Letterman: Clinton has big 'lead in the state of denial'
rawstory.com — Letterman: "Hillary Clinton barely won my home state of Indiana. And she lost in the State of North Carolina. But here is the good news. She has a substantial lead in the state of denial... I ’m no pundit but it occurred to me that Hillary Clinton has one thing in common with President Bush. Neither of them has an exit strategy."

- vuke69, on 05/10/2008, -1/+5She has been quite successful in her petitioning to get the Democratic National Convention moved to the state of Chaos.
- trivialmaggot, on 05/10/2008, -0/+12It's strange that she gets so many votes from Denial, because most of her supporters are from over in Confusion.
- twrife, on 05/10/2008, -2/+3Every politician claims multiple states as their home state.
Obama for instance: Indiana, Hawaii, Kansas...
It's not just her.- PhilLesh69, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1I never heard him claim Indiana or Hawaii as his home state.
Saying you've lived somewhere is not the same as saying it is your home state. I've lived in 7 different states, but my home state is, actually, I'm not sure. I was born in Alabama but had the great fortune of leaving before I was 3 months old. I guess Virginia is my home state since I've lived here the longest.

The Mossad is the most ruthless of all the intelligence agencies. They often do their operations and let other agencies (like the CIA) take credit for them if word of Mossad involvement would ***** off Arab countries.

Clearly Obama has been bought out by whomever owned Hillary and the Crew.- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -10/+4All the remaining candidates, even the ones that haven't been viable for months, are all owned by the same people.
You can't even make it past the third primary unless you are in the pocket of CFR, Heritage Foundation and at least one other think tank.
They love to allow candidates to fight it out, it makes it look more realistic, so people believe that there's really a choice in all of this. In the end, there might be a few factions within the people who own this country, but overall, they agree upon the candidates long before the first ballot is cast, and if there are any ideological differences it merely reflects infighting among those who own our country.- rlbond86, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1Then leave. We don't want you. We love the CFR and the Heritage Foundation and at least one other think tank. We love being wrong and ignorant of the truth. Yes, 9-11 was an inside job and the election is fixed and the government made aids and the media is scared of Ron Paul. Things are terrible here. You should leave and never come back.

- alasbabylon, on 05/10/2008, -8/+1Let's hope it takes her a couple of years before she reaches the state of acceptance.
- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -0/+7That will never happen.
She'll be standing in the crowd reciting the oath of office during the inauguration, and she'll have her own motorcade racing who ever wins the general election to the white house.
If she beats them to the white house, she'll have a press conference so she can tell the American people that this is why they were "***** morons! You're all idiots! Can't you see I was meant to be the president??!?! GOD DAMN YOU PEOPLE, I TOLD YOU I WAS QUALIFIED FOR OVER A YEAR, OVER AND OVER AGAIN! YOU JUST DON'T LISTEN! I AM THE PRESIDENT! IT IS ME! - PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -3/+37I thought that was hilarious, but she isn't in a state of denial, she is in a state of sheer and utter contempt for the electoral process.
She believes that she is owed this presidency. She suffered through the humiliation of the lewinsky scandal and the vast right wing conspiracy against her husband. She suffered for all of us with her hard fought and uncompromised health care package. She served this country as a senator, doing things that no other American, living or dead, has ever done. She deserves this presidency, and she shall not be cheated of it.

- Charbax, on 05/10/2008, -23/+1Most of Michigan and Florida's 365 delegates are going to Clinton. She is leading the real delegate count.
- TheDarkstarter, on 05/10/2008, -0/+19Too bad in the beginning she AGREED to not count those.
- Charbax, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1Nobody thought the primary was going to last that long. Usually a primary is over after like the first primary or something. So who cared about Florida and Michigan back then. But now everyone should care cause now the primary for like the first time ever is a tie.
- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -0/+16You mean those two states that broke party rules and held their primaries earlier than they were told, and were stripped of delegates? Do you mean the two states that Obama was not even on the ballot of, because he and Clinton agreed not to campaign in those states in support of the democratic party's rules? Those states where hillary went ahead and put herself on the ballots in those states anyways, as a sort of insurance policy, that she could pull out of her @ss if she ever found herself in a position where she was behind?
Oh yea. I guess as long as she wins, it won't matter that she cheated, right? Because you want her to win. If you were to find out that it was Obama that did that, you'd be screaming bloody murder, but since it was your candidate that did it, you know that she only did it for the best of reasons, so that SHE could win, which she's only doing for people like you, anyway, right????
So it isn't just the candidate who is delusional, it is also her supporters.- RawOysters, on 05/10/2008, -0/+6LOL! Touche'!
- starmanfalls, on 05/10/2008, -0/+5Pretty damn good stuff right there
- Diggey11, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Thank you PhilLesh69 for knowing what the hell your talking about. I agree with you 100%
- Charbax, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1You Obama fanboys need to calm down for a second.
Nobody cares about the democratic party rules of September 2007 or whenever they decided to punish Florida and Michigan. What the Americans care about is DEMOCRACY. Who got the most votes, you know, that kind of thing.
You cannot say for certain that Obama has got more votes in this primary. Florida is 20 million people, Michigan is 15 million people, 2.5 million of them voted in the FL and MI primaries. Most of those 2.5 million people most surely voted for Clinton and Obama only has about a couple hundred thousand more votes with 6 primaries remaining.
Most democratic thing to do would be to do a revote. Otherwise let Clinton get the delegates according to the 2.5 million people who voted. Then it's all gonna be up to the delegates to decide who's going to be the president.
- Fordi, on 05/10/2008, -1/+6Still pretending that the DNC is going to let MI and FL get away with flouting the rules - even though Hillary initially upheld the decision to punish them?
You're very optimistic. Or, you know, ***** insane.- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3Hillary "initially upheld the decision to punish them" only because she saw a way to put herself on ballots that the other democratic candidates wouldn't be a part of.
She knew it would be a great avenue for lawsuits and party manipulation if she needed a way to finagle herself into position.
She'll pull a Gore, and take it all the way to the Supreme Court, before she concedes to Obama.
She'll probably take it all the way beyond the supreme court, to the world court, or the UN General Assembly, or the South African Union, or the European Union, or if she can drag it out long enough, to the North American Union. - Charbax, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1The DNC is going to decide what is right for America. What will Americans think is right. You bunch of Obama fanboys on Digg aren't going to make it so that most Americans will believe he really was the best candidate to be president.
Let FL and MI be part of this primary. Let them take the time to revote. Otherwise you've got to trust the currently elected democrats which are the 800 delegates, trust that they will choose the right candidate.

You should see a doctor.
What you do is you get on the next turnip truck passing through town, ride it to that big city that has a train station, but a train ticket to a town that owns a television and has a traffic light, then get a bus ticket to any major city that has a hospital. Then go to that hospital.
They can give you some pills that will kill those worms in a month or two.
Or just go see the local veterinarian (animal doc, in your parts) because they routinely give those pills to dogs, cats and most farm animals.

- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -3/+5So he shouldn't have said states. What he meant was there are 57 primaries and caucuses. Texas has both a primary and a caucus, then there are protectorates and territories:
Guam, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, American Somoa, Democrats abroad primary, District of Columbia.
At least there is some math for that one. Saying you got shot at by snipers when in fact a little bosnian school girl hands you flowers, well that's an outright lie. Saying "states" instead of "primaries and caucuses" at least can be followed up with facts. Count the primaries and caucuses yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_(Uni ...- p0s3r, on 05/10/2008, -7/+3"I have now been in 57 States with one left to go."
There's absolutely no way you can spin that as 57 primaries. Sorry, but Obama is a grade A retard.- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -1/+6That retard went to several schools that you could never get into. And he didn't have a daddy who could get him into them. He just qualified through SATs and good grades.
- p0s3r, on 05/10/2008, -6/+2Affirmative Action. He qualified because of his skin color. How else would someone who thinks there are 57 States get into an Ivy League school?
- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -1/+4poser, your racism is showing.
I grew up in Hawaii, about the same time in the 70's that Obama was there. I was just in Elementary School, while he was attending Punahou.
I can tell you, Punahou wasn't an affirmative action school. In fact, it was the exact opposite. The majority of students had to have at least 1/8th Hawaiian blood in order to attend. If you were any degree Hawaiian, by blood, you had an automatic appointment to that school, at least in the time I lived there from 1974 to 1980, with a 100% scholarship. If Obama got into that school they had to have wanted him because of his IQ score and his grades and his parent's (or guardian's) involvement in his education.
I went to a DOD school on Schofield Barracks, and I knew of about 3 students from my school of 3,000 who were pegged to go to Punahoe, if their parents would stay in Hawaii to allow their child to attend Punahoe. One family actually did that, the father retired at 10 years in the Army, stayed in Wahiawa, and sent his gifted child to Punahoe.
There was no skin color qualification. A Career Army Officer chose to get only 20% of his army pay as retirement, instead of 50%, in order to send his kid to Punahoe. This school was prejudiced towards Hawaiians. No other skin color mattered, everyone who was not at least 1/8th Hawaiian had to compete against the favored Hawaiians.
Sorry, p0s3r, you just haven't been around the world enough to know the reality of our world. - p0s3r, on 05/10/2008, -2/+1How the ***** would I know the admissions details of some obscure racist private school in Hawaii?

- OfficeSpacing, on 05/10/2008, -3/+2Ok let me elaborate:
Letterman isn't funny.- blagoaw, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3Now we're getting somewhere. His main draw isn't that he's funny, it's that he's got lasting respect. He was the first on late night to do stuff like stick marshmallows to himself and get torched by a flamethrower, hit aquariums full of guacamole with a train, toss lots of food off a building just to watch it smash, etc. Not so surprising anymore.. but he was a pioneer.
- OfficeSpacing, on 05/10/2008, -3/+2Ok let me elaborate:
- webergolf, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1I'm pretty sure I heard Leno use the same line the other night
- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1So instead of using logic, you are dismissing conventional wisdom?
If only one of the late-night comedians had said this, an intellectually honest person could say "gee, this guy is knocking my candidate".
However, like you say, Leno said it as well. So did Conan O'Brien.
Ever heard of TRIANGULATION? I feel for you if you haven't. You'll be holding your breath for Hillary to win all the way until November, and you'll probably need an Intelligence Awakening long before then.
We hate to wake you folks up. We tried it in 2000, We tried it in 2004, and now we almost feel obligated to either wake you up or kill you (if it were only legal) in 2008)

- Rodalli, on 05/10/2008, -6/+5I love how these comedians don't jump on a good joke until it's the "in" thing to do. As soon as the media decides that Hillary should quit, Letterman follows suit. Newsflash: Hillary's situation isn't much changed from what it was weeks and months ago in previous primaries. There were many loud voices crying out weeks and weeks ago that Hillary should drop out of the race because there was virtually no way she could win when you looked at the arithmetic. THAT WAS OVER A MONTH AGO! Where was Letterman then? Where was the media then? Not reporting it, not even talking about it. Just milking this ***** pimple for all it's worth.
I dislike Hillary as much as the next guy, but the nerve of cracking wise about the situation that has dragged the party through the mud when you and your higher-ups are part of the reason we're still at square one in this election? Frankly, I'd like to ring his neck and a few others, as well.
Ratings, ratings, ratings and the more attention we give them, the worse it gets for us.- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3You don't understand the media and entertainment business, do you?
Before these last two primaries, there was still at least an arguable if still convoluted chance she could pull a victory out of her ass. Had she won with a 10 or 15 point margin in Indiana, and did better than losing by 14 points in North Carolina, she would have had enough delegates to pull some shenanigans at the DNC convention in Denver.
Nobody in the media wants to risk their livelihood attacking a vindictive and vengeful person who might have even a long-shot of becoming president.
The fact that people feel free to make jokes like this, or to basically get on news programs announcing that her candidacy is all but over just proves that it is all but over. She is the only one keeping it going at this point, in spite of the facts and in spite of reality.
If she had a chance, they would never risk her ire, for fear that by some miracle she actually became president.
Bush has denied journalists access to the White House press room because of unfavorable reporting. Just imagine what Hillary could do to someone who cracked a joke at her expense.- Rodalli, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1All that is required for evil to prevail is that good men do nothing. If you won't stand up for anything but your own neck, I have no time for you.

- matador3, on 05/10/2008, -1/+4Nope, the shady bitch will steal it somehow and then the ***** will hit the fan big time. The convention should be interesting...

- diggenerate, on 05/10/2008, -2/+4Fox is saying that Obama is "cutting into" Hillary's super-delegate lead. I thought he was or is in the lead???
I hate Fox- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2She does lead him by a little in SUPER-delegates. Though the last few days about 3 or 4 who have previously pledged Hillary are now saying they will vote for Obama at the convention.
There's a huge difference between delegates and super-delegates. Delegates vote based on the proportional allocation of each state's popular vote in the primary or caucus. Super-delegates are senators and party officials who do not need to vote based on the people, but can vote any way they want. They are there to retain control over the candidate selection within the democratic party establishment.- kuzotz, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2in short. Your vote doesn't mean *****. It's great to learn something new in terms of how primaries work, and how a candidate just gets forced onto the party (Hilary).
- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Basically.
Your vote doesn't count.
Welcome to the charade.

- username484767, on 05/10/2008, -6/+2teh funny!
she's such a *****, rofl - laurencedrell, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1very funny
it would be funnier if it weren't so true
and if damage to the democratic party wasn't being done
by her continued "smiling determination" - caponumen, on 05/10/2008, -6/+1I want her to win, just so I have a hot MILF to bother and to teach you atheists the power of miracles.
Well, at least that what they will call it and yes it will count at the Vatican I assure you.........- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3Do you really believe that she is a hot MILF?????
Holy *****, that is so sad. That woman isn't even attractive to lesbians, dude.- Aslan72, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3MILF? Who are you? Wilford Brimley?

- wesl0bombs, on 05/10/2008, -7/+0HE STOLE THAT JOKE from CONAN O'BRIEN!
gap-toothed scumbag.- PhilLesh69, on 05/10/2008, -1/+3We all wonder how many quarters David can put in between his two front teeth. Me and my friends made that bet (never resolved) back in 1986).
But, if He and Conan both used that joke, maybe you need to consider that this is a reality, not just some parody.
Comedians speak the truth under the guise of humor.

- draculthemad, on 05/10/2008, -3/+1As much as everyone seems to think Hillary is guzzling babies blood to keep her campaign going, do you honestly think Obama would still be the lead in every night in the news if she had conceded months ago?
- secondfiddle, on 05/10/2008, -1/+8Hillary needs to pack it up go home and make Bill a meatloaf dinner.
- analogkid01, on 05/10/2008, -2/+2Am I the only one who sees a strong similarity between Hillary and Bush? They're both cloistered in their own little worlds where everything is perfect and going smoothly, while reality implodes all around them.
- swimhard, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1Hillary and George Bush ARE the same, and employ the same "scorched earth" tactics of "whatever it takes." The New York Times' Bob Herbert hits the nail on the head in his 5/10 article "Seeds of Destruction," According to Herbert, "The Clinton's have been trying to embed that gruesomely destructive message (i.e., the Southern Strategy of "He can't win! Don't you understand? He's black! He's black!) in the brains of white votes and super delegates for the longest time." The Clinton's should be ashamed of themselves but, and this is where the Clinton-Bush similarity is really clear, they never will be [ashamed of their behavior], because to Hillary/Bill and George, the end result ALWAYS justifies ANY means.
- AvidPreatorian, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2for god's sakes, stop completely hating Hilary. I am an Obama supporter but people like you get so emotional over this that you say some of the dumbest things.. relax, go outside, do something enjoyable and MAYBE forget about the race for a minute.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1Oh sure, stop being outraged when the corruption is slapping you right in the face. /sarcasm Hey Avid, this is bigger than hating Hillary. You completely missed the point. You are probably familiar with the phrase "rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic"?

- baudbwoy, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1Say what you want the reason she is hanging in there is because she believes in the "White Effect" where in the end she knows all the white Americans will just vote for anyone except a person of colour (translated:color...for my American brethren)
- JMellissa, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1I couldn't have put it any better myself!
