Major Clinton backer switches to Obama
politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com — The Obama campaign announced Thursday that former Democratic National Committee Chairman Joe Andrew — who was appointed to that post in 1999 by then-President Clinton — is withdrawing his endorsement of Hillary Clinton, and backing Barack Obama instead.

- cashman57, on 05/01/2008, -13/+3Backing Obama seems silly to me. He will not win if nominated because of the rookie mistakes he has made so far in his campaign and we don't need a rookie in the White House.
He has zero macroecomomic expertise. He plans to inmcrease taxes and spending if elected.
He has zero foreign policy experience. The Senat foreign relations subcommittee he chairs has never been convened.
He has zero military experience or expertise and his plans to attack Pakistan prove he is no tactician.
He has zero leadership experience. When asked about leadership he told us to look at his campaign. Proof enough he can't lead.
He claims at one speech to want to bring troops home from Iraq and then later says he will leave troops in Iraq but he will call them "strike force" instead. He has also said he would increase the size of the military, I can only guess that he wants to bring back the draft.
He has no use for the Constitution, he refuses to sponsor or cosponsor the Enumerated Powers Act and his anti- second amendment stance has been constant in his political career.
He voted for and vocally supported a law that makes you a criminal if you use your gun in self defense, even if you did not fire it.
He has also supported banning Americans from owning guns if they live in the city, as if you don't have a right to be secure in the city, and he wants to ban all semi-automatics, the type women and the elderly prefer because they don't kick and ban guns that are priced low enough the poor can afford them and ban guns if they have a folding stock for easy storage.
We saw what that type of nonsense leads to in the mall and at NIU.
The people had been stripped of their right to keep and bear arms and thus the only one armed was the murderer.- cfelix, on 05/01/2008, -2/+3You may be right. However, I prefer someone that has a short record on lying as compared to Clinton. I prefer a person that is not set on doing everything and anything to get to the presidency for what I believe is her own gain, even if it takes down her own party. That equates to me as a person that will do everything and anything as president for her own gain. I am not saying Obama is a saint, but it is the lesser of two evils. I would rather vote McCain than Clinton based on her lies and past record.
- cashman57, on 05/02/2008, -2/+1The lies are enough for me to seek another candidate even if it means voting third party.
Obama is not change, he's the same old lying leftist liberal lawyer as Clintons.
Obama is unelectable and as he and the Clintons continue the negative campaigning you can almost hear the fabric of the Dem party ripping.

- Qong, on 05/01/2008, -4/+2This story has been all over already.
It's a lack of loyalty on Mr. Andrew's part really. Not that it's a huge issue, it's already happened before on both sides with much higher profile individuals.- Malacandra95, on 05/01/2008, -1/+5Actually, I think Andrew is showing loyalty to the Democratic Party rather than loyalty to a person. Loyalties can come in conflict sometimes.
In any case, I can't think of a single example of a high profile supporter of Obama who has turned around and switched to Hillary Clinton. I'm completely open to be proven wrong if you can site an instance. - obiwan1250, on 05/02/2008, -1/+1Yes. It's time to unite the party. Obama/Clinton is one way. Or Obama/??? is another.
- amirman, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1politics should not be governed by loyalty. this isn't the godfather. this is our country.
