Libertarians pick Barr as presidential candidate | ajc.com
ajc.com — Good detail in this article. Over a year ago, former Republican Bob Barr switched sides on his medical marijuana policies and has since joined the Libertarians. Last night, he was selected as the Libertarian candidate for President, beating out Libertarian favorite, Mary Ruwart. Rasmussen poll has Barr taking 7%. Should take some heat off Nader.

- Polidoc, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1Correction - Rasmussen poll has him at 6 per cent.
Additionally, this article comes from Barr's home state. - ZxEfR, on 05/26/2008, -1/+2I became a Libertarian because I thought the people in charge of the party were the least gullible, most hip to the tricks of evil. Then I see how much Bob Barr ass the party is licking and well now I'm pretty much partyless again.
I just cannot believe that the party "leaders" are buying into Barr's BS. Bob Barr is a huge phony. The guy loses his seat and then somehow miraculously has an epiphany all of a sudden and does a complete 180 degree flop of his deep down personal beliefs???? Bull!!!! Bob Barr has done enormous damage and harm to the citizens of this country.
I'll be the first to admit that I could be wrong about his "awakening" ....but on something as important as this one cannot take chances like that. He is not worth the risk...one thing is a fact for sure....it's not like Bob Barr is that popular of a guy....he's not going to bring enough to the table to make it worth the risk he posses.
I've heard what he has to say on civil rights issues now and the guy is no where near a Libertarian anyway. I just don't understand the Libertarian party "leaders". - DucoNihilum, on 05/27/2008, -0/+1Wow. I just lost all of my support for the LP. I'm NOT voting for a "Republican"
- s0m31john, on 05/27/2008, -0/+3Hey guys if you want to be hip and different come join the LP, no need to agree with Libertarian values or anything.
- wishninja, on 05/27/2008, -1/+1I am a single issue voter who believes ending the drug war should be america's number one priority. I am not sure that this guy is really going to do what he says but then all of the other parties candidates look like they love the drug war and want to continue it. So I guess in the end I will be voting for Bob Barr.
- Striker101, on 05/29/2008, -0/+1Look, people, like it or not, Barr/Root are the last hope to end the moral/economic collapse. The media isn't talking about it; certainly the 3 stooges hope the issue doesn't come up; the brainwashed public has no clue. This is the last opportunity for the Libertarians (and maybe for everyone else too) to get on the map and avoid the next Dark Age.
