just a dream or long-shot. Donate and spread the word, and it will happen.
- sekaijin, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10indeed, this is the first candidate i can say i have actually been excited about since, well, ever.
- BenDeeSBS, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Gravel is a man we need to lead this country. He knows what he is talking about, and he seems to be the real deal, especially given that he was the guy who released the pentagon papers.
- Saccharin, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2So he was relevant back when Nixon was president. What has he done since? He doesn't even seem to have a grass roots movement behind him besides Digg.
- StormTrooperVII, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@Saccharin:

Mike Gravel: "Under a rock!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fFX4V23FVo - Eleo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1So many ***** haters criticizing him over nothing.
- Saccharin, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3I'm not a hater, I'm just wondering why people are praising him over, well nothing. He's brought nothing new, said nothing new. He's just got a very aggressive and somewhat rambling style. Honestly he just seems to lack the bona fides of someone like Kucinich, Dean, Sharpton, Kerry, Gore. Many of those candidates I don't have much respect for, but by comparison Gravel is just a hotheaded lightweight.
I mean, where the hell has everyone been the last 5 years if they think any of what he's said is new? - RMarcantonio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"He doesn't even seem to have a grass roots movement behind him besides Digg."
Maybe do a little research before you throw that comment out, where do you think all the Digg people came from?
I love it, a bunch of people saying Gravel has no chance yet dont seem to know anything about him or his stances. How many of you are strongly behind a candidate because their viewpoints best represent your own....or is it because somebody told you Obama, Clinton, etc were the best candidate? The first primary vote hasnt even been cast yet. Anybody.....ANYBODY can win this.
Information is king, get yourself some. - Eleo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It's not really about whether or not his ideas are new or old, it's simply that I and other people support his ideas. The notion that we're carelessly throwing our support behind him -just because- he's different is false, and I wish people would get that out of their heads. If Mike Gravel had stances that I strongly disagreed with I wouldn't support him, but it's the opposite; I find his ideas - regardless of whether they're new/old/original/unoriginal - to be very agreeable, and he seems like an intelligent, no-nonsense guy. I think he is the right person for the job. Simple as that.
- keithburgun, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8he's the real deal. after someone like bush we deserve someone like him.

- fuzzmeister, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17If you ever said "Ron Paul for President", you have absolutely no right to say "Mike Gravel for President". The two are almost polar opposites on many issues. Just throwing that out there.
- InsultComedy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1And they are the same on the ones that matters right now. Foreign policy. Torture. The draft. Nuclear preemptive strike. Eat that, bitch.
- ryandailey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How are they NOT like eachother? Both are for the removal of the IRS and Department of Education. Both have been against the war from the beginning. What are you talking about?
- ryandailey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On which issues are they polar opposites? Please show us some proof. I think they are different. Ron Paul is a good politician (like Obama). Mike Gravel is hardly a politician: he wants to turn the law making power over to the people.
- philodygmn, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1If there's one group that should be against Gravel, it's Diggers, because Gravel's populist legislature idea will give all the retirees the electoral power to dictate how much of young people like many Diggers' money they will get!
- shanthp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You've posted this a few times now and it still sucks. Maybe break it up into more than one terribly constructed sentence.
- fancypantscz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Um... If 'young' people voted then oldies wouldn't run the country. And maybe 'smart' people would actually care to involve themselves in government if we had politicians who told the truth and were beholden to no one. And maybe a sense of civic duty would return to America if the people were put in charge of the federal government with federal ballet initiatives. True, there are a lot of 'ifs' there but in my opinion our federal government is broken, the Iraq war is the evidence, and Gravel is the solution.

- Cinefex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Hey guys can i jump on the Gavel band wagon too?? oh please?
This must be the 5th Gavel story today to make it to the front page. Are all the other candidates silent today?
First it was Obama then Ron Paul now this guy. What happened to the other guys?
I love the attention span of Digg. New flavor every week!- dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1This is just a resolut of the "anyone but Bush" mantra that digg now holds close to it's heart. In fact, I'd say that any digg person here would think a candidate is great if they were better than Bush in terms of destroying our freedoms like no other.
- InsultComedy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'll Digg anything positive. And he's been on the news lately. If people want to Digg up other stories, by all means go for it. I'm sure Hillary hasn't been up on Digg 'cos no one likes her. Obama's got Dugg up until he went silent about preemption on Iran. Ron Paul hasn't been in the news lately.
- Cinefex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I agree with you both. I just think its funny that a new "Oh #$%^ this is the greatest person ever!!!!" headline is up every week and gets dugg to the front page.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I don't get why so many people like this guy. He makes decent points but he doesn't say anything different then anything else that has been said by the democratic party and yet attempts to insult the other candidates. This guy is overly agressive and doesn't have the charm I look for in a candidate.
- hdtvdust, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I can't wait until the day after Super Tuesday when Mike Gravel will be completely forgotten again.
- gyronic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Gavel is the only candidate that I can find that has "issues" on his web site.
I'm having a hard time finding more than a resume from the other candidates.
One major mistake of the politicos is not giving voters any idea how they stand on issues.
I guess its standard operating procedure for politics;
"let voters guess how the candidates stand on issues."
BIG MISTAKE imho. - JonnyTrombone, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Thursday's headline: Mike Gravel (D- Alaska) withdraws from presidential race after humiliating interview on comedy show.

So vote in the primary.
Better still, since the real decision in the primary relies on "delegates" or appointed choosers of some other title (depending on your party) within the political parties, you should get into your state-level Democratic or Republican Party, find out who the delegates are and campaign at THEM.
People *don't* know how the election system works. And that is how the powermad gang running things came to power. Because everyone else was too lazy and uninvolved to fight them. - stealthc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Saccharin,

What happened to the original link on Gravel that had something liked 4000+ diggs in 24 hours, #1 in all topics? Remember we were all talking about how the mainstream media would try to bury Sen. Gravel from coverage, and were dis-inviting him from debates?
Search for Gravel now on the site, and you'll see a lot of stories with way fewer diggs than the original posting. Perhaps it was because the original story posted to a page that had a lot of unrelated links with offensive viewpoints on the middle east conflict? If that were the case, Digg could simply have relinked straight to the video on youtube.
Is Digg itself trying to help us all forget this dude?- im300lbsofhoney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe I'm wrong about this, but it is really difficult to find the original story "Meet The Next President Of The United States", the one with the 4000+ score, by doing a search of Digg, which seems unusual for a story that was so popular and huge just 2 or 3 days ago. I can't find it at all.
